The company is reported to be readying a new Android 3.0 Honeycomb, Intel Oak Trail run tablet and will release it by July.

This news comes from DigiTimes who report that a company called Compal have already began producing these nameless tablets on a large scale. Acer says that this new tablet will perform better than their existing Iconia Tab A500 which is ARM-based, but will still be a similar price.

Acer are also said to be contemplating using MeeGo in their future Intel models. The OS recently released version 2.1 which is aimed at being used with smartphones, in-car entertainment systems and notebooks as well as tablets.

Intel’s Oak Trail is reported to be used in upcoming devices from ASUS and Lenovo too which is why we will find pricing will not vary too much, so as to keep them competitive with rivals. Check out the full article at DigiTimes for more information about the Acer tablet.

Does this new tablet interest you?

Acer Iconia Tab A100: UK Release Date Pushed Back http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/17/acer-iconia-tab-a100-uk-release-date-pushed-back/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/05/17/acer-iconia-tab-a100-uk-release-date-pushed-back/#comments Tue, 17 May 2011 13:19:37 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=131179 Back at the beginning of April we brought you a UK price for the much-anticipated Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet, which at the time was believed to have been launching later that month. However, the Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet’s launch was then delayed until May.

Now it appears the UK release date has been pushed back yet again. According to a recent article by Rik Henderson over at pocket-lint.com, Acer has recently announced that the Iconia Tab A100 device has unfortunately been delayed until the later part of this year.

Although there have been a number of reports surfacing recently that have suggested that the Iconia Tab A100 device had been completely cancelled, Acer UK has stated that the launch has not been cancelled but just postponed until the second half of 2011.

Their statement is entirely different from the one that came from the Polish branch of Acer, who claimed that the A100 had definitely been discontinued. It could well be that the Acer Iconia Tab A100 is still going to be hitting stores in the United Kingdom, but just not in mainland Europe.

As we mentioned in our previous article, the Iconia Tab A100 features a 7-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600, a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, and both a 2 and 5-megapixel cameras. Were you waiting to buy the Acer Iconia Tab A100 Android Honeycomb tablet?

Toshiba ANT Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Tablet: Price and Specs http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/18/toshiba-ant-android-3-0-honeycomb-tablet-price-and-specs/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/18/toshiba-ant-android-3-0-honeycomb-tablet-price-and-specs/#comments Mon, 18 Apr 2011 15:34:12 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=128223 Although many of you may have already heard about Toshiba’s forthcoming Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) run tablet PC before now, nothing was really known about the actual name of the device. Not only have we now got details of a name however, but also information on a price and specs.

According to a recent laptoping.com article, the device – which was listed on the Newegg website – has been named the Toshiba ANT, although we don’t know whether that’s the final name. There will be a choice of 3 different models: the 8GB ANT-100, the 16GB ANT-102 and the 32GB ANT-104.

The models have been priced up at $450, $500 and $580 respectively. The Toshiba ANT is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, features Bluetooth and 802.11n wireless connectivity and comes with a 10.1-inch multi-touch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800.

It also comes with a 6-cell replaceable battery that provides a battery life of around 7 hours, a 2-megapixel front-facing webcam, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, accelerometer, a GPS receiver, an HDMI port, a full-size USB and a mini-USB and an SD card slot.

Unfortunately we have no word on availability at this stage. Do you like the sound of the Toshiba ANT Android tablet?

Asus Eee Pad Transformer: UK Customers Facing Shipping Date Delay http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/15/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-customers-facing-shipping-date-delay/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/04/15/asus-eee-pad-transformer-uk-customers-facing-shipping-date-delay/#comments Fri, 15 Apr 2011 15:39:27 +0000 Tina Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=128093 If you’re one of the many UK residents that are waiting to get their hands on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet, then I’m afraid we have some disappointing news for you. It looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer than expected, as the shipping date has now been delayed.

According to a recent article by Stuart Dredge over at crave.cnet.co.uk, Asus previously revealed that the Android 3.0 Honeycomb run device would be available as from April 6th in the UK, but it appears that the initial limited amount of tablet PCs have sold out rather quickly.

This of course means that retailers have unfortunately had to delay their shipping dates until June 1st. Amazon has apparently emailed their customers with a brand new shipping date, which is also displayed on the Asus Eee Pad Transformer’s product page.

However, the much-anticipated tablet is sure to be worth the extra wait. As a reminder, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer – which can be purchased with the additional keyboard dock – is powered by a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and features a 10.1-inch display and dual cameras.

The Transformer will set you back £380 on its own, or £430 with the keyboard dock. Were you hoping to get the Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet soon?

Motorola Xoom Limited Edition, Gold for Oscars 2011 http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/23/motorola-xoom-limited-edition-gold-for-oscars-2011/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/23/motorola-xoom-limited-edition-gold-for-oscars-2011/#comments Wed, 23 Feb 2011 14:52:17 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=123038 Who would have thought that we would be talking about a Motorola Xoom Limited Edition in Gold a day before the Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet a day before its release? We can tell you that the gold color tablet is not on sale and is only available for the Oscars over the weekend – well the nominees and the hosts to be precise.

So maybe once the weekend is over you might see Colin Firth walking around with a Gold Motorola Xoom? Engadget says that the special device will come presented in its own leather case as well; so it is right when those with all the money get all the special treatment? Although this does not seem fair to you or I, you have to remember that this is considered cheap advertising for companies.

We will just have to put up with the black version for now, but a silver model was seen doing the rounds during MWC 2011. Not as glamorous as the gold version, but maybe ColorWare will offer you this color choice at a later, or even from Stuart Hughes, who made a gold iPad, although this came at a cost of just over $210,000.

The standard color of the Motorola Xoom will be launched tomorrow, which could coincide with an announcement from Apple about the new MacBook Pro refresh and from Intel regarding Light Peak, which is now said to be called Thunderbolt – not sure what HTC will think about that.

Would you like to get your hands on a gold version of the Xoom?

Ad Reveals Motorola Xoom Marketing http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/22/ad-reveals-motorola-xoom-marketing/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/22/ad-reveals-motorola-xoom-marketing/#comments Tue, 22 Feb 2011 11:00:32 +0000 Peter Chubb http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=122770 Do you remember that lame HTC Thunderbolt commercial during the Superbowl? Well that has now been blown out of the water by the first Google Android Honeycomb tablet, and the ad reveals Motorola Xoom marketing while its at it. While viewing the video you will see that the new device will grab you – and it sure does.

The ad lasts just 16 seconds, Droid-life points out that if you wish to view it below then you might have trouble doing so on the Xoom, as the device will not have Flash Player support out the box, you will have to wait until march the earliest. You can clearly see that Verizon is no stranger to ads that draw you in, something that was seen with their Droid range.

As for marketing, you notice how the guy sees this device floating in midair, he seems drawn to it and feels the need to touch it. This is when the Xoom comes to life and grabs hold of him; so the analogy means that Motorola’s first tablet device will take hold of you and change your life. Very simple, but clever at the same time wouldn’t you say?

Looking on the Verizon Wireless YouTube page there are a few interesting comments; one of which points out that the Xoom is released on Steve Jobs birthday. Now is this a coincidence or deliberate? Also there are some handy tips on how to install Flash on the Motorola Xoom from the moment you get it.

What do you think of the first Xoom commercial?

Android 3.0 Honeycomb: Download Port for Nexus One http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/22/android-3-0-honeycomb-download-port-for-nexus-one/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/22/android-3-0-honeycomb-download-port-for-nexus-one/#comments Tue, 22 Feb 2011 05:36:18 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=122756 We have some good news for those of you who still own a Nexus One handset, as it looks like a successful port of the Android 3.0 Honeycomb software has now been achieved on the veteran smartphone.

As reported from RedmondPie, you should be aware that this is the SDK version of Honeycomb that we’re talking about, but it’s still the Honeycomb that we have seen a lot lately on tablet devices such as the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

It’s pretty remarkable that a handset as old as the Nexus One can still run a smooth version of Google’s latest Android software – if this trend keeps up, there isn’t really a need for Nexus One owners to upgrade hardware we feel.

You can check out a preview screenshot of Honeycomb running on the Nexus One below, there’s a few more over at Redmond Pie. You know, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see Google Ice Cream running on the Nexus One at the end of the year either – we wait in anticipation for that to happen.

For those of you who have already tried out this port of Honeycomb on the Nexus One, what are your thoughts on this? Do you prefer this tablet-based OS, or are you going to head back to Gingerbread?

We’ve added a video below too, so you can see actual footage of Honeycomb running on the Nexus One.

Motorola Xoom: Build Quality beats Competition? – Video Preview http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/17/motorola-xoom-build-quality-beats-competition-video-preview/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/17/motorola-xoom-build-quality-beats-competition-video-preview/#comments Thu, 17 Feb 2011 07:20:23 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=122253 We recently informed you about the official price for the Motorola Xoom tablet, which will be landing on Verizon soon. If you’re still a bit frustrated over the pricing, we have a great hands-on video for you to watch, on a more positive note.

The hands-on video has come to us courtesy of BGR, who managed to spend some quality time with the device at Mobile World Congress 2011. If you have been a little sidetracked with all the other tablets that have been announced at MWC so far, this video is a nice reminder of what the Xoom offers, even if the $799 price is a major turn-off.

Here’s a quick rundown of specs just to refresh your memory. The Xoom will come with a 10.1 inch display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, a 1Ghz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Android 3.0 Honeycomb and 1080p video playback to name a few key specs. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with 2mp front camera, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of flash memory.

You may think that these specs are similar to other tablets that have been announced, but the one key factor which will probably separate the Xoom from any other tablet is build quality. The Xoom features a aluminium casing on the back, whereas other tablet manufacturers have opted for a plastic shell.

The result is a product which gives the user a much more solid and premium feel to the device you’re holding, which is why Motorola will justify their $800 price tag for it. Check out the video for yourself below and let us know your opinions on the Xoom – will you be getting one at this price or is it simply too high at the moment?

If you need a second opinion, we’ve also found another great hands-on video by UnwiredView for you to watch as well.

HTC Revolver: List of Specs and Release Date Hints http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/15/htc-revolver-list-of-specs-and-release-date-hints/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/15/htc-revolver-list-of-specs-and-release-date-hints/#comments Tue, 15 Feb 2011 07:56:05 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=122006 HTC are in the midst of announcing their lineup of new handsets for MWC 2011, but we have just heard about a secret handset which definitely isn’t on that list. It’s called the HTC Revolver, and it’s apparently due for release on AT&T before the end of 2011.

According to this report by Engadget, an image sent to them by their anonymous tipster reveals a button-less unusual dome shaped handset which is said to be packing Android 3.0 Honeycomb by the time it releases during the third quarter of this year.

Of course this has yet to be confirmed by AT&T, but this tipster has even given a list of initial specs for the device. If the information proves to be legit, the Revolver will come equipped with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel rear camera with a 3 megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage memory.

This handset is apparently HTC’s flagship handset for 2011, and is backed up by the fact that it runs on Honeycomb, the same operating system which has seemingly only suited for tablet devices. Check out the image over at Engadget and let us know your thoughts on it.

We’ve been keeping an eye on HTC’s MWC 2011 presser and we can definitely confirm that the Revolver isn’t on the list of handsets which have been announced. We’ll be bringing you details on the handsets that have been unveiled soon. Let us know your reaction to this Honeycomb handset. Mouthwatering specs aren’t they?

Update: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like this handset is a fake.

LG G-Slate Tablet: Specs Video Review http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/08/lg-g-slate-tablet-specs-video-review/ http://www.product-reviews.net/2011/02/08/lg-g-slate-tablet-specs-video-review/#comments Tue, 08 Feb 2011 09:42:21 +0000 Alan Ng http://www.product-reviews.net/?p=121148 If you are planning on getting the impressive looking LG G-Slate Tablet when it makes an appearance in the US and Europe, you’ll definitely want to check out a new video of the device which has just been uploaded to YouTube.

As reported from Engadget, the G-Slate or the Optimus Pad as it is also known will be making it’s long awaited appearance at the Mobile World Congress, which kicks off in Barcelona on February 14th.

The video gives us a quick run-through of the key features which will be present in the G-Slate, and it’s fair to say that they are very impressive indeed. Aside from running on the newest version of Android (3.0 Honeycomb), the G-Slate will also feature a 8.9-inch 3D display, a Tegra 2 dual-core processor, a front facing camera, and also a back camera capable of snapping 3D photos.

If that is not enough for you, the G-Slate will also have support for 1080p video recording and 32GB of storage memory to play around with. Check out the video below and let us know your thoughts on it.

We’ve said it before, but this device definitely has to be a contender to the Apple iPad. The Motorola Xoom looks impressive too, but it’s the G-Slate that we’re really looking forward to.
