Hitachi has been showing of one of their 37-inch LCD TV’s at CEATEC. What makes this TV so special is that it is only 15mm thick. Hitachi hopes to launch the new TV some time in 2009. The TV will come with Full HD 1080p and a 1,920 × 1,080 resolution.
Hitachi has been working round the clock to try and get this TV to how thin it is today. This has been achieved by reducing the thickness of all its components, this includes the backlight.
The new thin LCD will have 150% more color reproduction range than a standard HDTV. Hitachi has been very secretive on how they achieved, do doubt we will find out in time. Looks like Hitachi are taking the fought to LG, Samsung and Panasonic.
