New Palm Treo 800w Sprint smartphone gets Wi-Fi

April 23, 2008 by Peter

It seems that no matter where you go you are always finding out more details about the new Palm Treo 800w Sprint, the latest details on this Palm Treo smartphone is that it will be Wi-Fi enabled. It is now thought that the new Treo 800w Sprint is in its beta stage and the new Windows Mobile-powered smartphone was rumored to be able to have sent an email to a certain amount of people who use Wi-Fi, so if this is true it has given the smartphone a whole new customer base.

We do hope that the WiFi rumor is true as the new Palm 800w Sprint would be the first Treo to have this feature. Treo’s in the past have not embraced Wi-Fi, instead they have preferred to use EV-DO and EDGE which are not as good as Wi-Fi. T-Mobile has never been a fan of the Palm Treo and this is due to the lack of the Wi-Fi feature, which is why they have never wanted to sell the smartphones in the past. Well you never know what the future might hold; we could see the new Palm Treo 800w in T-Mobile stores when the smartphone is launched.

Would you now purchase a Palm Treo just because it has Wi-Fi.

Sprint Social Networking: MySpace Mobile on Web-enabled phones

Sprint is getting more into the Social Networking game by adding MySpace Mobile to their Web-enabled cell phones, while MySpace is not the cleanest of the social networks it is the biggest and I am sure this is why Sprint picked them. This new phone service will give users the ability to get direct access to their MySpace profiles on the move.

Sprint web phones will also include “MySpace Mobile tool set”, this lets users send and receive MySpace messages, post blogs and bulletins, add friends and also edit MySpace profiles…how cool is it to add friends to your MySpace on the move.

Would you use MySpace on your phone?

Sprint release WebCapTel for hard-of-hearing phone callers

March 7, 2008 by Mark

sprint-relay
Big boys Sprint have just released a new service called WebCapTel, pretty catchy that name if you say it over and over again.

Anyway WebCapTel is basically an extension of their existing CapTel which will help hard of hearing callers see what the other person on the other end is saying in real time.

The good thing is there is no need for expensive equipment; in fact you do not need any equipment at all. The new service WebCapTel simply works via any web browser using any phone and it will turn a phone call into text very quickly so that callers will be able to respond there and then using their own natural voice.

Now if you ask me personally, I would have to say this is pretty cool and I love it.

Sprint Nextel sees drop in earnings as subscribers leave

August 6, 2008 by Peter

Sprint Nextel Corp. has reported a decline in earnings in the second quarter, a result from the 901,000 wireless subscribers who have left the company. This news did not take long to have a reaction in Wall Street, as shares of Sprint Nextel Corp. fell by 79 cents.

Shares started on Wednesday at $7.76, as of noon they were at $7.71. Before the market had opened on Wednesday, the wireless carrier had reported revenue of $9.06 billion for the second quarter. This is down 10.9 percent from $10.2 billion in 2007.

Sprint has said that their customers for the second quarter are 51.9 million, that’s down 3.9 percent on last year figure of 54 million.

It seems that Sprints CEO Dan Hesse has taken a positive view on this; he said “We are seeing signs of progress from our efforts to improve the customer experience, rebuild the Sprint brand and increase our profitability.”

It is thought by many that Sprint Nextel subscribers will fall even more in the third quarter of 2008.

Sprint to offer Red HTC Touch Diamond

August 15, 2008 by Peter

We have known for a long time that Sprint is introducing a new version of their HTC Touch Diamond. But what we did not know is there could be a red version on its way.

The image and rumor was posted in the forums of SprintUsers. These could very well be a hoax just to build up some publicity for the new cell phone, but I would rule a red version out as Sprint knows that this could sell well.

There should be a CDMA version of the Touch Diamond coming within the next few weeks.

The HTC Touch Diamond will have a VGA screen and comes with 3 megapixel camera. The handset also comes with 4 GB of storage, GPS and Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro.

The CDMA version of the cell phone will have a more curved casing than that of the GSM version, as well as a larger battery.

BlackBerry Curve 8330 hits Sprint today

May 9, 2008 by Peter

For those of you who are on the Sprint carrier you would have heard many rumors for the release date of the BlackBerry Curve 8330, well we can now tell you that the suggested date for this handset to hit Sprint will be May 9 which is today. You can have one of these BlackBerry’s in your hand for a price of just $179.99 that will be on a contract with rebates; it seems that Sprint wants to reward their customers for purchasing the latest in phone technology.

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 will help you bring your business and personal needs together in one handset, as this is the next generation BlackBerry. The 8330 is the smallest of the BlackBerry handsets which still features a full QWERTY keyboard; the phone has sexy styling thanks to a titanium-finish. Many BlackBerry’s do their job well but I have to say do not look all that nice to look at, this is not the case with the BlackBerry Curve 8330, the handset has that perfect balance of functionality along with usability and design.

This handset allows you to not only make calls, but to also send personal and corporate email as well as GPS Navigation, expandable memory and enhanced web browsing. The Curve 8330 is not all about work though; you sometimes need to chill out, which is where the multimedia side comes in. You are able to enjoy viewing your images as well as checking out your videos and playing your music.
