Now we know that there are so many better cameras on the market, but how many of them will be affordable, 3D and child friendly? You had best hurry though, as these $69.99 cameras only came onto the market yesterday, June 14, 2011.

The first choice that you will have to make is which color you want, as there are five in all: green, lavender, orange, pink and yellow. As with most camera there is no built-in storage, so you will need to make sure that you have an SD card handy. We have to inform you that these cameras add a little twist to 3D, as they are more for the child.

Once you have taken your photo – hopefully of the “Total Lunar Eclipse” later you will then need to put your SD card into your printer. You will then see a side-by-side print appear along with dotted lines to help you cut the photo out. Once you have cut the picture out you then have to place it in the provided 3D cardboard viewers.

See what we mean about different, now you can enjoy a 3D image with a difference, and the best part is that you did not have to spend hundreds of dollars on the device. This will be an ideal gift for any child, so we can see the DXG-018 3D camera doing very well this holiday season – well 3D is the in-thing at the moment. If however money is no object, then Sony has a great new range of 3D cameras and camcorders, as does JVC.

Panorama4D is available for owners of the iPhone 4 and 3GS, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4G.

Released by OWLAB, Panorama 4D is a photography application which lets users take stereoscopic 3D images with your camera even though your device only has a 2D camera.

To use you first have to extend your arms and rotate to the left side until you hit the marker. Then the application starts recording the video as you go in the other direction and stop once the other marker is hit.

The app will then analyze and align the frames to create ten stereoscopic images of what you were videoing at different angles. Then you are ready to don your anaglyph 3D glasses to admire your handy work.

Users can share their creations via email, Facebook and Twitter with one simple click. Unfortunately glasses are not included with the app but are pretty inexpensive. You are aided with step-by-step on screen instruction as you go.

Panorama 4D 1.0 is available worldwide on the App Store for only $1.99/£1.19. iOS 4.2 or later required.

However, things were very much different this year, as there was a huge showing. The Sony 3D Digital and video camera range is not that large at the moment, but during a recent Connected Products Brief that was hosted for Netshelter we got an insight into their vision for 2011 and beyond. So let us review the tech that is available so far.

Sony said that they are the only consumer electronics maker that covers the entire 3D world, from behind the camera to in the home. However, they will need to move at a faster rate this year, as we can only see two 3D digital cameras and one camcorder. These are the Sony HDR-TD10 Full HD video camera and the DSC-WX5 and DSC-TX9 Sony Cyber-shot cameras.

The HDR-TD10 from Sony has been a long time coming, but most of you will agree that the wait has been worth it. How cool will it be to take 3D video recording of something and then be able to play it back on your Sony BRAVIA TV with Full 3D support? What makes this device more versatile is how you can switch from 2D to 3D in an instant. You cannot help think that you are looking at a portable Johnny Five from Short Circuit with those two eyes staring at you. More details can be found on the Sony Style website.

The DSC-WX5 is not what you would say a Full 3D camera, as it only takes Multi Angle images to offer 3D-like effects. However, it is still very effective in how it achieves this. You will still need a 3D TV to see the photos come to life.

The Sony TX9 Digital compact camera also employs that same technology, but this is certainly a higher-end product. We have to wonder how much truth there is in Sony’s claim when they say that this model offers “DSLR-like picture quality”? What we do like with the TX9 is the touchscreen, this does make using the camera much easier, although you do need to keep cleaning that screen. More details.

These are just three 3D camera devices that Sony had to offer, and we hope to see many more in 2011. Do you think that 3D will be as big as consumer electronic makers say it will be?
