If you haven’t heard, it just got real for Bioshock fans across the world. 2K Games has slapped a solid release date on the third game in the series, Bioshock Infinite and we have reasons why you may want to pre-order the PS3 version ahead of PC and Xbox 360.

Irrational Games are the developers behind Bioshock Infinite, and they have announced on the PS Blog the PS3 exclusive features that the game will get, when it launches on October 19th, or October 16th in the US.

If you pick up the PS3 version of the game, 2K Games are bundling a free copy of Bioshock 1 on the PS3 as well on the Blu-Ray, at no extra cost. If that wasn’t good enough for you, they have also confirmed that the PS3 version will benefit from an additional gameplay experience thanks to included support for the PS Move controller.

As far as we can tell, the Bioshock 1 offer appears to be exclusive to the PS3 only, so we imagine a lot of you will now be getting the PS3 version instead of PC or Xbox 360, as who doesn’t like a free game? A few things to point out which we’re yet to clarify – 1) There is no mention on whether Bioshock 1 will come in disc format on the Blu-ray, or if it will be a voucher code to redeem on the store. 2) At the moment, this is only confirmed for US orders with no mention of EU purchases yet – hopefully the deal will apply all over, as that would be fairly upsetting if not.

We also hope that there isn’t a repeat of the infamous Battlefield 3 and BF1943 situation, in which EA tried to backtrack on their offer but ultimately gave in after some major heat from PS3 owners. If you are planning to get Bioshock Infinite – it now has to be the PS3 version you are getting right?

The success of the gothic first person shooter, The Darkness, has made the upcoming sequel to the game, The Darkness II, a fairly hotly anticipated one. While both games share much of the same gameplay, featuring the main character, Jackie Estacado using his supernatural powers along with his tentacle-like arms and his sharp-shooting, the sequel will also feature a new quad-wielding ability. 2K Games has released a new trailer which gives us a glimpse of this ability in action.

The first release news we brought our readers about the sequel suggested an October 4th release, which is today, but it was soon followed up with news that the date had been pushed back until 2012. The only thing fans are able to enjoy today is the trailer courtesy of CVG, which can be viewed below. It shows Jackie’s ability to use his creature-like arms to nibble away at enemies, throw them about and even grab parking meters and car doors and use them as weapons at the same time as he’s firing two guns.

The result of this ability makes for some very gruesome action. Enemies are decapitated, hurled up into the air and split, clean in half or are simply grabbed off the ground and are hit or pounded back into the ground so hard that they explode into a cloud of blood. These tentacles can also rip off individual limbs if the players are feeling sadistic.

If you’re interested in getting this sequel then we’re afraid you’re going to have to wait until February 10th, as this is the expected release date, unless you live in North America in which case the wait isn’t so long as they get it February 7th. Be sure to check out the trailer below for some awesome previews.

Are you a fan of The Darkness? Will you be getting the sequel next year?

We first heard rumors about the possibility of a Borderlands 2 game back in April this year, when the game was spotted on a game developer’s online CV. However, up until recently there had been no confirmation. That all changed last week, as both 2K Games and Gearbox Software officially confirmed that the Borderlands 2 game was indeed in development.

Now we have even more good news for fans of the Borderlands series, as according to Nicholas Davies over at devicemag.com, more game details have now been unveiled courtesy of the latest issue of the Game Informer magazine. Although the developer is keeping some of the elements of the original game, they have made quite a few changes for Borderlands 2.

For example, the original ‘Vault Hunters’ will no longer be playable characters in the Borderlands 2 game, and will now be replaced by four brand new faces. However, the original cast will still be featured in the game as support NPCs. The Borderlands 2 game will also feature a different variety of vehicles, with one of them being a Bandit Technical.

Speaking of vehicles, Gearbox Software wants to make four seating as standard in order to accommodate four-player co-op parties. According to Matthew DeCarlo at techspot.com, one of the brand new characters is a bearded dwarf named Salvador, who has the ability to dual-wield any 2 weapons. Borderlands 2 will also feature a new elemental item called Eridium.

Players will be able to use Eridium to enhance their weapons, which can now have custom decals and enhancements. Each weapon manufacturer will also have its own visual styling / theme to enable players to easily identify the weapon’s manufacturer. This of course means that no two manufacturers will have the same looking guns.

The enemies in the Borderlands 2 game will also be more responsive, and interact with each other a lot better. Players will also discover that bandits will now have their own brand of weaponry in Borderlands 2, and the NPCs will be fully animated and be able to move around their locations, as well as interact with objects within their locations.

Are you looking forward to the Borderlands 2 game?

For those of you who have been watching the rumours regarding a possible Borderlands 2 release sometime in the near future, we can confirm that this latest rumor is true as sources close to certain games websites such as Eurogamer and GameInformer have been told it is in development.

Although no official confirmation has been released by 2k Games or Gearbox Software, we expect that an announcement that confirms the games existence will be revealed soon.

The first news that we heard about Borderlands 2 came in April, when Borderlands 2 was spotted on a game developers online CV. Previously, we also had unofficial confirmation that Randy Pitchford was going to work on a new game. Whether or not this was Borederlands 2 or not, we don’t know. But Pitchford did mention that he intended on re-visting the franchise at some point.

On top of the news, GameInformer have gone all out by featuring Borderlands 2 on their September issue magazine. The feature contains 12 full pages of supposed screenshots and exclusive details from Borderlands 2, with a bunch of improvements that the developers have in store for us when we take our long awaited trip back to Pandora.

The original Borderlands. which debuted on Wndows based machines, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 went on to recieve critical acclaim with all scores in the 80′s (out of 100) or in some cases 4s and 4.5s (out of 5) depending on what review you chose to read. Borderlands also went on to recieve the Xbox 360′s Game of the Year award at RPGLand and also named Runner-up for overall Game of the Year.

So with no official announcement yet from 2k Games, but more of an announcement regarding a future announcement of Borderlands 2, we can take it that the game is all but confirmed. If indeed it does come to fruition, will you be looking forward to Borderlands 2?

Update: Just as we were about to publish this post we heard official confirmation that the game was official!

A couple of months ago we brought you news regarding the release dates for Digital Extremes’ much-anticipated first-person shooter/action game The Darkness II. However, the upcoming game won’t be arriving on October 4th (North America) and October 7th (everywhere else) like we originally stated, as we’ve just heard that the game release has been pushed back until 2012.

According to a recent article by CM Boots-Faubert over on the gamingupdate.com website, the publisher 2K Games has recently announced that The Darkness II game – which is a sequel to 2007’s The Darkness – is now scheduled to be released on February 7th, 2012 in North America and a few days later on February 10th, 2012 for everyone else.

The Darkness II game, which is based on the supernatural comic books created by Top Cow Productions, puts players back in the shoes of protagonist Jackie Estacado. Although The Darkness II has much of the same gameplay as the original, it does come with an interesting new tactic called ‘quad-wielding,’ which enables Jackie to use his darkness powers and firearms at the same time.

Besides announcing the new release dates for The Darkness II, 2K Games also announced that they would be making an appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International. The publisher is holding a special panel for the game to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Darkness, which is entitled ‘Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment.’

The Darkness II discussion will feature top talent from Top Cow Productions, including co-creator of The Darkness and CEO Marc Silvestri and COO and President of Top Cow Productions Matt Hawkins. The panel will also feature developers from Digital Extremes, and the in-game voice (and musician) of The Darkness, Mike Patton.

The Darkness II panel will be taking place on Thursday, July 21st from 12:00pm until 1:00pm in Room 9 of the San Diego Convention Center. The publisher will also have 8 playable demo kiosks at the event, so fans can go and check out the game – which will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows and the Nintendo Wii U – for themselves.

We’ve also embedded the E3 2011 gameplay trailer below this post, just in case you haven’t seen it yet. Will you be picking up The Darkness II game?

A new social networking game Sid Meier Civ World has recently gone live on Facebook for beta testing, the game has been developed by Firaxes Games and it is completely free to play without any invitation needed, so we thought we would have a play on the game to see what it’s like and give it our own mini review.

What we found out very quickly was that our efforts would be cut short because we could not connect to the game servers on multiple attempts (see the image below), this doesn’t seem to be a problem which is affecting everyone, however we think that it is pretty widespread as when we checked out the 2KGames Forums there were lots of reports of people experiencing similar problems to us.

It appears as though the guys over at Mashable have been able play the game, they recently published a review of the game based on the beta. In the review they say that despite the game not being as difficult as its single-player predecessors (Civilization) it is still pretty complex, especially for a Facebook game. In terms of imperfections they said that both the messaging system and event logs could do with some work and also suggested that social elements could be enhanced.

As the game is being beta tested there were bound to be some teething issues, however we doubt that Firaxes Games’ developers expected such a widespread game server issue, perhaps this is because there is a lot more demand for the game than what they had thought, your guess is as good as ours.

From what we can see Civ World has found a niche in the market and could be a huge success, once the game’s reputation picks up there will be a huge fanbase and then developers can start charging for in-game items to help cover development and server costs. Whether you buy purchasable content or not is up to you, however we would imagine that to be a formidable force in the game some of you will be tempted, do you agree?

We wanted to review this game but were unable to so we welcome any of you who managed to get into the game to leave us your feedback in the comments section below, feel free to let us know if you are happy with Civ World’s social elements and also list any of the game’s pros and cons.

Recently we were sent a copy of Duke Nukem Forver to review, we were keen to test it out for ourselves as we were hearing lots of poor reviews from game critics, however we must admit after 2 hours of gameplay we have to agree that the game is lackluster to say the least. Today we will post some of our first impressions, however we will post a more detailed review for our readers to check out at a later date.

As soon as you load up Duke Nukem Forever you are reminded of the franchise’s over-the-top nature, obviously this is not a problem and quite frankly it is nice to load up a first-person shooter which wasn’t trying to be ultra-realistic or too serious, but once you start the game’s campaign you can see why the game is getting slated by critics. Obviously graphics aren’t everything, however it is not just the game’s visuals which dissapointed us early on.

Early on in the game you have to navigate through some corridors while a battle ensues, you see lots of soldiers and enemies, all of which have a white glow around them (see below) this does not help the game in terms of visual. Also we noticed that when the game autosaves it causes a very slight pause in gameplay, this is nitpicking, but something which doesn’t affect a lot of other games. Other things which failed to impress us include the obviously low frame rate, the poor animations which you see throughout when characters are moving and the fact that you smoothly glide when moving around.

Early on in the game you have to battle it out with a Cycloid, this huge boss lacks any intelligence and is easily beaten, we had a little difficulty aiming so whacked the vertical and horizontal sensitivity to max, this helped a little but still we are not overly impressed by the game’s aiming system. Once you beat the Cycloid you learn that Nukem was just playing a video game whilst two women “attended to him”. For a few seconds we hoped that game’s visuals early on in the game were so poor due to the fact that you was in fact playing a game within a game, however this was not the case.

We then played through the game and we found that it was very linear and when you thought your detective skills would come in handy points of interest glow orange to show you the way, we think that it would be better if you had to work things out for yourself. At times we see glimpses of clever development and map design which makes you have to think about you are doing, one example of this happens early on when you need to find and item which is in a locked room, here you must use a remote control car to push the item through a gap in the wall, this was quite fun and mixed up the action for a while.

Now that we have had a few battles on Duke Nukem Forever we have to admit that it is not all bad ,but with game set to regular we have yet to be tested. Until we complete it we will hold our judgement and we will publish a fully detailed review when we do, so keep checking Product-Review.net for the latest news.

It has been over two weeks since E3 2011 ended, therefore people have had a chance to catch up with the long list of titles which showed up at the expo, now 35 publications have submitted their votes and we can reveal the E3 2011 Game Critic Award winners, games which done particularly well include BioShock Infinite, Battlefield 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Let’s start with BioShock Infinite, Irrational Games and 2K Games will be very happy with how well their title fared. Infinite won the honors for the best PC game, best original game, best action/adventure game and it also won the ‘Best of Show’ accolade. Just to note this title is coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and will be PlayStation Move compatible, it should arrive in Q2 2012.

Things are also looking promising for Battlefield 3, this won the best action game and the best online multiplayer awards, this is great news for EA and DICE and seems to suggest that BF3 is on track to be a real competitor to Modern Warfare 3 later this year.

Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim also picked up two awards, one for being the best RPG at the show and another for being the best console game, we were impressed with the game’s screens from E3 2011 and we are excited to hear that it is said to be bigger and better than Oblivion, we wouldn’t be surprised if this also picks up some game of the year awards from critics.

One less well-known game at the expo which done very well was Sound Shapes which is coming to the PlayStation Vita, we must confess that we do not know a lot about this title, however you can see a video showing it off here. Sound Shapes is being developed by Queasy Games and has been voted the show’s best handheld game and the show’s best social/casual game.

We will now run through other games which picked up awards. Best Fighting Game = Street Fighter X Tekken, Best Racing Game = Forza 4, Best Sports Game = FIFA Soccer 12, Best Strategy Game = From Dust, Best Motion Simulation Game = The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and finally Best Downloadable Game = Bastion.

You can see all of the award winners here, also for more detailed information regarding the awards you should check out this link, one interesting statistic was that the 14 Xbox 360 titles won awards (more than any other platform), also the Nintendo Wii showed its age by winning no awards, perhaps it is a good thing that the Wii U was revealed. Finally the PlayStation Vita was regarded as the best new hardware at the show, we doubt that Nintendo will be happy with this.

Do you agree with the award winners?

However, if the ‘Balls of Steel Edition’ didn’t appeal to you in any way, then maybe you will like the recently announced ‘Fully Loaded Package.’ According to Bryce Wilson at ripten.com, the Fully Loaded Package includes a Limited Edition EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Duke Nukem graphics card.

The limited edition graphics card isn’t the only cool thing that gamers will receive either, as it also comes with a custom Duke Nukem ‘Radioactive’ belt buckle, a limited edition Duke Nukem Forever mousepad, The History, Legacy and Legend of Duke Nukem Forever art book and the full game.

As noted in the reipten.com article, the GTX 560 comes with a number of inputs and a Core Clock Speed of 810MHz. Unfortunately we have no word on exactly how much you would have to pay out for the special ‘Fully Loaded Package’ of Duke Nukem Forever.

Do you like the sound of the Duke Nukem Forever Fully Loaded Package?

We have some pretty exciting news now for those of you that are waiting for The Darkness’ much-anticipated sequel The Darkness II to arrive, as we’ve just heard that a brand new trailer and release date has recently been revealed. However, it looks like you still have a fair few months until release.

According to a recent article by Oliver over at el33tonline.com, the quad-wielding first-person shooter is due for release on October 4th in North America, while everywhere else will have to wait until October 7th. The Darkness II will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

As 2K Games mentions, The Darkness II comes with Quad-Wielding gameplay, which enables players to fire two weapons while simultaneously using the two destructive ‘Demon Arms’ to grab, slash and throw objects around. The publisher has also promised dark versus light gameplay.

The upcoming game sees players stepping again into the shoes of Jackie Estacado, who has tried coping with the death of his girlfriend by bottling up his supernatural power. However, an unprovoked and sudden attack on Jackie’s life opens the door for the Darkness to come back out.

You can view the new trailer below this post. Will you be buying The Darkness II in October?
