We have great news for those of you who have been keeping a close eye on development for the Android OS port for iPhone, as we can confirm that a download is now available for Android OS on the iPhone 3GS.

As reported from RedmondPie, this is the real deal – all features of Android running on the iPhone 3GS. However, the port is still not recommended for daily usage, as there is still some issues regarding power management, meaning that running Android on your iPhone 3GS will seriously drain your battery life.

As with previous Android ports for iPhone, you’ll need a jailbroken handset to get this to work. A tutorial guide can be viewed here, while there is also a more detailed one here.

Let us know when you have it running on your iPhone – unless you are too busy showing your phone off to your friends!

Did it work for you?

Last week we informed you about a video which showed Google’s Android OS running on an iPhone. We now have a step by step installation guide which will let you try it out for yourself.

As reported from RedmondPie, the tutorial comes to us courtesy of Android A Alot – and provides you with a simple to follow guide, perfect for those of you who wanted to try it out last week, but were afraid to do so.

If you have a jailbroken iPhone 2G, there are 5 steps that you’ll need to follow in order to achieve the iPhone OS and Android OS dual-boot on your device.

You’ll need to download a program called VirtualBox, while you’ll also need to spend a fair amount of time configuring various files.

If you want to give it a try, head to Redmond Pie for full details. Don’t forget that doing so, will void your iPhone warranty with Apple. Let us know how you get on.
