We recently told you about the upcoming release of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare which is a spin-off title due to be released in February, but now we may have the first hints on the possibility that developers Remedy Entertainment are already starting work on Alan Wake 2.

The Finnish developers were keen to point out that American Nightmare is not a true sequel to the original Alan Wake title and that something bigger and better will be coming after American Nightmare hits on Xbox Live.

We could have just a hint of Remedy getting the ball rolling now, as they have recently posted a job listing on their website, looking for a gameplay /AI programmer which will aid them on a ‘groundbreaking’ ‘AAA’ console project. It could be a brand new IP from the company but we predict that it is Alan Wake 2 since they always said a sequel would be coming after the successful Alan Wake game which many of you loved.

Just to point out, Remedy are also responsible for developing the first two Max Payne games along with Rockstar, but the upcoming release of Max Payne 3 will see Remedy Entertainment step away from the franchise so this job listing rules out the possibility of the game being Max Payne 3. Considering that Remedy does not have any other ‘AAA’ franchises on their books, then this is probably a safe bet that they have already started developing for Alan Wake 2.

Will it be ready before the end of the year though, or are they going to expand on American Nightmare with some additional DLC after release? We showed you some gameplay from American Nightmare last week and considering how good that looks, it can only mean good things for Alan Wake 2.

Take a look at the listing here courtesy of GamerZines and let us know your thoughts on it. Do you believe this is the first signs of Alan Wake 2? How highly do you rate the franchise?

We have some fantastic news for PC gamers now, as in a perhaps surprising turn of events, developers Remedy Entertainment have confirmed that Alan Wake is to be re-released on PC. The game was originally released as an Xbox 360 exclusive in 2010 remember, to rave reviews as well.

Xbox 360 owners who played the game will be the first ones to say how good Alan Wake is, so it is definitely a good piece of news for PC owners. Xbox 360 owners in the meantime can look forward to the second major title in the new franchise, a game called Alan Wake’s American Nightmare which was announced at the recent 2011 VGAs.

It’s important to point out that this isn’t Alan Wake 2 though, rather an independent game which expands on the first title further. While a sequel is definitely coming at a later stage, Alan Wake fans can now look forward to American Nightmare releasing in the first quarter of 2012.

Will there be perhaps be an element of jealousy from PS3 owners reading this piece of news we wonder? Just like Left 4 Dead, PS3 users have seen another great game pass them by, and Alan Wake is the next title to ponder the thoughts of PS3 owners and contemplate ‘what if’?

It’s the same story for Xbox 360 owners in a way with Uncharted 3, that’s the way this industry operates these days. One additional incentive to pick up the PC version of Alan Wake if you haven’t played it, is the fact that the game will come bundled with the two pieces of DLC that became available for the Xbox 360 version – These are The Signal and The Writer respectively.

If you have played the Xbox 360 version, what are your memories of Alan Wake? Would you recommend this title to PC owners or not? If you’re a PS3 reading the news, do you somehow wish that Alan Wake came to the PlayStation 3?

Earlier in the month we spoke about how the next Alan Wake game will not be version two, and recent news seems to suggest just that. Maybe there will be an Alan Wake Flash game announcement during E3. This could be heading for Xbox LIVE only and might be called Night Springs if a new website is anything to go by.

Gematsu explains how the new website could be used as a Flash game to show it to the world next week. We only have one week to go, so sure you will be able to wait until then. We do hope that you are not Apple fans, as you would have already had to take in the keynote during WWDC 2011 the day before?

Not much more is known at this time, but it was obvious that a second version would not make it this year. However, we are sure that fans of the first game will take whatever is on offer. Many gamers say that Alan Wake is underrated, and does not get the attention that it deserves, and they certainly have point.

Alan Wake did not set any sales records, as figures were very low. The reason for this was due to the fact that it never had the kind of budget that some of the other big games get. However, it is now seen as a cult game, and for that reason will have a decent size following – just perfect for XBLA.

You may remember yesterday we spoke about how someone may have inadvertently leaked information regarding Alan Wake 2, well now we have some more information which claims that the next game will not be a sequel, nor will it be DLC.

According to a recent article posted on JoyStiq it seems as if Remedy Entertainment has now confirmed that they are working on the next Alan Wake game, it will not be called Alan Wake 2, in fact Remedy only refer to the game as the next Wake installment.

Remedy was keen to say that they will explain exactly what they have in store for us when they make the game’s official announcement, chances are this will occur in a months time at E3 2011, we guess it all depends on how the game’s development is going.

As JoyStiq point out the statement from Remedy leaves us a little confused, if it is not an Alan Wake sequel what is it? Could it be that Alan Wake is coming to different platforms? Could it be a new Wake game which requires you to use Kinect? We just don’t know.

Towards the end of Remedy’s statement they suggest that no release date, platforms or pricing details have been confirmed, however Fall 2011 “is probably a good guess”.

What do you think we will see with the next Wake installment?

Last year Remedy Entertainment‘s psychological thriller Alan Wake was released, this game was well received by critics and despite being an Xbox 360 exclusive it sold very well, now it looks like Alan Wake 2 could well be on its way.

According to ScrawlFX it looks like someone’s LinkedIn profile may have confirmed the games existence, a previs artist named Althea Suarez Gata mentioned the game on LinkedIn, if you check out this link you can see what she said.

Althea appeared to let it slip that she worked with Halon Entertainment on some in-game cinematics for Alan Wake 2, Halon Entertainment claims to be dedicated to the art of film making, advertising and development and by the looks of things they may have worked with Bungie on Halo: Reach.

Since ScrawlFX posted on their blog Althea’s LinkedIn profile has been amended and no-longer mentions Alan Wake 2, to us this sounds like she may have leaked this news inadvertently and deleted it as soon as she realized what she had done.

We wonder if we may see an Alan Wake 2 trailer next month at E3, perhaps we will see some of her artwork. Do you think a sequel should be made?

The second lot of downloadable content for Alan Wake has today hit Xbox Live, this is called “The Writer” and can be added to your Xbox 360′s download queue here.

This DLC costs 560 Microsoft Points ($7.00), the download itself is 477 MB in size so shouldn’t take too long, as you would expect the Writer DLC finds Alan in some strange circumstances and nightare-like situations.

The Writer DLC will apparently be the last add-on for Alan Wake, the CEO of Remedy has previously stated that this content will “conclude things and have some intense action”.

These comments surely make this add-on a must have for any Alan Wake fans, will you buy “The Writer” DLC?

Today is a great day for fans of Alan Wake, this is because free DLC has arrived on the Xbox Live Marketplace, this DLC is called “The Signal”.

This download content adds a complete new episode to the game, here is the DLC’s official description “In this first Add-on pack for Alan Wake we find Wake facing a threat unlike anything he’s ever encountered before — and yet one he’s intimately familiar with. In order to make sense of it all, he must follow the Signal”.

As previously mentioned the DLC is completely free, to add it to your download queue check out this link, the download itself is just 48MB in size.

Remedy Entertainment has already confirmed that a second add-on will be coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace, there is no known scheduled release date at present, however we do know that it will be called the “The Writer” and will cost 560 Microsoft Points.

Have you download the Signal DLC? If so, are struggling with the new episode?

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game Alan Wake has been on the market for six weeks now and has reached half a million in sales – not bad for a game that does not have the same hype as Call of Duty or the Halo series. At the last count more than 26,000 copies were shifted in the week leading up to June 19, 2010.

According to Robert Cram from MSXbox who got the figures from VGChartz, believes that sales will not slow down and will continue for months to come – maybe even picking up as we get closer to the holiday season. Cram points out that there could be a surge in sales in July when new downloadable content is made available.

There are concerns that five hundred thousand copies for a game that was years in development is not that great in the grand scheme of things, but we should wait to see how things turn out in its first year. As we said the DLC will be available from next month and could increase sales – we have to wait and see.

Maybe by Christmas Alan Wake will reach one million in sales, until now just enjoy the game – you will not be disappointed.

Alan Wake has only been released for just over a week, however it seems as if it’s developer Remedy Entertainment are doing their utmost to keep the game fresh by releasing DLC, previously we have spoken about ‘The Signal’ DLC , we are now hearing details regarding the game’s second DLC, which will be called ‘The Writer’.

Currently we know that ‘The Signal’ DLC will arrive on July 27th, therefore we can pretty much guarantee that ‘The Writer’ DLC will probably launch in August or September, we can confirm that the DLC will set you back 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Apparently this DLC will see Alan Wake finding himself in strange circumstances, the description reads “The Writer, finds Wake in strange circumstances; now fully aware of the thing that opposes him, he must survive one increasingly nightmarish situation after another”.

Personally I am slightly annoyed that two DLC titles have already been announced, obviously you have the choice not to buy them, but it seems these days that some developers are concentrating on DLC more than patching problems and delivering a more substantial game on the disc.

Will you buy both DLCs?

As you may already know the North American release of Alan Wake took place today, however I am sure there are plenty of gamers out there still debating whether or not to buy the Xbox 360 exclusive.

If you are one of these undecided gamers you may want to check out the final Alan Wake trailer, this trailer is called “Building the Drama” and has been embedded at the end of this post.

The trailer emphasizes the game’s mysterys and mind-games, to be honest the trailer is more like a thriller film trailer rather than a video game, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

So far reviews have been great for Alan Wake, if you check out Metacritic’s Alan Wake page you can find links to plenty of reputable reviews.

Did this trailer convince you to buy Alan Wake?
