It looks as though the Droid Bionic revamp is now starting to take shape, as we now have details on what it could look like and a few upgrade changes. Motorola has delayed the handset’s release for some time now and it looks as though it was not down to the processor – although this could still be a possibility.

You will notice that we still have the old photos up, as this is for legal reasons. However, if you head over to PhoneHK you will see a host of images of what the revamped Droid Bionic could look like. So we know that the display will go from 4.3-inches to a 4.5-inch qHD display.

Also we had assumed that Motorola would be using Froyo, but it looks as though Google Android Gingerbread will be the mobile OS of choice instead. But that is not the most interesting bit, it looks as though it is going down the Atrix route and will have a lapdock or whatever you would like to call it.

One further detail is the fact that the rubberized back looks to have gone; in its place is a more traditional bit of plastic. We still do not know how long it will be before Moto finally get round to releasing the Bionic, but they need to be quick before consumers give up on it and start thinking about the Droid 3 instead.

It has been a while since we last heard about the successor to the Google Nexus One, but you’ll be pleased to know that fresh details for the rumored Nexus Two have emerged.

As reported from Phandroid, new details have surfaced from City A.M, who are claiming that UK retailer Carphone Warehouse will release the Nexus Two exclusively before the end of the year.

The phone is meant to be the official successor to the popular Nexus One and Phandroid add their input by suggesting that the Nexus Two will release alongside Android OS Gingerbread to help drive sales. If that does happen, then you can bet that interest will go through the roof, especially since the original Nexus One is well loved by hardware lovers in the smartphone industry.

Check out the full article over at City A.M and let us know your thoughts on this. Would you buy the Google Nexus Two if it came out?

Although Android OS Gingerbread was initially thought to be set at version 3.0, some recent turn of events has suggested that Gingerbread could actually be known as Google Android 2.3.

Firstly, Gingerbread has now been made official by Google as they have released a video, showing off a huge statue of a gingerbread man next to the current Froyo statue outside their campus.

While it is thought that Gingerbread could still turn out to be 3.0, a statement by a Google employee has revealed some very interesting news. Here is a direct quote from the Android support Forums:

”Yes, Android 2.3 is a “major release”, and this patch will be available then.”

The only other major release we’ve heard about after Android 2.2 Froyo, is Gingerbread so this does make things very interesting.

If the speculation is true, what version will Honeycomb stand at? Let us know your thoughts on this.

We have some interesting details for you to check out now, particularly if you are looking forward to the upcoming release of Android 3.0 Gingerbread – the next version of Google’s OS after Froyo.

The guys over at Phandroid have managed to get some exclusive info on the current development stage of Gingerbread and in their report, they have revealed a few software features that you may attract you.

The key points we heard is that they mention that video chat and support for VoIP calling over WiFi will be standard features of Android 3.0. Video chat is now becoming a must for future handset owners, so prospective Android buyers should be pretty pleased about that.

Along with their report on Gingerbread, they have also obtained a ‘very’ blurry image of a Nexus One running Gingerbread – it’s extremely hard to pick out anything juding by that picture though. If you’re interested, check out the whole thing at Phandroid here.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming release of Gingerbread? It is now expected to release early 2011.

You have to wonder what other surprises Google has in store, as although we haven’t heard any details regarding the next version of Android after Gingerbread, we have information on a new, unannounced version of Android OS.

As reported from Droid-Life, the new name was revealed by ARM president Tudor Brown and it once again follows Google’s tradition of naming their mobile operating systems after desserts.

According to Brown, Android 4.0 will be titled ‘Ice Cream’, although a name was all that was disclosed for the moment. It is pretty mind boggling to think that Google already has plans for Android 4.0, even though we haven’t had any hints on Android 3.5 Honeycomb, or even Android 3.0 Gingerbread for that matter.

If Android 4.0 is a reality, when will it release? We’re guessing sometime in 2012, but that still doesn’t explain why the ARM president is mentioning it so early.

What are your thoughts on Android 4.0 Ice Cream? Are you expecting big things from Google?

We have some interesting details to bring you now, as it has been rumored that Google’s Android 3.0 Gingerbread update is already available on some Nexus One handsets. We have a picture to show you now, perhaps it could be fake.

As reported from Phandroid, a screenshot has been released, allegedly showing the settings page on the Nexus One device. However, as you can see in the image, we can’t tell if this is actually a Nexus One handset, so it could have been the result of a photoshop artist.

Either way, the settings page shows the firmware number at 3.0, which is Google’s next big update to Android. Details are pretty scarse on Gingerbread at the moment – could this possibly be a test model or not?

Check out the image below and let us know what you think of it.

We have some important news for those of you who are planning to pick up a Windows Phone 7 handset later on this year, as we are hearing reports that the OS can be customized after all, with HTC interested in building their Sense UI on top of Microsoft’s OS.

As reported from Engadget, Microsoft originally stated that Windows Phone 7 devices wouldn’t be able to be modified by manufacturers. However, it looks like the Windows Phone 7 OS won’t be completely locked after all, and some upcoming HTC devices may come with HTC Sense on top of WP7.

Furthermore, HTC’s Drew Bamford has even hinted that Android 3.0 Gingerbread may incorporate Windows Phone 7 features into their future handsets – in some sort of crazy hybrid handset no doubt.

What are your thoughts on this? Does the idea of Android, HTC Sense and WP7 combined interest you or not? More details over at Engadget.
