The latest installment for the FIFA franchise is about to hit consoles and PCs in the UK, for some gamers it will have already been available for two days. For those that are more interested in gaming-on-the-go however, they will be pleased to know that FIFA 12 has been released at the Apple App Store today and can now be downloaded for the iPhone or iPad devices.

The iPhone version of the game will cost £3.99 and the iPad version £5.99. One of the most exciting features of this year’s version of the popular sports title is that if downloaded for the iPad, players can use their iPhone as a controller. This is a revolutionary function that is set to be popular amongst other games too.

EA have been enjoying a lot of success with their past downloadable versions of FIFA, with them proving to be very popular on the iDevices. Every year the game is improved including the gameplay, teams, kits, transfers and players. According to YourDailyMac this year has seen particular changes being made to the career mode on the iPhone version. Managers can now choose to let the team compete in the match without them actually controlling the players.

The feature that lets players use the iPhone as a controller also gives other options. A friend can now join in and compete against players or they can compete on the same side. When the function is activated the buttons on the iPad are transferred to the iPhone. The main issue with this feature however is that he game will need to be purchased on both devices. This will set users back a total of £9.98 if they would like FIFA 12 on both their iPhone and iPad.

Will you be getting FIFA 12 on your iPad or iPhone?

The Apple App Store has been with us now for just over three years, during this time it has grown in popularity and size. A few months later the Android Market was released with paid for applications being made available in February 2009. While the Apple App Store remains the bench mark for application stores. Now analysts are predicting that the Android Market is set to pass the App Store next year, but does it really matter if the Android Market overtakes the App Store?

An article on CBR Mobility is reporting that according to Strategy Analytics the Android Market is set to go past the Apple App Store for quarterly volume by the end of 2012. The Android Market will be helped from third party app sellers such as the Amazon App Store, GetJar and Nook to name but a few.

A few weeks ago Apple had its 15 billionth application download, while last month the Android Market recorded its 4.5 billionth app download. It is still thought that Apple will still have the highest revenue from app downloads next year as it has more paid for downloads. Plus it currently has more apps than the other platforms.

But because of the help from the third party sellers it won’t be long before the Android Market is out in front. Sometimes the Android platform can be helped with the tight restrictions that Apple imposes on applications being submitted to the App Store, developers can even release apps on Android first because of this.

But the Android Market does have its problems with applications in the past being released that contain malware. The Android Market is currently undergoing a face lift as it was recently updated and is rolling out around the world. It comes down to personal preference which is better, but personally I prefer the look and feel of the Apple App Store.

My cell phone is on the Android platform, but I also have an iOS device so have used both app store fronts. The Android market is certainly getting better but still falls a little short of Apple’s offering. But the quality of the applications available is the important part, and currently the Android Market has a way to go. Do you agree? Or do you prefer the Android Market?

If you are looking for some secrets to a happy marriage, you’ll be pleased to know that you can do a little bedtime reading right from your iPhone or iPad. There are actually numerous apps available which will give you the tips you need.

The first app we’ve picked out is appropriately titled ‘The Secret to a Happy Marriage’, and it’s available to download for the iPad now priced at just $1.99. The app takes the format of a small diary and in 14 chapters, it provides tips on how to make your marriage happier. Such chapters include ‘To be Loved’, ‘Marriage Contracts’ and ‘The Heart of a Woman’.

Alternatively, you may be interested in an app for the iPhone. The app is called ‘Improving Your Marriage to Newlyweds Again’ and it’s available for the cheaper price of $0.99. While the app does point out that ‘there is no perfect marriage’, it does provide information on ‘winning back your partner’ and tips on how to ‘re-ignite the passion’ in your relationship.

Finally, we have one more app for you to try out. This is a more lightheartened approach to having a happy marriage, and it comes in the form of an iOS app called ‘Happy Marriage’. This one is a fun game for you and your partner to try out, and it evolves around a dice that you have to throw. Each face of the dice comes up with a different result, with examples including Cooking, Housework, Shopping and Washing.’ It looks like a fun way to have the final say on a particular house chore if you can’t come to an agreement with your partner. This app is available now, priced at $0.99.

Try the apps out now and see if they have helped for you. The prices are quite reasonable in our opinion, but do let us know if you have found a similar app which is free.

Do you offer any secrets to a happy marriage?

If you own an iOS device and you enjoy playing the hugely popular Words with Friends game, then I think we have some news that may be of interest to you. Zynga Mobile has recently launched a new app called Hanging with Friends, which is basically the classic Hangman game with a social twist.

According to Leena Rao from techcrunch.com, the Hanging with Friends game is very similar to the Words with Friends mobile game. Players will have the ability to log into Facebook and Twitter to see if any of their friends are playing, and challenge them to take turns both creating and guessing words.

Players must choose their avatar, and then decide which friends they want to compete against. If users manage to guess a word correctly, they can go on to play another round. However, if they miss a word they could fall. Hanging with Friends will enable users to play up to 20 simultaneous games.

The app also features push notifications, so players can be alerted when it’s their turn. If a user is left hanging from their friends, the Hanging with Friends game will pick a random player as a new challenger. Players also have the ability to use lifelines that provide hints at words, as well as watch instant replays.

As players guess words correctly they will earn coins, which can then be used to obtain further lifelines. Zynga Mobile is offering both a free and paid version of the Hanging with Friends application, with the paid version costing $0.99 from the Apple App Store.

Would you download the Hanging with Friends game for your iOS device?

Some of you may remember the article that we brought you back in July last year, which suggested that the popular iWork applications were possibly coming to the iPhone. At the time we asked our readers whether or not they believed the iPad apps were coming to other iOS devices.

Well we can now tell you that the rumors were true, as according to a recent article by Donald Melanson over at engadget.com, Apple’s iWork apps – which have been available for the Apple iPad for quite some time now – have finally come to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The iWork applications – which include Numbers, Keynote and Pages – will set you back $9.99 each, which is exactly the same amount as the iPad-only version. The apps were originally created for the Mac, but were completely redesigned to suit iOS and Apple’s multi-touch interface.

Pages, Keynote and Numbers enable users to create and share beautifully formatted documents, powerful spreadsheets and stunning presentations while on the go. The Keynote app makes it simple to create presentations, complete with transitions and animated charts.

Numbers on the other hand uses multi-touch gestures and an intelligent keyboard, to help users create great-looking spreadsheets with more than 250 easy-to-use functions. Finally, the Pages app has been described as the most beautiful word processor ever designed for a mobile device.

You can read more about the iWork apps via the engadget.com website. Were you hoping that the iWork applications would come to the iPhone and iPod Touch?

Have you ever been sitting downstairs in the living room watching television and suddenly realized that you’ve left the PC or Mac on upstairs, but you couldn’t be bothered to go and turn it off? If you had the recently released iShutdown app, you could simply switch it off remotely with your iOS device.

According to a recent article by Goncalo Ribeiro over on the redmondpie.com website, the iShutdown application enables its user to either shut down or restart any PC or Mac from their Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, as long as all of the devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

After the app scans for available computers using Apple’s Bonjour service, it will provide you with the option of either shutting down or restarting the PC / Mac. However, if for any reason the application is unable to find your computer, you are able to hit the ‘+’ button and type in your computer’s IP address.

Before you can get the iShutdown app up and running, you must install a server service on the PC / Mac you intend to remotely control. The server is available via the application’s website. If you intend on installing the server on a Windows PC, you will also need to install Bonjour and Microsoft.NET Framework.

Do you own an iOS device? If so, would you download the iShutdown application?

A couple of weeks ago we told our readers about a newly released app called VideoPuzzle, a revolutionary new puzzle game for iOS devices. Today we have news about the launch of a similar application, which comes in the form of Scrambleface – an introduction.

As noted on the appdebate.com website, the Scrambleface – an introduction app is an innovative new game for the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad 2. The game takes a live video feed from the device’s rear or front facing camera, and turns it into a live action sliding puzzle.

Watch in amazement as the application scrambles your face up, and laugh out loud at the crazy combinations. If players laugh or frown, their mixed up faces will do exactly the same on screen. The application only comes with 14 levels, but more are available via in-app purchase.

The Scrambleface – an introduction game features both upside and twisted stages, as well as Time Challenges. Both you and your children will have so much fun rearranging your faces in real time. As noted on itunes.apple.com, the app does require iOS 4.1 or above.

Do you own an Apple iOS device? If you do, would you download the Scrambleface – an introduction app?

If you own an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and you’re familiar with the classic arcade football game Tecmo Bowl, you might be pleased to know that the Tecmo Bowl Throwback game has recently been released onto the Apple App Store for iOS devices.

As Steve over on the operationsports.com website recently noted, the original Tecmo Bowl game was the football-themed video game that started the trend. The Tecmo Bowl series, which has sold more than five million copies, was first launched in arcades back in 1987.

The series then made its way on to the NES and as years went by, it debuted on other consoles as well. The Tecmo Bowl Throwback game – which will cost you $7.99 – brings the series’ authentic side-scrolling gameplay to iOS devices, along with intuitive pick-up-and-play controls.

Tecmo Bowl Throwback provides gamers with 30 teams including the 2 All-Star squads and 3 modes that range from single games to full seasons. Gamers are able to choose freely from the twenty-eight regular teams in both the full season mode and the single game preseason mode.

You can read more about the game via the operationsports.com website. Have you ever played a Tecmo Bowl game before? If so, will you be downloading the Tecmo Bowl Throwback game for iOS devices?

There may well be quite a few recipe apps available for the Apple iPad already, but I don’t think any of them are going to be as much fun as the recently released Kung Fu Panda 2 Interactive Cookbook. This fun recipe app for iPad is sure to entice the entire family into the kitchen to cook.

According to a recent article by Dusan over on the intomobile.com website, the Kung Fu Panda 2 Interactive Cookbook provides users with ‘favorite Kung Fu Panda’ recipes, as well as clips from the actual movie, cooking demonstration videos, animations and much more.

The Kung Fu Panda 2 Interactive Cookbook focuses on Asian dishes, which have been additionally spiced up and renamed in order for them to be more appealing to kids. This includes recipes such as ‘Mr. Ping’s Tofu Stir-Fry,’ ‘Bunny Family Carrot and Sesame Salad’ and ‘Dragon Warrior Dumplings.’

Users have the option of either reading the recipe for themselves, or letting their iPad and the app read it for them. The application also comes with additional features such as a cooking timer, favorite recipes bookmark and a unit converter for US and European measurements and even number of servings.

The application also enables users to share their recipes via Twitter, Facebook and email, as well as email shopping lists to their accounts. Do you own an Apple iPad? If so, will you be downloading the Kung Fu Panda 2 Interactive Cookbook app?

Still searching for a glasses-free 3D effect which doesn’t leave you disappointed or broke, then i3D may just interest you. It is a new app for Apple’s iOS devices that uses HCP (Head-Coupled Perspective) to form an effective 3D display.

We recently brought you news of a 52” LCD display that uses glasses-free 3D technology and went on sale in Japan. In that article we explain how manufacturers have struggled to come up with the answer to glasses-free technology in the past.

Also when this type of 3D effect is used it is often limited, where users must be looking at the screen at a certain point from a certain distance etc. that’s where the i3D app is different. The HCP technology that it uses means no matter what angle you look at the display from it will always give a 3D effect.

The app is now available free at iTunes but is only compatible with the 4th generation iPod Touch, iPhone 4 and iPad 2. You can also read more about the app over at TiPb by clicking the link, in the meantime check out the video we have below for a look at the app in action.

Are you impressed with this app?
