Prior to the announcement of The Evil Within by Bethesda, we saw the publisher tease the game using the social media platform Vine. Very brief video teasers were released for the game to build up excitement for its eventual reveal, and now we have seen evidence of Activision pulling the very same stunt to promote Call of Duty Ghosts.

Ghosts is the next entry in the series and will be released during Fall as normal, developed by Infinity Ward also as normal – taking over from Treyarch who are starting to wrap up development on Black Ops 2. We have previously shown you rumors for the game that suggested that 6 playable ‘ghosts’ soldiers will be available in the title.

Now, Activision has given us a possible glimpse at two of them, by releasing a 5 second snippet of some behind the scenes footage – with key details like the soldiers and environments being obscured by polygons. At the end of the clip, we see Activision again remind the world that the game will be shown off for the first time at Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox event this Tuesday.

With players still addicted to Black Ops 2 though, is there a danger that the Call of Duty hype is starting to wear off now with the constant annual releases? In our opinion, Activision and Infinity Ward really need to show a new formula with Ghosts, otherwise people may overlook the game after being disappointed with Modern Warfare 3.

Meanwhile, if you head to the official Call of Duty website, you can also see some further cryptic teasers on the game as well – coming in the form of various numbers and text scribbled on pieces of paper. One of the official slogans for the game appears to be ‘we are all we’ve got’. but let’s hope that gameplay is mixed up in a big way to keep things fresh after Black Ops 2.

See the tease for yourself here and let us know your initial clues on it. Do you agree that we need to see something entirely new for Ghosts this time?

We have some fantastic news for PC gamers now, as we can reveal that Black Ops 2 multiplayer will be free to play the whole weekend. Not only that, but the game will also be discounted on Steam and Double XP weekend is also live across all platforms and playlists as well. Not bad at all for those planning to stay in.

We seem to be seeing a frequent amount of Double XP weekends for Black Ops 2, but that obviously isn’t a bad thing. If you are still looking to collect the next prestige level, this weekend will be the perfect time to do so – with the event officially starting on Friday May 10 at 10:00AM Pacific time , till May 13 at 10:00AM Pacific time.

Don’t forget that Double XP will also be active on the Xbox 360, PS3 and even the Wii U version of the game. As for PC specifically though, there’s a few notable extras in store. The game will be completely free to play over the weekend until 1PM Pacific time on Sunday – giving you the perfect opportunity to sample the game if you haven’t yet for some reason.

On top of that, those looking to buy the game can do so with a 33% discount – meaning that the game is available for $40.19 – not bad for one of the most popular games of 2012 which is still being played endlessly today. How many of you have yet to touch the single-player at all since launch we wonder?

So there we have it. Call of Duty may have its enemies, but you can’t beat amazing offers like this. Let us know if you plan to stay in now for a free Black Ops 2 session.

In the most inevitable piece of news this week, Activision has finally officially confirmed that Call of Duty Ghosts is going to be the next title in the popular shooter franchise. The company also confirmed that COD Ghosts will indeed have a release date of November 5. We now have the debut trailer to show you, and evidence that Microsoft’s Xbox systems will once again take priority before any other platforms.

The debut trailer for Call of Duty Ghosts doesn’t give away much, but what is more significant is that Activision has said that Call of Duty Ghosts gameplay will be available for viewing at Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox reveal, or the Xbox 720 as it has been christened by popular belief.

Microsoft has also chimed in on the announcement of Ghosts, once again reminding the world that the “Call of Duty series has firmly established its home on the Xbox 360, with the game’s largest and most engaged community”, compared to PS3 and PC. The game has been confirmed for the next-gen Xbox first and foremost, but also for ‘other next generation consoles’ as well – so basically it’s coming to PS4, but they couldn’t even mention it by name, as ridiculous as that is.

It also means that exclusivity on the Xbox 360 and next Xbox for Call of Duty Ghosts is another certainty at this point, so it’s pretty much business as usual. Ghosts will be coming on a brand new engine which lines up with earlier rumors, and has been described as a ‘new chapter’ for the series, moving on from Modern Warfare 4 – which ‘everyone expected it to be’ – according to Infinity Ward.

Considering that this isn’t a new Modern Warfare game, there may be a lot more interest in the game this time, especially with a brand new engine running the show. We are very interested to see how the Xbox 360 and next-gen Xbox versions differ, as that could become a key area which determines initial new Xbox hardware sales for Microsoft.

As we look forward to the first gameplay on May 21 on the new Xbox, give us your initial reaction to Call of Duty Ghosts. Are you looking forward to another Call of Duty game with Microsoft exclusivity or not?

Activision still hasn’t officially announced Call of Duty Ghosts next as the next title in the franchise after Black Ops 2, but you can rest assured that it is definitely coming in November. Multiple pieces of new evidence has once again highlighted a release date for Call of Duty Ghosts, meaning that once again – a new Call of Duty game is going to go head to head with a new Battlefield game for your money.

While Battlefield 4 looks very impressive running on the brand new Frostbite 3 engine, there may be increased interest in the next Call of Duty game, as we’re finally going to see a new Call of Duty game that will run on a brand new game engine. When the game was initially leaked by Target and Tesco, we told you that the first potential release date for the game was November 5.

Now, posters and other pieces of promotional material are popping up everywhere it seems, all of which once again name drop the November 5 release date. Activision has shown in the past that they are not a fan of their products leaking before an official announcement, but it looks like they are now powerless to prevent the key information on Call of Duty Ghosts slipping out.

With the game now confirmed for a November 5 release date, we just need Activision to reveal the debut trailer for the game and confirm whether Infinity Ward is once again back on developing duties after taking a mini break after Modern Warfare 3. Many gamers were expecting Modern Warfare 4 to be the title of the next game, but we’re hearing that the two will still be heavily connected with each other, with Ghosts still adopting the Modern Warfare theme that we’ve seen down the line.

A full reveal is expected later on Wednesday, so hopefully we’ll have the trailer to show you very soon. Let us know if you are happy or sad that another Call of Duty is on the way after Black Ops 2. Do you still have love for the franchise, or is it beginning to get very boring for you?

It looks like there may just be some third-party light at the end of the tunnel after all for Nintendo’s Wii U console. After recent disappointments on seeing Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 announced without mention of the Wii U, we have the first glimpse of a possible Wii U release for the next Call of Duty game, which could end up being called Ghosts.

If you have been keeping up with the latest COD rumors, you’ll know that Tesco and Target both recently jumped the gun in a big way, with both retailers providing listings for the unannounced title, along with a Call of Duty Ghosts potential release date of November 5.

At the time when the listings were live, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions were mentioned, as well as the arrival of next-generation versions as well at a later date. The Wii U however, was absent so it’s nice to see rumors suggesting that it could happen after all.

A Spanish retailer by the name of XtraLife has listed the game, claiming that Call of Duty Ghosts on the Wii U will release on November 11 – so a different launch date than other console versions, apparently. Obviously this is by no means confirmed yet, but we would definitely be a little surprised if the Wii U didn’t get a version, considering that Activision brought Black Ops 2 to the Wii U.

Nintendo’s version was arguably the best looking out of the console versions as well, so there really isn’t an excuse for Infinity Ward not to bring out Ghosts on the Wii U, if it really is the name of the next COD title. It’s worth noting that the listing has since been deleted and brings you back to the homepage of the retailer in question.

Is this a sign that the information is true? A full box art scan be seen over at NintendoEverything in the process. If you are a Wii U owner reading this, let us know if you are optimistic about the console’s third-party situation at the moment.

We haven’t heard any details on Modern Warfare 4 for a while, but it looks like momentum is now starting to gather on a possible reveal soon. It’s no secret that a new Call of Duty game arrives each year and MW4 is highly likely to be Infinity Ward’s next game to arrive during the 2013 Holiday Season.

Having said that, Activision has remained silent in recent weeks, despite the fact that we are now gearing towards E3 2013 when the next Call of Duty game will undoubtedly be shown properly. This week we point you in the direction of an alleged poster that was recently spotted, appearing to suggest that a big MW4 reveal was due to happen on March 21.

The poster contains the 3.21.13 date, along with the accompanied text ‘the most unexpected reveal ever’. There are also logos for Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, Raven and also Neversoft as well, which are joined by the standard Call of Duty and Activision logos that we always see on official posters for COD content.

We have obviously passed the aforementioned March 21 date and it appears that we don’t have any major update from Activision yet. What we do have though as related information is a ‘Modern Warfare 4 movie trailer’ above, which is also subtitled the ‘the most unexpected reveal ever’.

This is a live action movie which at the moment is unconfirmed on whether it is actually related to Modern Warfare 4 the game. What you may be interested in seeing though, is further detective work into the unexpectedreveal domain. If you take a look at this website here, you’ll see that Infinity Ward is mentioned along with an address and telephone number.

As always though, treat this as a carefully crafted fan project designed to fool you, until we hear some evidence from Activision about the movie or poster. We can’t be too far off though from an official reveal – let us know what you need to see from Modern Warfare 4, to top Black Ops 2 and of course Battlefield 4.

As most of you are well aware, Black Ops 2 brings back the much loved custom emblem editor to the game, allowing users to create their very own design to be used on their playercard with no restrictions and no initial approval process needed from Treyarch. Given the general player base that is associated with the game, you can imagine that there is going to be more than a few occasions when some players decide to bend the rules a bit with what is allowed. More specifically, there’s been a growing number of users who have taken joy in creating swastika emblems or penises, or in some cases – a combination of both.

We had the same problem in the first Black Ops game and now it looks like it is starting to become a big headache for Treyarch and Activision with Black Ops 2 as well. Emblems of a sexual or offensive nature are obviously not allowed and we’re now seeing evidence of Treyarch stepping up with their emblem editor bans, which are temporary or permanent depending on repeated offenders.

The issue has become so severe in-game, that it has forced Activision’s community manager Dan Amrich to write a rather lengthy post on his blog stating that he is ‘tired of the emblem nonsense’ that is going on at the moment, adding his thoughts on why it’s not just not acceptable for the offensive material to continue.

Treyarch should have known that this would happen again, especially when they let players create emblems without any approval process beforehand. Then again, if they do put in these measures – it would be millions and millions of emblems that someone has to scan through on a daily basis and that would obviously be pretty time consuming.

Do they ban the editor all together just because the minority is making penis swastikas? Hopefully they don’t, as we’ve seen some pretty amazing creations in game like the image of Psy you can see above. If you are a regular Black Ops 2 player and have seen your fair share of adult themed emblems, let us know what you think should happen.

Should the editor require an approval process, or does Treyarch need to start enforcing multiplayer bans to send the message across?

It looks like the world is set for another Modern Warfare 4 game. After the mixed reaction to MW3, some gamers had wondered whether Activision may take the series in a different direction after Treyarch finishes up with Black Ops 2, but some recent information has seemingly confirmed that Infinity Ward will once again be behind the helms for the fourth entry in the MW series.

It’s no secret that Modern Warfare generally features some very well known voice actors in the games, and one of the instantly recognizable voices has to be Captain Price, who is played by English actor Billy Murray.

He has apparently confirmed to a fan that Modern Warfare 4 is in development by Infinity Ward and that he will be meeting Activision and the developer on Monday 5th November to discuss his new voice parts in the game – and a lot more too we suspect once Activision hears about the leak.

The information apparently let slip on an airplane, as Bill Murray bumped into a fan, who also happened to be editor of the ThisisXbox website. A photo of the two men together can be seen on the site as evidence and Infinity Ward has already wasted no time in trying to distance themselves from the story, stating that it is pure speculation only.

We have a feeling that Infinity Ward may just be covering their tracks as it was already highly likely that Activision would keep churning out a new Modern Warfare game anyway. Perhaps they are trying to pull a Rockstar on us and deny any news on the game until the last minute, in order to build up further hype and anticipation.

They may also see the news leaking as a negative, since everyone has only just played MW3 and if they didn’t like it, they’ll be wondering whether it’s a good move for Activision to bring out Modern Warfare 4 already – nobody likes bad PR at the end of the day.

From our point of view though, what is the big deal if the news is already out in the open about MW4? Gamers are still going to flock to the shops and pick this up at the first opportunity, so if anything Activision should embrace the current buzz around the game and make everyone even happier with a screenshot, rather than push to deny at the first opportunity.

Are you happy that Modern Warfare 4 appears to have been confirmed? If so, let us know what changes you would like to see in the next game as it’s clear that it didn’t please everyone.

After months of anticipation surrounding the elusive Black Ops: Declassified game on the PS Vita, we finally got a proper glimpse of the title after Sony unveiled a new trailer right at the end of their GamesCom press conference.

Before the event, details on the game were shrouded in mystery as we didn’t even know who was developing the game and we had no indication on what the graphics and gameplay quality would look like on that lovely 5-inch OLED screen.

The good news, is that both those questions have been answered, but the bad news is that you may not like what you’re about to hear. The game is being developed by Nihilistic Software, who you may be very familiar with if you have already picked up Resistance Burning Skies.

Truth be told, that game didn’t really fair well with review scores and the game came under considerable criticism for its below par graphics. There was a lot of hope that Declassified would end up looking on par with console versions of Call of Duty, but after watching the trailer we can safely say that this won’t be the case.

While the game will feature true online multiplayer over WiFi for up to 8 players in 4v4 matchups, the graphics are looking a little suspect already and are obviously not a true representation of what the Vita can produce. It actually looks like a step backwards in graphics quality and it’s a big shame, since this aspect may end up taking the gloss away from what could still turn out to be a solid title, in gameplay terms.

Sony also announced Killzone Mercenary for the Vita and it’s not a stretch to say that the game looks better than Declassified from a graphical standpoint. One sole reason for this is that Guerilla Games are also developing this, with Sony not drafting in a different developmental team as we often see with Activision.

Activision should have rehired Neversoft to remake the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD game and they probably should have hired a small unit inside Treyarch to work on Black Ops: Declassified instead. Watch the debut gameplay trailer below and let us know what you think of the graphics for Declassified.

Are you a bit shocked at the level of quality as well, or is it just us? We’ve seen iOS games looking better than this.

We previously told you that GameStop had managed to get a major coup in having a Black Ops 2 multiplayer reveal as part of their upcoming expo at the end of this month. We initially thought that this may be the first time that we see multiplayer in action, however Activision has dropped an exciting bombshell by revealing that we’re going to see multiplayer gameplay a lot sooner.

With all of the single player gameplay shown for Black Ops 2 so far, it’s no secret that multiplayer is heavily desired now that the game is going to take on a whole new theme by being set in the year 2025. Futuristic Call of Duty multiplayer is a big attraction for many gamers and we can now tell you that multiplayer is going to be revealed on Wednesday August 8.

That means that we’re just a few days away and Activision couldn’t hide their excitement themselves as they announced the news on Twitter.

“In just 4 days, we reveal #BlackOps2MP. RT if you’re ready to see Multiplayer in action.”

It also means that by the end of the week, the only major reveal left to come for Black Ops 2 is obviously the brand new zombie mode, which we’re guessing Treyarch will keep secret for as long as possible. It would probably be a close fight if you asked gamers what would they prefer to see between multiplayer and zombies, but we’re just glad that we’re finally getting some new info at last.

The lack of Black Ops 2 Declassified info on Vita is also very disappointing to a lot of you, so let’s hope this multiplayer reveal will open the barriers for more Declassified info during GamesCom when the Vita is set for a big showing. As we mentioned above, multiplayer is going to be on show at the GameStop expo on August 29. Not only is it going to be on show, but it’s going to be playable as well.

With an ‘adaptive’ campaign mode, futuristic multiplayer and the continuation of the immensely popular zombie mode, is this going to be the most successful Call of Duty game in history?
