This coming Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of the terrible events of 9/11. The day changed the world forever and touched the lives of people around the world. You didn’t even need to know anyone directly affected by the events to feel the sadness and horror of the day. It did unite most of the world against terrorism as their thoughts turned to those who had suffered terrible losses. Today we are looking at social networks that highlight September 11 2001 with 2011 events.

Facebook have announced plans to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 on the site. There will be a Livestream titled “9/11: 10 Years Later — An Evening of Remembrance and Reflection” coming direct from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The tribute will have readings from Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Colin Powell among others. Users can tune in from 7:30 p.m. ET and click on the 9/11 Livestream button on the pages of The New Republic and the Kennedy Center.

Facebook are also encouraging users to update their profile image or dedicate their status to remember all of the almost 3,000 people who perished on 9/11. Users can also update their status to tell friends and family how they will remember and honor the victims.

Digital Journal has started a special project to mark the tenth anniversary and has invited people to share how 9/11 affected them. Users can either use Facebook to post a comment and tell the world how you were impacted by the events.

There is also a special Twitter feed called RememberSept11 where all new posts, photos, and videos will be found. We have already given you some apps to remember the event by that include The 911 Memorial: Past, Present and Future. What will you be doing to remember 9/11? Will you be posting on your Facebook or Twitter accounts?
