There are always a number of applications that users of the various mobile platforms look forward to becoming available, such as Instagram for Android. Today we have some good news for owners of the iPad 2 as Photoshop Touch from Adobe is released for the tablet PC.

The application has long been promised for the device and is pretty close to the version that is found on the Android platform, including the price. An article over on Cnet is reporting that Adobe has also promised to get the rest of their Touch applications onto the device in the not too distant future.

In use the Photoshop Touch interface is not too involved once you get used to it, but it can block out a proportion of the image. The application offers users a good selection of special effect brushes along with a good set of adjustment.

Other popular features are available such as adjustments, filters, layers, and selection tools that will help users create stunning images. By using the camera on the iPad users can fill an area on a layer via the camera fill feature. Once completed images can be shared via social networking sites such as Facebook, and comments can be viewed from within the app.

Users can even search and get hold of images by using the built-in Google Image Search, and AirPrint allows for wireless printing of completed images. You can upload images that have a resolution of 1600 x 1600 pixels.

Included in the application is a gallery to give you ideas for creating great images, and step-by-step instructions are included to help you learn the techniques that the professionals use. Users can also upload projects to the Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as opening layered files from the app in Photoshop CS5. Below we have a couple of videos of the application for you.

Adobe Photoshop Touch 1.1.0 is available worldwide on the App Store in a variety of languages, and is priced at $9.99/£6.99. iPad 2 with iOS 5.0 required.

If you’ve been paying attention, and hanging on to every word that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been saying regarding the native Facebook app for iPad, you can forget all that now. As it turns out, that very code has been discovered while it sits secretly in the iPhone’s Facebook DNA strands.

A little over 9 months ago, back in November 2010 to be exact, Mark Zuckerberg attended Facebook’s mobile event, and while answering questions in the Q&A, he referred to a question regarding a possible dedicated application for Facebook on the iPad.

“The iPad’s not mobile… it’s a computer.” Quickly changing the way he answered his question, he did follow it up by saying “we all love Apple products,” the iPad just “isn’t mobile in the same way.”

In any which way you look at it, it seemed as though an iPad application was just not in the heads and minds of the Facebook HQ, especially Zuckerberg. But how time changes.

The iPad has rapidly become on top of the ‘Most Wanted’ gadget lists all over the world, and with this it seems as though Facebook thought it was time they catered to those people by treating them with their very own Facebook application. Could this be totally down to the competition from other tablet manufacturers? Or could it be down to the pressure from Google over the launch of Google+, who are guaranteed to have a dedicated application for just about every smartphone and tablet on the market.

Whatever the case, lets get down to the real reason we are here. Introducing the new Facebook for iPad application.

According to TechCrunch, they say that the hidden gem was found embedded within the code of the latest version of the Facebook for iPhone app, which is now at 3.4.4. The latest update was apparently a small fix that restored the ‘Send’ button, and fixed other niggling issues that has caused quite a stir over the usuability of the iPhone app. Even the creator is complaining about it.

Although getting the right code to execute the application is kind of tricky if you are not sure how, maybe this tweet from an “iOS Enthusiast” can help you in the right direction.

We at Product Reviews have not yet tested this ourselves, but the guys at TechCrunch have dug their nails in and have posted a gallery full of screenshots for you to take a gander at. As you can see, it looks rather impressive.

Have you had a play with the dedicated Facebook for iPad application yet? Do you like it? Tell us your experiences below.

We have some slightly worrying news to bring to those of you in possession of an Apple iPad 2, as we’re just read a report which suggests that Apple’s latest tablet device is another victim of the infamous ‘antenna gate’ scandal that rocked the iPhone 4.

For those of you that aren’t aware, Antenna Gate is the term which refers to the death grip, i.e the position you hold the iPhone 4 or in this case, the iPad 2 now. According to this report from Redmondpie, holding the iPad 2 in the death grip with both hands on either side will result in a loss of WiFi connectivity bars, while removing a hand from the left side of the iPad 2 will bring the bars back up soon afterwards.

If you need proof of this claim, you’ll find it in the video below when you clearly see the WiFi bars drop from three to two, and then back up to three after performing the death grip. Given the huge public backlash that Apple faced with Antenna Gate for the iPhone 4, it seems a bit outrageous if the issue is still present on the iPad 2.

Have you experienced this too? Try it on your iPad 2 now and let us know what happens.

We have some great news for the thousands of you that are patiently waiting for a working iPad 2 jailbreak, as we have just been given an update on progress by the Chronic Dev Team, who you may remember were responsible for bringing the GreenPois0n jailbreak to the iPhone.

They have posted an update on their website, revealing a hidden message if you like that they have solved a potential stumbling block in figuring out how to jailbreak the iPad 2, the only Apple device yet to be unlocked.

Unfortunately, they still don’t have an estimated release date eta for when the jailbreak will be available, but their message alone seems to suggest that it’s just around the corner. On a side note, there is no update from Geohot yet, as you may remember us informing you that he had ‘accepted’ a challenge to be the first person to jailbreak the device before the likes of the iPhone and Chronic Dev Teams.

Are you still holding out for a jailbreak solution for your iPad 2? Do you think Chronic Dev Team will be the first guys to do it, or do you still believe Geohot will surprise us all with a release? We’ll let you know when there are any further updates on this.

We now have news that the name of Toshiba’s new Honeycomb tablet will be called the Toshiba Thrive. The first thing we would like to know is how it compares to the Apple iPad and the Motorola Xoom? Looking at the specs comparison it could be anyone’s, as it is with a host of other tablets on the market.

It did not take a genius to know what Toshiba were going to call their 10-inch tablet, as a website had already been parked for it. We should start to see the first set of commercials soon for the new device; we do find it strange that you can already pre-order the tablets, which come in either 8GB or 32GB.

That is the first thing that we will look at, the iPad 2 comes in a choice of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB; the Xoom only comes in 32GB. However, Apple’s tablet fails in the fact that it does not have an SD Card slot, whereas the other two do.

The Thrive looks like it will use the same Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, the iPad 2 uses the A5 dual-core 1GHz CPU. Both the Xoom and Thrive have the same 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras. Again, the iPad 2 fails here as well – cameras have never been Apple’s strong suit.

Toshiba’s upcoming tablet has the benefit of an HDMI port, and although this is very good the iPad 2 has no need for this if you have Apple TV. The reason for this is the fact that you are able to stream everything direct to your TV and enjoy your content on a big screen.

Looking over all specs you have to wonder why the likes of Xoom and even the new Galaxy Tab cannot match sales of the iPad 2? However, specs are not everything, it is also down to usability and what they offer the users, Apple has the App Store – need we say more?

How do you think the Toshiba Thrive will perform in the tablet market?

We have already offered details on the iPad 1 vs. iPad 2 when it comes to graphics comparisons, so now we thought it would be better explained in videos. Below you will see three embedded videos, and they all have their own take on Apple’s new and old devices. View the specs of both models.

In the first video it first looks at what’s new in the newest version, and then explains why you should upgrade. We can clearly see that the new iPad 2 is all about design, as it is sleeker and lighter than the iPad 1. In the video they put the 2011 iPad up against the iPhone 4, and you will be surprised that it is thinner than the smartphone. See more in the first video below.

The second video will help you decide if it is worth buying the new model, or saving $100 on the older model. The screens on both tablets are the same, however, that is about all that remains the same. The newer model has the much faster dual-core processor; this will give you almost twice the processing speed. Get a greater insight into this by viewing the second video below.

The final video is a speed and performance comparison between the iPad 1 and iPad 2. The first test was all about boot up speeds, and you can clearly see that the iPad 2 was much faster. This is a fantastic test, as both tablets have the same apps installed, so no one can say that a certain app is making either run slower. View the third video below for more details.

Knowing if you want to upgrade to the new version will come down to two things, do you really need a faster iPad, and can you spare the money?

If you buy your iPad 2 from Apple you are very limited in terms of design customization, in fact ignoring the differnt smart covers available you can only choose between a black version and a white version. For those of you who want something a little more funky we have the perfect solution for you thanks to ColorWare.

Over the years ColorWare has made a name for their-self due to their high-quality device customizations, now they allow you to design your own iPad 2 just how you want it.

Currently ColorWare let you start with either the black or white models, you can then choose the WiFi or 3G version, however only AT&T not Verizon, if you don’t mind this you can then get inventive with your unique design. WiFi only prices start at $900 and 3G models start at $1030. Alternatively you can send in your own iPad 2 for a makeover for $400.

You can design your own iPad 2 online, for the iPad 2 body you can choose from roughly 50 colors from three different color types (solid, metallic and pearl), you can then choose a SofTouch finish if you please. After this you can choose from the same colors and finishes for the Apple logo and and home button, if you wish you can completely remove the Apple logo from the rear.

Below we have embedded a “Product-Reviews” inspired design which we came up with, check out the site for yourself and design your own iPad 2.

Do you think the prices are too expensive?

The Apple iPad 2 has been available for many people for a while now, and stock levels are starting to improve. But if you live in one of the countries yet to get the device we have some good news for you, as Apple confirm iPad 2 release in Hong Kong, Japan, China.

You don’t have to wait long either as Japan will be getting the device from April 28, and Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore are to get the iPad 2 from April 29. The device will be available from 9 am local time from Apple retail stores, and other selected retailers. In total twelve more countries are getting the device.

On the Apple Store online it will be available to order from 1 am, and from Friday may 6 the iPad 2 with Wi-Fi will also be available in China. This will be good news for the many people that have been waiting for the device to land in their selected country.

Recent fears of Apple delaying the release of the iPad 2 in other countries due to the events in Japan last month seem to be unfounded. But expect to see the device sell out fast as it did in the first batch of countries the iPad 2 was launched in.

For the full list of countries getting the iPad 2 and pricing click here.

The iPad 2 has been getting most of the headlines in the tablet market since it was released, but other manufacturers have their own offerings for consumers. Research In Motion has recently released the PlayBook. A couple of days ago we showed you a video of the device in action, but today we have a more interesting video.

An article on Phones Review has a video courtesy of Mobile Burn, which shows the two devices in aside-by-side confrontation. The video which you can see below has over twelve minutes of the devices in a side-by-side battle looking at various features of the tablets.

Some of the major features are compared which include gaming; multitasking and some other simple users interface features. We are not going to tell you how they compared, you will have to watch the video for that, but one thing that really stands out is the difference in size when you see the two tablets next to each other.

The PlayBook is likely to appeal to owners of BlackBerry cell phones, as the two devices can work well together. But is it worth having if you don’t already own a BlackBerry?

If you are still looking to buy an iPad 2, retailer Best Buy is launching an iPad 2 promotion on Sunday. Recently we told you of some rumors that the retailer had annoyed Apple by holding on to iPad 2 stocks, but this was then denied. Well it looks like stock was being held back for the promotion which is starting tomorrow.

Josh Ong from AppleInsider is reporting that a leaked internal memo indicates that Best Buy is planning a promotion push for the iPad 2. It is also thought the retailer will restart taking reserve orders for the device for at least a week after the sales promotion.

The memo which was originally leaked by Engadget states the promotion will begin on April 17, and ordering system for reserving the iPad 2 will also be switched back on. It is thought that some stores will have a minimum of three iPad 2s.

People who have an iPad 2 already reserved still get priority over any iPad 2 stocks that the company has, and as soon as any remaining stock has sold the stores will begin taking reserve orders for the tablet PC. The memo states that reserved units will not be held for longer than 48 hours and also staff at Best Buy are now allowed to buy an iPad 2.

What isn’t known about the Best Buy promotion is what else they will be offering; it is highly unlikely that there will be any discounts on the iPad 2. Maybe the store will be giving away some goodies with the device like a free case or something.

Will you be heading to your local Best Buy tomorrow?
