Telefónica and Philips 1080p 52-inch 3D TV: No Glasses
August 15, 2008 by Mark

Now this is very exciting in my eyes because I love technology, before I get into the news can you say for a fact you like wearing those awkward glasses on your head to watch TV in 3D? Yes that was my answer also “NO”.
Well the good news is that Telefónica will start testing a brand new television; they will test the 3D IPTV service in São Paulo, Brazil sometime later on this year.
The new TV will be viewing the 3D on a 52-inch Philips 3D HDTV in 1080p, the TV will include auto-stereoscopic which basically means that you can watch in 3D without the need for the clumsy 3D glasses.
There are what could be major downsides, one is that only Philips TV can currently display the awesome 3D and the cost is (Are you sitting down) a whopping 18,000 Euros which is around about $26,000 US.
Philips expects that the 3D TV will be good for corporate settings and that is will be around in say 3 to 4 years.

Philips M600 with SRS WOW Sound coming to China: for music lovers
April 28, 2008 by Peter

Over in the UK or the US we do not get to see many new Philips handsets on the market, and one of those reasons is because Philips are now concentrating on the Chinese market. The reason that China loves Philips new range of cell phones is because the Xenium 9@9 long battery life series. However the electronics maker has a new cell in the form of the Philips M600 which features SRS WOW Technology, the company hope that they are able to target music lovers.
SRS WOW as you know features in a host of other products, I have it on my laptop as well as my TV and adds greater sound quality as well as surround sound capabilities without the need for extra speakers. SRS WOW Technology is also meant to restore spatial cues that sometimes get lost while playing music through small speakers. As you can see the new Philips M600 is a much more stylish handset from Philips with its candy bar design. The handset has MP3 quick keys so you are able to access the MP3 player quickly with just one click.
For now it looks as though it is only China who will be getting their hands on the new Philips M600, but maybe later this year other countries will get to have the handset. The Philips M600 comes with a 2-inch TFT screen and has 256k colors, as well as a 1.3 megapixel camera. As the phone is designed for music lovers, there are Classical, Pop, Rock and SRS WOW equalizer settings.
The phone has a music playback time of up to 40 hours on just one charge.

Philips UK BDP7200 Blu-ray player in 7 months: only 1.1 profile, Sony PS3 better
March 21, 2008 by Daniel

Philips new Blu-ray player (the BDP7200) will be coming to the UK in 7 months, sadly this player will only have a Blu-ray 1.1 profile and Philips are not sure if the BDP7200 will have an Ethernet port to update to the BD-Live 2.0 profile.
We are also hearing that the Blu-ray Disc Association should be enforcing all new players to be profile 2.0 compliant around October time…this makes the Philips BDP7200 look a bad choice.
The best choice still for me is the Sony PS3, not only is it for gaming but it will get a firmware update (v2.20) to include BD-Live interactive this month.
Do you feel the Playstation 3 is the best value for money Blu-ray player?
