We have some good news for PC owners of Alien Vs Predator now, as Rebellion has released another patch for the game onto Steam. This time, its a pretty big update – we have the full update log for you.

As reported from VG247, key changes relate to the dedicated servers, as you’ll now be able to use DLC maps, which were released last week. Further more, you will not have to run Steam to have access to dedicated server files – which is convenient.

As for in-game changes, you’ll be pleased to know that the Predator Smart Disc has been tweaked – as it will not be as damaging to other opponents, unless it is a headshot of course, then you’re screwed. The Plasma Cannon has also been tweaked, as it will no longer knock you to the ground whenever you are hit.

There are a ton of bug fixes to tell you about, which we couldn’t possibly list every one here. Read the full patch notes from Steam here.

Let us know how you get on, or if you think they have missed anything off the list.

I’m sure this piece of news will be like an early Christmas present for owners of Aliens Vs Predator, as it has been confirmed that a patch update is on the way for the game – intended to fix up the series of issues affecting the multiplayer portion of the game.

As reported from VG247, Rebellion states that the update will affect the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, and will add balancing and weapon tweaks, along with a fix to stop issues related to XP when playing offline.

The developer also adds that Xbox 360 owners of the game, won’t have to wait as long to get into a match – so thats good news for you.

Personally, I hope the flamethrower has been sorted out. Thats one of the worst things about the game at the moment.

Let us know your thoughts on the patch. We’ll let you know when it is live.

While I am thoroughly enjoying the single player campaigns in the recently released Aliens Vs Predator game on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, I have come across several issues related to the multiplayer portion of the game.

While it seems as if the initial match-making problems found in the demo have been solved, there is several in-game issues that I feel need to be addressed with a patch update to the game – I’m sure Sega are aware of this anyway.

The first of which is the Flamethrower. It doesnt actually appear to help the marine in any way. From my observations, it looks like the weapon needs to become a lot more powerful in order to be effective against Predators and Aliens. By the time you spend using the secondary mode of the weapon or stand there emptying a clip into your foe, you are already dead. I always thought that the flamethrower should be one of the deadliest weapons – not the worst.

Another issue I’ve come across is that there seems to be a lot of players (who are hosting) who quit the game after a few rounds, or when they know they are not going to receive much XP. This is incredibly annoying, as you’ll find that no-one else receives XP for that match, rendering the whole match useless.

I’d like to see some sort of host migration feature (seen in Modern Warfare 2) which will ensure that angry hosts who quit the game, do not spoil the XP bonuses for everyone else.

Other than that, I’m loving the game. The modes available are pretty fun, especially species deathmatch and predator hunt. Now if I could only master the Marine species, I’d be a happy chappy.

We’ll contact SEGA regarding the above issues. Let us know if you have any other queries regarding the game, especially if you’ve spotted any other problems we should know about.

Following on from the US and EU release of Aliens Vs Predator last week on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, we can now confirm that the game is the fastest selling game of 2010 so far, beating the likes of BioShock 2 in the progress.

As reported from VG247, the game has also gone straight to the top of the UK all-format charts, knocking off BioShock 2 from the top spot, who are now positioned in 3rd behind Ubisoft’s Just Dance.

While the game may have some issues with its multiplayer segment, its no doubt that the game is very enjoyable to play.

Hopefully a few patches along the way will make gameplay much more smoother and keep you happy until some DLC is out.

Are you surprised with the success of AvP or not?

Some disappointing news for Playstation 3 owners looking to pick up Aliens Vs Predator this week, as Sega has just confirmed that the planned release date for the PDLC content has been delayed.

Sega just told us over at their blog that they have been encountering ‘problems’ with the PDLC content for the PS3 version specifically.

They have now said that the revised release date should be February 25th, but no doubt that this will be a blow to PS3 owners who expected it much sooner.

Users with DLC codes are advised to hold onto them until this date, as the problem is not related to retailers – according to Sega.

What are your thoughts on this?

UPDATE: Sega has now stated that the delay applies to North America only, so Europeans will still get DLC content from day one.

Ok there are two sides to this one. While all the media released prior to AvP’s launch this week was very impressive, we know that there will be some of you who will opt away from buying this game, as a result of the various demo problems that became apparent.

We have decided to cast a poll, to see how many of you were planning to pick up the game, but have now decided against doing so, as a result of frustration over the demo.

What problems are we talking about? Well, there was constant match-making problems specifically in the PS3 version of the game, which Rebellion has only got round to fixing via a patch update, but is it too late I wonder?

From a personal point of view, hell no. I’ll be getting this game from day one, and having already sampled the game last year, my thirst for it remains a plenty.

Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming game, by casting your vote. Guess I’ll catch you in the servers.

As reported from Eurogamer, players who purchase the Special Edition of AvP will gain exclusive access to four new multiplayer maps as soon as the game is released.

For everyone else though, these maps will be become available as DLC at some point after release, while Tim Jones also confirmed that further DLC is in the pipeline as well.

After having a chance to try out the mulitplayer segment last November, and watching all the various media teases that Sega have been releasing along the way, I can definitely recommend this game for those still unsure whether to buy or not.

The long awaited multiplayer demo for Alien vs Predator will be available today, I was lucky enough to play a multiplayer demo of the game in 2009 at the Eurogamer EXPO, I must say the game was very impressive and a completely unique experience for me.

The multiplayer mode has the look and feel of a standard first-person shooter, however as there is the choice between a Colonial Marine, Alien or Predator the gameplay can differ dramatically.

Each ‘race’ has different benefits, it has been a while since I played it, however from what I can remember playing as Predator allows you to go invisible and pounce upon enemies.

Playing as Alien allows you to walk on all surfaces, traveling as Alien can be quite disorientating as you can often be upside-down etc.

The demo will be available on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam for PC gamers today, the official release of the game will take place on February 16th in America and 19th of February in Europe.

We have some great news for gamers looking to pick up Aliens Vs Predator on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, as SEGA has just confirmed that a demo will be released before the final release of the game, although a set date has not yet been met.

As reported from Eurogamer, Rebellion’s Alex Moore revealed the juicy news during an recent interview in which he said: “There will be a demo, that’s all we can say,”

Not much more to say on the matter really, until we hear news of a solid release date. Most of you will already know that Lance ‘Bishop’ Henriksen will be appearing in the game, while the latest ‘Marine’ trailer for the game is pretty darn awesome.

Let us know if you’ll be picking up the game. Our hands-on preview from last year’s Eurogamer Expo can be seen here.
