It’s fair to say that a lot of people are expecting really big things from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD remake. After hearing the great news that Robomodo are planning to incorporate some of the original soundtrack into the new game, we’re now hearing that they have plans to input some of the levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 into the game.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 remains one of our favorite games ever and we just hope that Robomodo does this remake justice. On the evidence seen so far, they are certainly doing that and upon hearing that the game will be based on levels from Tony Hawk’s 1 and 2, it’s great to see that they are not leaving Tony’s Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 out either.

A recent Facebook post from Robomodo has revealed that the first batch of post-release DLC for the game will be levels from THPS3. However, they haven’t decided what levels to include in this DLC yet and are reaching out to the THPS universe to aid them with their selections.

As you may have guessed, Airport seems to be the most requested map from what we can see, although Cruise Ship and Canada are getting a fair amount of votes as well. Skater Island would be another popular choice if that is to be included as well, but pretty much all of the maps have their own qualities.

It’s nice to see Robomodo asking the community for their input as after all, the remake wouldn’t have been made without the die hard following of the previous games. We can’t wait to see what kind of secret characters will be playable in the game. Imagine seeing some of the Avengers in there? Perhaps a long shot but you never know! If you played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 religiously, let us know what your levels picks would be for DLC.

The game releases this Summer on Xbox 360 and PS3.

To say that Modern Warfare 3 players on Xbox 360 get treated a little better than those on PS3 and PC is an understatement. Even more so, when you find out what is coming next as part of the Content Collection 2 DLC pack this month.

We thought that Elite members on Xbox 360 would just be getting four new multiplayer maps to play, but Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have gone one better than that. Starting from May 15, you’ll be able to play a new multiplayer mode called Face-Off, which pits you against your opponent in a 1Vs1 deathmatch in four brand new smaller designed maps to accomodate the new mode.

You can also play Face-Off with a friend in a 2v2 battle and it works via split-screen as well which is good. The four maps that are exclusive to the Face-Off mode are Erosion, Aground, Getaway and Lookout. How about this though – the first two Face-Off maps Aground and Erosion are actually free to download on May 15 and you don’t need an Elite subscription either. No Activision evil scheme going on here folks, it is a free download on Xbox 360 – no word on whether it will apply to PS3 and PC though, but we expect so.

Aside from the new Face-Off mode and maps, you’ll also be getting three new standard multiplayer maps on the Content Collection 2. Two of these you’ll already know as Sanctuary and Foundation since they are out on Elite, but the last is a brand new map called Oasis.

Finally, there’s another two new Spec Ops missions – Killswitch and Ironclad. The latter of which sounds the most exciting to us, as you’ll actually get to drive a tank and use its weapons which should put a smile on some of your faces.

That is a lot of content you have to say, and we’re pleasantly surprised about those two free Face-Off maps as well. The Content Collection releases on May 22nd on Xbox Live, but you can get it a week earlier on May 15 if you have an Elite subscription – the May 15 date still applies to everyone though regarding the two free Face-Off maps.

You can read descriptions of all the new maps in the updated Content Calendar here. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming Content Collection 2 DLC pack – will you be buying it or have you given up on Call of Duty until Black Ops 2 arrives?

Activision may have already revealed that they will be unveiling the next Call of Duty game on May 1st, but it looks like one US retailer has jumped the gun rather early with regards to expected Black Ops 2 details.

Although Activision are still yet to confirm the true identity of their next Call of Duty game, it looks a forgone conclusion with everyone assuming that it will be Black Ops 2. The latest source to jump on the Black Ops 2 bandwagon a little early is none other than Target, as images have revealed not only the logo for the upcoming game, but also what appears to be a solid release date as well.

The image has been provided by IGN and it surprisingly reveals a ”II” next to Black Ops, rather than the number 2 which perhaps a lot of you were anticipating. Furthermore, Target’s retail listings also unveil a November 13 2012 release date for the game, a date which shouldn’t really come as a surprise since all Call of Duty games traditionally release in the first few weeks of November.

Is it impossible for Activision to hide away from this latest leak? Over on the official website, more classified images are starting to unlock, but the most notable so far remains the first image which seemingly unveiled a ‘quadrotor’ flying drone as a new killstreak for the game.

There’s not very long at all until the ongoing countdown reaches 0 and we can’t wait to see what happens. Any last minute expectations on the game, or are you fully expecting this to be very similar to the first Black Ops game? Don’t forget to check out a rumored weapon and perks list here – there’s some very interesting additions for sure.

Activision are pressing forward with their marketing campaign for the next Call of Duty game, as the blurred image from last week has now been revealed. It links to a very interesting video which may have just confirmed that zombies will be returning once again for the new game.

To recap, Activision announced a May 1st reveal for the next game, along with a series of classified images. The first image has now been unveiled as a ‘prototype quadrotor’ flying drone device, which comes attached with a camera and machine gun.

The immediate thing to note here, is that this is a futuristic weapon. Obviously we’ll need to wait for further clues, but could we be possibly be seeing the next Black Ops game which is actually set in the future this time around? Much more exciting for us though is the inclusion of a zombie dinner party in the video, in which the demonstrator from FPSRussia uses the flying quadrotor to blow the zombies up in spectacular fashion.

Another possibility that may come to light, is that this is actually a viral video to show off one of the new Killstreaks that will be featured in the game. We had the RC buggy with a camera mounted on it in Black Ops, so this flying device with a camera and machine gun mounted instead sounds like a perfect Killstreak to us. One thing that Activision are definitely pointing out though is that this thing is deadly, so we’re guessing it may be one of the later Killstreaks if our theory is correct.

Let’s hope that we get the next classified unlock today so we can continue to unravel the mystery. Watch the video below and let us know your thoughts / ideas on it. Do you agree that this would be the perfect Killstreak, or are you more inclined to believe that this confirms a future settings for the game? A zombie poker party! Does it get any more clearer than that? Don’t forget to check out the rumored perks and weapons list here.

If you haven’t heard, Activision is planning to release yet another Spiderman game to coincide with the upcoming movie reboot of Marvel’s Spiderman franchise. The Amazing Spiderman carries the same name as the movie and you may be surprised to hear this, but it actually looks very good.

You may be thinking, here we go again – another failed movie-based game from Activision, but after watching some initial gameplay teaser previews, you are probably willing to change your minds like we did.

For the first time since we can remember, The Amazing Spiderman finally brings back true open world gameplay, with Spidey now given the freedom to swing past skyscrapers and office blocks that we didn’t see in Spiderman: Edge of Time. The game will be handled by the same developers from the previous two Spiderman games in Beenox, but we’re pleased to report that it looks like they have now gone back to the drawing board since Shattered Dimensions and delivered a game that Spiderman fans will actually be happy with.

The graphics are looking top notch this time around, but if there was one early criticism to note, it’s the use of dubstep music, which developers seem to think will add a few brownie points to their trailers. NetherRealm Studios used dubstep in Mortal Kombat which actually wasn’t so bad, however EA’s use of dubstep in their most recent Battlefield 3 destruction trailer for Close Quarters was a terrible idea. Putting dubstep into new teasers for Spiderman is embarrassing though in our opinion – it just doesn’t fit at all. What’s wrong continuing with the epic orchestra style music that you used for the very first Amazing Spiderman teaser Beenox? – that was great.

We’ve added both trailers below so you can see exactly what we’re talking about here. Do you think the dubstep fits with Spiderman swinging around the city? Because we certainly don’t. With the music aside though, we can’t wait to go hands-on with this game before release later this year. We haven’t played a decent Spiderman game since the excellent PS1 title developed by Neversoft, so hopefully this one delivers and won’t end up like those shocking Thor and Captain America games. Have any other games been given the dubstep treatment recently that you can remember?

Activision has this week spoke about their ongoing efforts to reduce the amount of cheating that has been going on in the game, but has admitted that it remains a struggle for them to keep up with the sheer amount of shenanigans that is going on in online servers at the moment.

For those of you who are oblivious to what has been going on in the PC version of the game, just check out the clip we have added below which shows the game being played with an aimbot and a wallhack. What’s even more amusing is that most of the cheats available for the PC version are even being sold online to others who want to join in.

Activision is well aware of what’s going on though, and producer Noah Heller has spoken to Eurogamer in a recent interview, reiterating that when cheaters are caught, they will get their stats reset or in some cases be banned from playing multiplayer for a period of time.

However, Heller has also revealed that the company only ban players when it is completely necessary and that they don’t want to use ‘too heavy a hand’ when it comes to dealing with cheaters. After watching that video below though, we say dish out the maximum punishment possible and just remove them from multiplayer permanently. If they go to all the trouble in creating the hacks, why not suffer a lengthy exile from the game to reflect this as well? – Makes sense to us anyway.

Have you seen any cheating in the game, either on PC or the console versions of the game? We know that boosting goes on all the time on console, but we’re yet to see any major hacks like aimbot or wallhack on console.

Just in case you still needed reminding, Activision still offers a PS3 subscription service for Call of Duty Elite. Xbox 360 users may be getting the content early, but we now have news of when Activision will release the next content drop DLC goodies on the PlayStation Store – ie, the missing Black Box and Overwatch DLC maps.

Xbox 360 owners with an Elite subscription are obviously loving life right now. They received the Overwatch map on February 21st, followed by the new Black Box map and two Spec Op missions which have just become available on Xbox Live earlier this week.

Now though, Activision has finally given some important information for PS3 Elite users, as Overwatch has been scheduled to appear in the PlayStation Store update on March 29, or perhaps sooner depending on which day Sony updates your region store.

Activision has ‘kindly’ also given PS3 users an indication of when Black Box will be arriving as well. Dan Amrich has written on his blog that he believes Black Box will arrive on April 12 on the PlayStation Store, again this could be sooner like Tuesday or Wednesday depending on your region.

Although it is obviously not ideal that you have to wait a month longer than Xbox 360 users to get the content, at least Overwatch and Black Box will be arriving in a relatively short amount of time between releases so once you have played Overwatch to death, Black Box will be ready and waiting for you.

The Subscription: How do you see Activision’s subscription service for Call of Duty panning out in the future? We’re hearing that EA also has plans for a Battlefield subscription which we’ll get onto at a later point, but do you think we will have an outcome where the majority of console FPS games will now require a monthly/annual fee for the full package? It seems to be heading down that route from where we see it, but free to play shooters such as DUST 514 does still prove that there are developers out there who are not just looking to bleed our wallets dry.

Earlier on this week we gave you the very first gameplay snippet of the upcoming Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD remake, but now we want to talk a little bit about one of the most important aspects of the franchise – the soundtrack.

Ask any Tony Hawk Pro Skater fan what was their favorite thing about THPS1, THPS2 and THPS3 and most of them will tell you it was the awesome soundtrack that Activision included with the games, with the standout soundtrack easily being the one that featured in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 on the PlayStation 1.

With the remake now firmly on the way, Activision and Tony Hawk are remaining very silent indeed on what sort of music will be accompanied with the game and it is looking very unlikely that we’ll be seeing the exact same tracks that featured in the older games. A good reasoning behind this is the issue over licensing as it will undoubtedly be a huge headache for Activision to contact each and every artist that featured in the old games to renew another deal for their inclusion in the remake.

We would love for this to happen of course, but we just don’t see it as being very logical from Activision’s point of view. A more likely scenario is that Activision pick some of the more current day tracks to be included with the remake, tracks which will probably still be great additions if they keep up with their standard from previous games.

Moving on to another aspect of the game, as Tony Hawk has recently said in an interview with Joystiq that levels from Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 & 4 may be included in the remake as paid-DLC. Given Activision’s recent reputation regarding DLC, we’re not sure we like the sound of that too much, but as long as the price is reasonable – we wouldn’t have a problem paying to see some of the classic levels from THPS 3 & 4 in their brand new lick of paint.

If the soundtrack is a key aspect of the game for you, tell us what sort of tracks you would like to see in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. Should they go retro with the soundtrack or go with modern stuff? We would love for some new Del the Funky Homosapien tracks to be in there.

If there is one game that we are really looking forward to playing this year, or should we say looking forward to revisiting, it’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. The game is looking very good indeed and we now have some new screenshots to show you of one map that a lot of you will be very familiar with.

As most of you will be aware, the game isn’t just a port of the classic original games, but rather a complete remake using a new engine which will take the best content from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1,2 and three. As expected, most of your favorite maps will be returning as well, including The Hangar, Venice Beach and School II – the latter of which we now have the first screenshots on – and boy does it bring back some great memories.

The bell rings, you wait to hear what soundtrack will be played as you try and complete as many tasks as you can in two minutes – we remember it as if it was yesterday. Getting that secret tape was a little tricky at first as well, so we wonder if Activision will leave all the items in their original places, or if they will be giving School II a complete revamp. As long as the outlook of the level stays the same, we’re definitely up for some brand new gaps and tasks to complete.

The new screenshots that Activision has released look fantastic, especially the one which you can see above. We remember that particular rail was one of the three roll call gaps to complete – will Activision keep some of the famous gaps such as this in tact? School II and Venice Beach were easily our two most favorite maps from THPS2, let’s hope that Venice Beach is the next area to be unveiled in HD.

Are you looking forward to picking up this game? Let us know some of your memories from School II.

UPDATE: Well what do you know. Tony Hawk has just revealed the first gameplay for the game in a short clip, and it looks fantastic. Even better is that the gameplay shown is largely taken from the School II level as well – those SKATE letters and the secret tape are back! Check it below.

When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 released last year there were some complaints that visually the game looked exactly the same as previous titles in the franchise. This has led to some to call for a new game engine, but could a new console be a more realistic move forward for the game?

The engine that was used for MW3 first saw the light of day back in 2005 with Call of Duty 2, and has only seen some minor tweaks since then. Velocity Gamer feels that both Treyarch and Infinity Ward know how to make a great multiplayer game, especially when it comes to bringing fans back for more. The franchise has been gaining in popularity in the last few years but it doesn’t seem that Activision has done much to improve the experience.

Currently the game has no dedicated online servers despite the huge revenue the game draws in, and not forgetting the extra income earned via DLC content. There will be some who think it is time that the game was treated to a new engine to run on, along with its own servers. The franchise big rival last time round was Battlefield 3, which was treated to the impressive Frostbite 2 engine.

We have wondered in the past whether the constant annual releasing of games such as Call of Duty are as good as titles like Skyrim and GTA V. There will obviously be no chance of Activision taking a break with Call of Duty until the next generation of consoles from Sony and Microsoft becomes available.

Recently we heard that Activision had promised the next title will bring ‘meaningful innovation’ to the franchise, which is believed to be Black Ops 2. After each Call of Duty game has been released in recent years there has been some users saying they won’t purchase another one because of the similarities. There is a good chance though the next release will again break sales records, but some fans may feel left a little cheated if the game is too similar to previous offerings.

The franchise probably won’t see a new engine on the current gen systems, and there is a good chance that developers are already working on next gen platforms already if recent job ads are anything to go by. While there were complaints of recycling with MW3 the game still sold really well, but if the practice were to continue some Call of Duty fans may at least delay getting the next release.

Do you want to see a new engine for the Call of Duty franchise?
