Google to Chrome will it kill the user love?

The simple word Google and everyone knows what you are talking about, everyone loves to Google-it! But as other technology companies start moving in on the consumer love, is the love for Google fading?

Technology inspires enthusiasm amongst millions of consumers who love the products that companies like Apple, Nintendo and Sony bring into the market. People like something for nothing and that’s why we have been drawn to Google, we have Google Docs, Google Earth and now Chrome. Another draw is privacy between Google and its user, but is it all getting to much?

Google’s Eric Schmidt said earlier this year he wants the user to be able to ask the question “What job shall I take?” or “What shall I do tomorrow?” or and Google will know you so well that it will give you the answer. But is Google turning into a dominant media giant taking on companies like Microsoft and lose its familiar grounding and user love?

Nintendo Wii price drop for more customers

First today we heard about an Xbox 360 price cut and now we hear about Woolworths, a struggling UK high street retailer who has dropped the price of the Nintendo Wii.

Microsoft Xbox 360 price drops to $199 from September 5

If you are looking to purchase Microsoft’s Xbox 360 for Christmas in the United States you are in luck as Microsoft have slashed the price to under $200, this now will make the Xbox 360 $50 cheaper than the Nintendo Wii.

The $199.99 will get you the companies entry entry-level Xbox 360 Arcade from the 5th September, if you want the Xbox 360 Console you will pay $299.99 and if you want the Xbox 360 Elite that will set you back $399.99. So expect lots of pushing and shoving in the shops in America from the 5th September, as Microsoft warn a smash and grab mentality from consumers.

For the UK gamers, there is no new if the UK is going to benefit from the price drop, we will keep you posted as always.

Metallic Silver Nintendo DS arriving in North America Sept 7

For all you Nintendo DS gamers out there in North America, watch out as something is landing on the 7th September, and it’s going to be a shiny silver colour, as you all wait with baited breath as to what the hell I am talking about, I will not hold you in suspense any longer, it is in fact the new Nintendo DS in Metallic Silver.

Nintendo DS seem to have used every colour possible so far, do they really think we spend all the time looking at the outer casing? Well, maybe some gamers do as they have sold a few million and the rest!

This beautiful Metallic Silver DS has actually already been out in Europe and Japan, actually for about a year. We are racking our brains as to why they were never sent to North America? your guess is as good as mine! Logitech Wireless Speed Force racing wheel out soon for the Wii

If you are a serious track star and the Wii Wheel you have been using is the Brando’s Wii Multi-Axis Racing System or maybe something you’re younger brother made for you at school - then watch out as Logitech has unveiled its Speed Force Wireless racing wheel, which is the first force-feedback wheel for Nintendo’s latest console.

Unfortunately to make the wheel work you still have to plug in your USB receiver but apart from that I say thumbs up to one of the Wii’s latest accessories. The Speed Force Wheel was made to work with Need for Speed Undercover game but it will do the job for feedback titles as well.

As this Speed Force wheel comes with Logitech’s 2.4 GHz wireless technology, you can use this wheel 30 feet away from the console, obviously made for those of you with extra large living rooms, once you plug your USB receiver in, put in Need for Speed: Undercover, get yourself in a comfortable position and wait for the race to begin.

If you wondering when this Logitech delight will be out in the shops, we say start searching in November, priced at $99.99 in the U.S. and Europe.

Nintendo sued over two patents on Wii console

Could this be the end of the Nintendo Wii? According to Hillcrest Labs, we could see the Wii’s dramatic success in the U.S being completely shattered.

Hillcreast Labs are a U.S. company who hold a number of patents in the U.S. and also around the world. It’s reported that Nintendo has breached two of the company’s patents, with the family favourite console the Nintendo Wii and the company are looking to be reimburse for the breaches.

There is no report of how much Hillcreast is looking to get back from Nintendo, but it’s not rocket science that it’s going to be a considerable amount of money. Plus the fact it could stop the sales in the U.S. moving forward which could be disastrous.

The statement issued by the Patent company Hillcreast claims that two of its patents which relate to a handheld three-dimensional pointing device, and navigation of an interface display system that graphically organises content for display on a television is being used by Nintendo.

Let’s hope the whole issue is resolved in time for Christmas.

Dead Rising Comparison: Nintendo Wii vs Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii are very different games consoles, and while Microsoft’s games system excels in graphics, the Nintendo Wii wins over most casual gamers.

So having the same game compared on both these systems may seem pointless, but this has been done. Below this post you can see a video comparing Dead Rising on the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 was first to get the game and now you can see how the Wii compares, even if it’s for just the gameplay side of things.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop has received negative opinion from most gamers so far; this is due to the lack of zombies on-screen. We have heard that the developers are working to fix this issue.

No more Xbox 360’s in Japan

Its been known for a while now that the Xbox 360 leads in the United States but trails behind the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii in Japan and Europe, but today things are looking a little different.

There are no more Xbox 360’s left in Japan (well until they get a new delivery). There were rumors that the 360 was sold out in one main store in Japan, but today we are hearing that the whole country has sold out.

Microsoft Japan has actually issued an official statement explaining the situation, and saying sorry for the lack of Xbox 360’s.

The reason they gave for the lack of 360’s was for their “own sales targets being exceeded by the actual customer sales”. They went on to “deeply apologize” to business partners, retailers and of course customers.

Japan will be getting more standard Xbox 360’s first in September, and then Microsoft will ship more Arcade and Elite models.

So with this latest news in hand, does it look like the Xbox 360 is starting to make ground in Japan and will Europe be next?

Gaming Sales Keep Falling: Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii & Sony PS3

The latest NPD Group sales figures have been released this week and they show that all positions of the major consoles remain the same in July as they were in June.

While we will touch on the exact results in a moment, first let’s focus on an interesting trend that seems to be forming. There seems to be a downward trend in sales figures for the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

Looking at the past results, this trend stands out a mile but what does it mean to the gaming industry? Feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments.

The top three places in total software sold are as follows: Third place went to Guitar Hero On Tour (309,700) on the Nintendo DS, second place goes to Wii Fit (369,600), and first place was held by NCAA Football 09 for the 360 at 397,600 units sold.

In hardware sales third place went to the PS3 with 225,000 units sold, then in second we have the Nintendo Wii with 555,000 units, and pole position goes to the Nintendo DS with 608,400.

The gaming industry as a hole saw sales of $1.19 billion which is made up from Accessory sales at $152 million and Software sales of $591.1 million and Hardware sales $446.9 million, if you want to know more about these NPD Group sales figures then go to Efluxmedia.

Beijing Olympics boost Nintendo Wii Fit sales

It has been a few months since we were seeing high sales of the Wii Fit, but since the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics Nintendo has seen a rise in the video games sales. Over the last seven days sales have jumped by 13 percent for the Wii Fit, the game has now occupied the top spot on four different occasions.

Fourteen weeks ago when the game was first launched people were having problem trying to get hold of the motion-sensitive board and game. Many of us wanted to become involved in the new fitness game. Wii Fit helped players improve their balance fitness level and strength.

It is thought that the start of the Olympics in Beijing is a major factor for sales increases of the game. A number of other titles for the Wii have also seen sales increases, these include Big Beach Sports and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

I am now starting to feel a little guilty, as my Balance Board is stuck in the corner collecting dust. I am having trouble finding the time to get myself fit again; I bet there are thousands of other Balance Boards doing the same thing.

Third-Party Game Confusion: Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360

You got to love results of game sales, it seems that market companies and the brands themselves always get confused and can never agree who is right.

Today we see some confusion over third-party games sales and who sells the most. Is it the Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360?

Nintendo made a claim that the Wii sells more third-party games than the Xbox 360, but now we hear that Microsoft claim the Xbox 360 is the real winner.

NPD sales figures have this to show: The Nintendo Wii has sold 33,394,311 third party games compared to the Xbox 360’s 67,929,999 third party game sales. If those results are right, it puts the 360 well ahead of the Wii.

Pensioners say no to bowls but yes to Nintendo Wii

Looks like the pensioners are here to battle it out with the younger generation and fair play to them, pensioners and teenagers love the Nintendo Wii because is mimics real life motion plus it keeps you active.

Well whilst visiting Times Online they have some interesting news that we thought you show read, pensioners are basically saying no to bowls and yes to Nintendo Wii, they talk about Doris who is 91 who loves playing Nintendo Wii games.

In a small town in Tenbury Wells, near Leominster in Herefordshire pensioners attend the Age Concern afternoon in a Scout hut where normally it used to be tea and biscuits, but now they have this gaming console. The pensioners play the games under the watchful eyes of a couple of teenagers (Brave they must be).

So it looks like gaming consoles are not just for the young but indeed for the older generation too, maybe we should all have a teenager versus pensioners gaming contest.

Asus Eee Stick: How Nintendo Wii Remote should look

When I first laid eyes on the Asus Eee Stick I thought it was a couple of new controllers for the Nintendo Wii. Ok so I am a little dumb, but I bet I was not the only one who thought it.

The name that Asus has chosen “Eee Stick” is a strange one as they are a couple of sticks that are mated to a wireless receiver. So what is the Eee Stick I hear you ask, well they are basically a gamepad that has been split in half. This is something that Sony had hoped to launch at some stage.

The Eee Stick has motion sensing technology like the Wii Remote; I bet Nintendo wish that they had designed theirs to look as sleek as these. Asus has said that tailored games that require the Eee Stick will come bundled in the controllers.

As yet there is no idea when the Eee Stick will be released, but Asus reps have hinted that the UK could see them sometime in September.

Asus will make an announcement in the next few weeks.
