8GB Apple iPhone at Walmart: $99 4GB needed in recession

We have heard already about a new 4GB iPhone 3G that may sell at Walmart for only $99 and also a second more expensive model for Walmart as well, but this was just rumor. What’s for certain is the 8GB Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 3G at Walmart (NYSE:WMT) with a price tag of $197.

The photo on this page shows that very model (hit the read link below for a bigger photo), these Wal-Mart advertisements and training materials show proof of an 8GB iPhone at the world’s biggest retailer but what about the cheaper model many users were hoping for?

The $197 iPhone will be on sale at Wal-Mart from December 28th and while many sources claim that the 4GB model is not happening we say hold out if you’re after a cheap iPhone. It may not happen but if you’re in the market for a budget iPhone then hold off to the end of January.

With a recession well under way Apple need to launch a cheaper 4GB model to position itself for the new marketplace that will be created thanks to the economic downturn and recession.
