With CES almost at an end for another year there is so much that we have missed and never got a chance to talk about, such as the new Archos Titanium tablet quartet or the Platinum range. However, we’re pleased to inform you that we have detailed visual impressions of three of the four Titanium tablets for you below, which consists of the 8-inch, 9.7-inch and 10.1-inch models, the smaller 7-inch model was MIA during CES 2013.

The larger three models all come with the same internals, which consists of a 1.6GHz Rockchip processor and a quad-core GPU, all three also run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out the box. If you are looking for screen quality then the 9.7-inch Archos Titanium tablet is your best option because it has a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536, which is the highest of the three larger models.

However, we’re told in the video hands-on that the build quality is far better on the other two sizes, which does seem a little strange. Before we go on we just wonder how long it will be before Apple consider a lawsuit, because the Archos Titanium tablet quartet looks very similar to the iPad don’t you think?

You’ll also see in the video below how games were quick to load, but there were one or two issues with the connector port as it did not seem a tight fit like one would expect. The price for the Archos Titanium tablet range is as follows, $119 for the 7-inch ARCHOS 70 Titanium, $169 for the 8-inch ARCHOS 80 Titanium, $249 for the ARCHOS 97 Titanium HD and finally $199 for the ARCHOS 101 Titanium.

We do hope that Archos has learned from the past and improved the quality of their tablets, as it’s well known that they have had production and quality issues in the past.

In recent months there has been an influx of inexpensive Android tablets hitting the market and while these have been good for those with less disposable income, the one drawback is that they are not able to access the Google Play App Store. Coby has had a number of these cheaper tablets and they have also lacked this access, but the upcoming Coby MID7065 tablet is about to change that.

This 7-inch tablet will run the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS and will be able to download the full range of content from Google Play, such as apps and will also be able to take advantage of Chrome, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and more. The best part about this news is the fact that the Coby MID7065 tablet price will be just $129.99 once released in March.

The Coby MID7065 tablet specs are pretty similar to that of the Nexus 7, so expect a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. However, you will only get 8GB of internal storage, but does give you the option of up to 32GB of storage via a microSD card. This cheap tablet is never going to compete with the Nexus 7 because the Asus device will always run the latest version of Android, unlike Coby’s.

While the Nexus 7 is still a relatively inexpensive Android tablet, it does not have a cheap look and feel as the Coby MID7065 as seen at CES 2013, which is certainly not helped by the less than impressive 1024 x 600 resolution display. Having said that the Kindle Fired HD price is around $70 more and the Google Nexus 7, $130 more expensive, the question is are you prepared to save that kind of money while sacrificing on hardware, looks and overall build quality?

If you thought that Polaroid were just going to show off a rugged tablet for kids, then you would be mistaken as they are also going to release a couple of serious traditional tablets as well. The Polaroid M7 and M10 tablets will both run on Android Jelly Bean out of the box and as you would have guessed are 7 and 10 inches in size, which you’ll be able to see for yourself in the visual reviews below.

Firstly let’s look at the Polaroid M7 tablet with its 1,280 x 800 display, the first thing you’ll want to know is what powers the tablet, and that answer would be the A9 1.6GHz dual-core processor, which is helped along with the pretty standard 1GB of RAM. You’ll notice from the hands-on video below that the M7 is pretty responsive, but that’s not the best part, it’s the Polaroid M7 price, as it is expected to cost just $129 when released in the spring.

Next up is the Polaroid M10 tablet; now one would assume that the larger sibling would have better performance, so imagine our surprise to hear that it is a little slower. This could have something to do with running the A7 CPU and 1GB of RAM, instead of 2GB of RAM at least and a better performing processor.

Most of the Polaroid M10 tablet specs seem pretty much the same as the smaller M7, it’s just like Polaroid cut a few corners just to try and keep the price down and save power on their larger tablet, which is just $100 more. This means that the Polaroid M10 tablet price will be $229 when released in conjunction with the M7.

It’s clear to see that these are just cheap tablets that will not pose a serous threat to the likes of the iPad, Galaxy Tab 10.1 etc, but Polaroid looks to have their sights set on the Nexus 7 and 10, but the question is, do these tablets have what it takes?

Android fans know that the iPad 2 is making their tablets look stupid when it comes to sales. We are not saying that Apple’s offering is superior in hardware, it’s...

Android fans know that the iPad 2 is making their tablets look stupid when it comes to sales. We are not saying that Apple’s offering is superior in hardware, it’s just they seem to have the overall package right. With this is mind our thoughts now turn to an imminent release of Motorola Xoom 2, and the evidence looks to be building up nicely.

The most recent hint of this is the fact that the current Xoom has seen a price drop, and not just in one or two retailers. It seems that most places that sell the Honeycomb tablet will now offer it to you for $499. Having said that, Droid Life says that you can get it even cheaper in Staples.

We have to ask ourselves why the Xoom is now seeing this price drop; was it all part of Motorola’s plan, have they been forced into it due to lower than expected sales, or is the Xoom 2 truly on its way? These are all questions that will be hard to answer – unless Motorola announce details a new tablet soon.

The idea of an update so soon after the current Xoom release is a little hard to grasp at the moment, as that would mean a very short life cycle for the tablet. Although with strong rumors flying around of an iPad 3/iPad 2 Plus doing the rounds it might not be as far fetched as we first thought.

Motorola might feel that they are being forced into releasing the Xoom 2 earlier than expected for another reason, as they are not only facing tough competition from the iPad 2 but also the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Xoom does have a few features that put the new Tab to shame, but it is the weight difference with Samsung’s new tablet what could cause the biggest upset.

If we have learned anything over the years, it’s the fact that Motorola likes to release devices that are very sturdy, which means that they also weigh that little bit more. Now this is not always a bad thing, as we have seen that these new devices like the Samsung Galaxy S II is just too thin and light, and seems much easier to break than lets say a Motorola Droid.

The idea of a Motorola Xoom 2 on the way will open up a bigger issue for those who were considering buying the current model, as they might put off purchasing the current model instead. With this in mind maybe Motorola should state their intentions – although if they did say a new Xoom would be with us in the next few months, then current sales would suffer.

Tablet PCs appear to be quite a popular subject on the Internet at the moment, what with all the news coming in about the Apple iPad 2, the Motorola Xoom and the LG Slate. Another tablet PC that has recently been mentioned online is the eLocity A10.

According to a recent article by Edwin Kee over on the ubergizmo.com website, the eLocity A10 – which will come with Android 2.2 Froyo installed – will be available to pre-order as from February 15th, from online retailers such as Amazon, TigerDirect, JR.com and BHPhoto.

The A10 comes with a starting price of $399, which according to Shane McGlaun from slashgear.com is for the 4GB unit. If 4GB storage isn’t quite enough for you, then you have got the option of the 32GB and 64GB versions, which cost $599.99 and $699.99 respectively.

The eLocity A10 comes with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 T250 CPU, and features a USB 2.0 port, a microSD card slot, a HDMI output, 3-axis accelerometer, a docking port and a 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1366 x 768. It also comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Do you like the sound of the eLocity A10, or would you prefer to purchase another tablet PC such as the Motorola Xoom or Apple iPad 2?

If you have been following the tablet news breaking since CES 2011, and over the last few months and more specifically LG’s contribution to the Tablet craze, then you know about the LG Pad, which is due any day now.

You can see a nice list of tablet PCs coming in 2011 via our earlier post, and those that love the Windows OS may want to take a look at the LG E-Note H1000B. LG’s Android 3.0 Tablet PC would be a better choice for those that are anti Microsoft; the device is called the “G-Slate” and can be seen in a Korean music video below this article.

Engadget explains that the LG G-Slate was one of the “more mysterious devices”, which we heard about at CES 2011. Their Korean correspondents kept them informed about the new Android 3.0 tablet, which you can read the details in their article here.

Pocket-Link has taken a look at the UK perspective for LG’s G-Slate with T-Mobile, which they heard from LG’s James Choi who was pretty vague. Only hinting at another announcement soon when asked directly about a UK version. You can read his exact words in their article. Again, please see the video below or see some other G-Slate videos on YouTube.

Are you a fan of Windows or Android Tablet PCs? Does the LG G-Slate excite you?

One of the hottest devices over the holiday shopping season will be Google Android tablets, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab. There are a number of these already available all at different prices, but you are warned against purchasing one just yet. The reason for this is they will be obsolete soon.

This is something that Devin Coldewey from CrunchGear believes, as he said that they are all “cut-rate, beta products.” His reasoning behind this is the fact that the Tab, the Nook Color and the new Coby Kyros MID7015 will soon be passed over for new Android 2.3 and 3.0 devices.

Coldewey is making the Coby device a fine example of this; saying that the $250 tablet comes with a poor performing 800MHz processor, 4GB storage and 256MG of DDR2 RAM. This looks as though it is aimed at the Galaxy Tab, as it has a 7-inch display, but not sure it has the performance to take the fight to Samsung’s tablet.

Hot Hardware says that the price for the Coby Kyros MID7015 costs just $249.99. if you do not have an issue with buying a device that will be obsolete in less than a month, then the Kyros is worth it, as you will not be wasting as much money as you would on a Galaxy Tab.

If you are not keen on spending £429 on an iPad we may have come across a great alternative, this is the Advent Vega Internet Tablet.

This is an Android-based tablet which runs Google Android 2.2, it costs just £249.00 (here), therefore it is much more affordable than the Apple iPad, HP Slate and Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The tablet features an NVIDIA T20 Tegra 2 processor, a 10.1-inch touchscreen LCD display which supports a resolution of 1024 x 600, 512MB of NAND Flash Storage and it also comes with a 4GB microSD memory card.

Other specs worth mentioning include 1 x USB port, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, HDMI-out, a built-in webcam, a built-in microphone and a 2-cell battery, this battery allows for 16 hours of audio playback (with the LCD off) and 6.5 hours of video playback (1080p).

In terms of size and weight it is comparable to the iPad, it measures in at 275 x 178 x 13.6 mm and weighs approximately 700-750 grams.

I must admit that an Android tablet with such a low retail price is pretty tempting, obviously there is no 3G connectivity so it isn’t as versatile as the iPad and Galaxy Tab, however it would be great around the home/office.

Hopefully we will come across a hands-on video sometimes soon, if and when we do we will be sure to post it on Product-Reviews.

Will you buy the ADVENT Vega Internet Tablet?
