There were so many neat Ultrabooks at CES 2012 that we didn’t have the time to talk about each model in detail, therefore today we thought we would talk about some models which we overlooked last week, today we will let you know all about the Acer Aspire S5 and why there was so much of a buzz surround this upcoming offering.

The S5 is said to arrive in Q2 of this year, we don’t have a full spec listing or price information yet, but we do enough information to give you a pretty detailed product overview, also while we are here we will tell you what the guys over at SlashGear had to say about the S5 which they got their hands on a few days ago.

You can see Acer’s official press release here, this reveals that all S5 Ultrabooks will boast Intel Core processors (2nd-gen Core i3, i5 and i7 options we presume), this in turn means that there will be DDR3 RAM options. As for storage it looks like Acer are snubbing hard disk drive technology in favor of solid-state options, that said we wouldn’t be too surprised if some cheaper HDD options arise upon release. We don’t know a great deal about the display, but we can reveal that it has a 13.3-inch diagonal, we have also been promised professionally-tuned Dolby Home Theater v4 audio.

Other specs which we can confirm include 1x HDMI-out, 2 x USB 3.0 ports and 1 x 20 Gbps Thunderbolt, all of which are hidden by Acer’s unique MagicFlip I/O panel, this panel is activated by pressing a button located near the top-right corner of the keyboard it then expands and contracts to reveal/hide these ports. This neat feature not only looks cool but also allows the Ultrabook to be just 15mm thin at it’s thickest point – this undercuts the MacBook Air’s thickest point by 2mm, however at 3 pounds the S5 is a little heavier than the 13-inch MacBook Air. At the bottom of this post we have embedded a video which shows the MagicFlip I/O panel.

When SlashGear tested out the S5 they seemed very impressed by it’s solid build quality and desirable aesthetics, they weren’t amazed by the I/O panel or the keyboard, but ultimately they spotted nothing which put them off too much, however we have to remember that no pricing information has been disclosed just yet.

For more information about the S5 and the features it offers out-of-the-box check the link to Acer’s press release in this post’s third paragraph, do you like the MagicFlip I/O panel feature?

We’ve been hearing quite a lot from Acer recently, what with the all new products it’s unveiled over the past few months. Not only have we brought you details on the Iconia A500 and W500 tablet PCs, but we’ve also provided you with information on the much-anticipated Iconia-6120 Dual-Screen Touchbook.

Now we have news of yet another new product, as the company has just unveiled its Aspire Z5761 all-in-one touch-screen desktop PC. As Chris Davies at slashgear.com recently noted, the Z5761 comes with a choice of processors including an Intel Core i5-2400S, an i5-2500S or a Core i7-2600S.

Along with the integrated Intel HD Graphics, the Aspire Z5761 also has the option of NVIDIA’s GeForce GT440, GT435M and GT420 GPUs and a choice of hybrid digital/analog TV tuners. It also comes with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), a 2-megapixel webcam and a DVD burner/Blu-ray reader.

The Acer Aspire Z5761 all-in-one desktop – which runs Windows 7 and comes with a variety of pre-installed apps – has plenty of connectivity options including audio in/out, VGA, 8 USB 2.0 ports and a memory card reader. Other specs include a fast 5ms response time and a built in 5w stereo speaker system.

The Z5761 multi-touch touchscreen all-in-one will be available to purchase from early May, with a starting price of £799. Are you looking to buy yourself a new all-in-one desktop PC? If you are, does the Acer Aspire Z5761 interest you in any way?

We have some great news for those of you who want to pre-order the new Acer Aspire ICONIA A100 available with Android v3.0 Honeycomb, and the cost of this will make you feel there’s a bargain to be had here.

The 7-inch Android tablet will be released on April 20th and on the market for a steal at £299.99 via Amazon UK. When you translate that to United States money, this is an equivalent of $485, although it’s well known that UK prices are inflated thanks to extra taxes, so expect to pay more like $350 in the US.

The Acer Aspire ICONIA A100 has a capacitive touch screen, a resolution of 1024×600 pixels with a 2 and 5 megapixel camera, a dual-core processor (NVIDIA Tegra 2), available in 3G and Wi-Fi, and these new features let the tablet run 3D graphics processing, and display high-definition video up to 1080p with its NVIDIA processor.

Nicole Scott on Netbook News explains more about the Acer Aspire tablet, including it’s 5 hours of playback battery life with 720p video, and the tablet’s new system known as clear.fi for sharing multimedia files. Have a read of her article here or visit Amazon for more details.
