Microsoft Surface at Sheraton Hotels & Resorts: Location List

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts and Microsoft Corp. today introduced an entirely new hotel guest experience with its debut of Microsoft Surface, Microsoft’s first commercially available surface computer. Featuring easy-to-use technology and a natural way of accessing information, Surface units will be placed in the lobbies of select Sheraton hotels in Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Microsoft Surface breaks down the traditional barriers between people and technology, providing simple and instant access to information and entertainment. Sheraton will be the first hotel to offer Microsoft Surface, creating a new Sheraton brand experience that will bring interaction, connectivity and a social setting to the lobby, providing guests with an entirely new way to explore local tourist highlights and enhance their hotel stay.

Microsoft Surface is a 30-inch display in a tablelike form factor that several guests can use simultaneously. The intuitive user interface works without a traditional mouse or keyboard, allowing people to interact with content and information in a more natural and familiar way, by using their hands and gestures. Sheraton will unveil Surface today at five hotels: Sheraton Boston Hotel, Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, Sheraton Gateway San Francisco Airport Hotel and Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

With each unit, Sheraton is offering a customized version of the Microsoft Surface developed suite of applications to provide entertainment and information about local attractions. Surface, and these unique applications, are designed to serve the needs of the brand’s core guests who are social individuals seeking to share the travel experience with one another. The placement of the Surface units in Sheraton lobbies enables guests to leverage and experience the offerings in a social way. Three highlighted applications are the following:

CityTips®. At the guests’ fingertips are the Surface 360-degree satellite maps and tools to search for local restaurants and bars, entertainment, recreation, shopping, transportation and services, such as banks and pharmacies. Guests can discover all a city has to offer by simply moving their hands across Surface.

Sounds of Sheraton. Microsoft Surface also serves as a lobby-based digital jukebox, enabling guests to create personal music playlists by choosing selections from Sheraton’s exclusive offering of Sony BMG artists, including John Legend, Kenny Chesney and Lauryn Hill.

Sheraton Snapshots. Guests can explore Sheraton hotels and resorts throughout the world by simply browsing the Surface photo library of Sheraton resorts and hotel properties to help them plan for future business or leisure travel.

“Sheraton is redefining the hospitality experience by offering our guests technology that will allow them to interact with each other and our hotel in a revolutionary way,” said Hoyt H. Harper II, senior vice president for Sheraton. “We are proud to partner with Microsoft to offer the groundbreaking Microsoft Surface product, which will enable our guests to stay informed, connected and entertained while traveling.”

“We’re excited to be working with Sheraton in its efforts to feature innovation and redefine the guest experience in its hotel properties,” said Pete Thompson, general manager, Microsoft Surface. “Surface takes a common activity, such as looking up information about a local city, and transforms it into an intuitive and social way for hotel guests to plan their visit. We believe this is just the beginning of how Surface will completely change the hotel guest experience.”

60GB Xbox 360 Branded Go Pro: on sale at Target

60GB Xbox 360 Go Pro
The new 60GB Xbox 360 that’s branded with Go Pro is expected 4 August, but Penny College say they have seen this new 360 model already in store.

They say that it was seen last Sunday in their local New York City Target store (see the photo on this page). Target seems to always have the inside track on most new games and hardware. This is another example.

Microsoft announced the 60GB Xbox 360 officially at the start of July. The post on Penny College is short and just shows the image as proof, so remember this is just rumor and no official word has been released yet.

The box states that the Xbox 360 comes with Xbox Live Silver-level membership, a network cable, one component AV cable, a headset and one wireless controller.

There is no word yet if the UK will get this 60GB machine. Read more Xbox 360 news.

Is the Scion Hako Coupe concept car good looking or ugly debate?

June 4, 2008

scion_hako_coupe_concept pic 1
There are many hot opinions floating around at the moment about the Scion Hako concept car and must say I am going to squash those who thinks it is ugly, come on people you have got to be on another planet because this car is class. Ok I need not bang on about the Scion Hako concept car because it will never go into production now will it.

Are you one of those people who thinks the Scion Hako concept car is aesthetically appealing or aesthetically a balls-up? In the automobile world we love our car, it is part of our lives and yes we do care about the looks, the design, features, gizmos etc and this one has it all. This car is in a class of its own, and you have to admit you have not seen any other car like this one. This car does not sit on either side of the good looking fence nor the ugly fence, you either love it or hate it and it is as simple as that in my eyes, and my eyes say it is stunning. The Scion Hako concept car was released at the New York Auto Show back in March 2008 and there are two noticeable things that stand out, and that is the design and the in your face color which is bright orange.

I have an idea where this car can become so famous, can you imagine seeing this car in a Disney Pixar movie, like the movie “Cars”. It is also called the Hako Coupe because of its coupe design, by the way. The windows on this car give you a 360 angle view on the car when you are on the inside, well this is what it looks like from the outside, and the Scion Hako’s headlights are in stunning LED which is a big plus for driving at night. LED lights provide great virtually natural light that is better for seeing than the conventional and standard headlights that have an ugly yellow tint to it. The Hako’s headlights seem to be very wide which makes it even better than most standard cars. My judgement on the Scion Hako concept car is that it looks futuristic but yet modern and I would indeed purchase one because I really do like the look of them, plus I would get one just to annoy the hell out of those that hate it.

Check out these pictures below, and below them you can see the full press release.

PRESS RELEASE:
SCION REVEALS HAKO COUPE CONCEPT AT THE 2008 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
NEW YORK, March 19, 2008 — Scion unveiled its Hako Coupe Concept vehicle at a press conference today at the New York International Auto Show. Scion’s Hako Coupe was developed by Tokyo Design Division, which studied global, youth-inspired trends. Japanese and American youth cultures often influence each other and are interpreted with a unique twist. The Hako Coupe Concept was inspired by the iconic xB and the emergence of American vintage style among young Tokyo trendsetters.

“Scion’s Hako Coupe Concept embodies a distinct global perspective on today’s youth,” said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. “This type of forward thinking complements the Scion philosophy of intently listening to our customers and being willing to take risks to help us see where our brand should be. We took the xB’s iconic boxy shape and explored something more vivacious, yet just as emotionally appealing. This concept is the sporty version of a box.”

Tokyo Design developed the Hako Coupe with classic American coupes in mind. The car’s geometric profile conveys a powerful stance in a compact and bold package. Its trapezoidal LED headlights lie parallel with a large and aggressive, rectangular upper grille. The lower rectangular grille anchors the front fascia and continues to communicate the Hako’s aggressive attitude. Round fog lights, symmetrically placed high on the front bumper, have integrated turn signals. The Hako’s silhouette is accentuated by slim, race-car-inspired side mirrors that also feature integrated turn signals. Powerful, flared fenders add dimension and contrast to the concept’s boxy shape and smooth surface planes. The Hako concept hugs the road with custom 18-inch deep dish five-spoke wheels and tires with a
“Scion” custom tread.

The Hako Coupe features a vertical windshield as the concept sits upright and ready to attack the road. A high linear beltline along with a blackened and chopped greenhouse seamlessly wrap around the rear to provide a mysterious profile. As an example of potential personalization, the concept is equipped with a flat, panorama roof that features a random, barcode-like pattern that can be seen on
the exterior and from the interior.

The rear features LED taillights that echo the shape of the headlights. To complete the package, the rear bumper has an integrated fog and back up light on the left and exhaust on the right.

Inside, the Hako is accented with orange and metallic detailing that exudes a modern environment with entertainment possibilities. The front and rear seats are covered with urethane and rubber-like upholstery for easy cleaning. The contemporary front bucket seats flow to the floor and incorporate a geometric design on the seatback. The seats are separated by a center console that features a large
storage crevice for storing magazines, cell phones, and other small items. Two cockpit-like rear seats also share a storage crevice.

The orange driver’s seat has a gaming theme. Instrumentation and warning lights cascade from the art inspired instrument panel to the steering wheel. The shifter, located on the center console, resembles a large joystick. On the steering wheel is a simple button to start the engine and a track-ball type control for the Hako’s entertainment system located on the passenger dash. The entertainment system consists of two video monitor screens mounted on the dash for radio, video, and music capabilities. Users can upload their videos and music through a Bluetooth® connection. The front passenger controls the system using a large rollerball mounted on the center of the dash. A black seat differentiates the front passenger area. Video monitors located on each door and on each side of the rear seating area project distorted fish-eye images from orange filtered cameras mounted

Honda’s Civic GX: natural gas car for $25,000

People are looking for cleaner and cheaper alternatives to cars that run on Gasoline and natural gas happens to be one of them, you would not expect a car like a Honda Civic GX to run on this form of gas, but it does and the car will cost you $25,000. The Honda Civic GX has to be one of the cleanest cats on the road however; the vehicle is only available in New York and California. The primary market for this kind of car is for large fleets who rack up a huge amount of distances in a year, a car like this will help to reduce the fuel cost which could not come at a better time, as we are all feeling the credit crunch as well as the price of Gas going up week on week.

Many people believe that added demand for natural gas will drive up the price of this fuel source, but this will not happen with natural gas. There is an estimated 5 million vehicles worldwide running on natural gas with 150,000 being in the United States and the car that comes out on top of all the others that run on this fuel source is the Honda Civic GX

The 2008 Honda Civic GX costs just under $25,000 and is a four-door family sedan that will take 5-passengers. The car is only available in one trim, and has a the 5-Spd AT which is mounted to its 1.8-liter engine and will produce 113 HP. The Honda Civic GX will achieve 24-mpg in the city and 36-mpg on the highway, although these figures are not that high, you have to remember that it is a cheaper fuel source.

T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced that the company has taken the first commercial step in the rollout of its third-generation (3G) wireless network by launching its UMTS/HSDPA network in New York City. T-Mobile plans to continue the rollout of its 3G network across major metropolitan markets through the year. By year’s end, T-Mobile expects its high-speed data network will be available in those cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services.

“The launch of our 3G network comes at a time when 3G phones and services are more affordable, capable and appealing to our consumer marketplace than ever before,” said Cole Brodman, chief development officer, T-Mobile USA. “We benefit not only from the economic scale of 3G, but also from the extensive commercial experience of 3G in our European markets. Today, T-Mobile USA customers already have among the highest adoption of data and messaging services in the industry. Through our 3G network, we look forward to delivering a rich portfolio of new and meaningful services to enrich our customers’ lives.”

T-Mobile’s 3G network supports voice and data services consistent with available service and handset offerings. The company today offers multiple phones that are able to operate on the UMTS network. The phones are designed to automatically connect to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) to provide the great call quality and rich communication services customers expect from T-Mobile.

Customers using a 3G-capable handset from T-Mobile will also experience faster data speeds when accessing the Web, or downloading content from the T-Mobile t-zones content portal, for example.

In the coming months, T-Mobile plans to offer its first HSDPA device, along with new and compelling data-centric, all-in-one devices that help make the most of T-Mobile’s high-speed data network.

The launch of the 3G network also enables T-Mobile to accommodate and serve more customers more efficiently through the use of its AWS spectrum, effectively doubling T-Mobile USA’s spectrum position, and laying the foundation for the company’s future growth. T-Mobile and the U.S. government, namely the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice, continue to work closely and effectively together to make available AWS spectrum that will give consumers access to the 3G network.

As the 3G service rolls out in targeted major markets, T-Mobile will continue to build upon its
T-Mobile® HotSpot Wi-Fi network - its wireless high-speed Internet offering that launched in 2003 - and its nationwide voice and data network, to empower customers to effortlessly stay connected using the best available network.

Grand Theft Auto IV Review: GTA 4 Strip Club & Chase Gameplay

April 28, 2008
Filed under Game Video & Trailers, Gaming

It is almost four years since Rockstar has released a new GTA game and in that time many have come along and had a try, however; none have come close, this is because Grand Theft Auto taps into the spinal cord of pop culture. So far information has been slow on Grand Theft Auto IV and has only trickled out, however we now have all the information we need to a review of this much anticipated game.

One thing that we know and even more so with the new GTA 4 is that the game is no place for kids, so make sure that they are not around when getting down to the action. In the new game you play Niko Bellic who is an Eastern European and has come to Liberty City for a better life. While watching some of the scenes you will notice that the game could hold its own against many movies, this is thanks to a great script and the superb voice acting.

GTA 4 is a lot like the previous Grand Theft Auto games, driving and shooting however; there is one huge difference with the new game the character now has a social life. So if you need to wind down you can play some darts, pool or maybe some bowling, or you can just go for a drink or better still hang out at a strip club.

These could in fact be full fledged games, but these are just another extra in GTA 4. In the game you have main missions as well as sidelines, and the further you get in the game the more aqaintances you meet; however trying to keep them all happy can be very tough. NiKo even gets his own cell phone so you are able to receive mission updates.

The biggest thing that RockStar has made with the new GTA 4 game is the introduction of a multiplayer option, so you are now able to battle it out online with up to 15 other players. In the multiplayer game you have free boundaries so are able to go anywhere in New York City. But the anchor in keeping you involved in the game is to get ammo and also the game time. You can form teams where you have to complete a set of missions another mode is where teams will be cops and the other team robbers.

The single player mode will take a full working week to complete, but it is the customizable multiplayer that will shock people the most. The old GTA series has always come under criticism as the gameplay has always been an after thought; well that is not the case with Grand Theft Auto 4. The whole driving has now changed, while driving the many different vehicles you will notice that they handle differently and do not try to turn very well while braking as the vehicles just don’t like it. If you do get bored with driving miles to your destination, then why not steal a cab and work while you drive to your next mission. There is so much to do in the new game, you can go to an internet café and check your emails or check out your dates on a dating website. If that is not enough you can go on your cell phone and download new wallpapers or ringtones. RockStar seems to get things just right when choosing the perfect soundtrack and GTA IV is no exception. Grand Theft Auto 4 is the sex drugs and rock ‘n’ roll of video games and is the most refined and polished in the whole of the franchise history. Few games deliver on the hype this one does.

You can see three videos below, one is of the GTA 4 review, the other is the Strip Club Gameplay while the other is the Chase Gameplay.

Nintendo Wii Fit Balance Board and membership to cost $90

It seems like so long ago when we first heard that Nintendo was to introduce the Wii Fit, this balance board was going to be Nintendo’s fitness-gym-in-a-box. In the summer last year the rumor of the price was about $70, however that price was a little on the cheap side, the Nintendo Wii Fit and one-off membership will cost $89.99 and will be released on May 19.

The reason that the Nintendo Wii Fit with Balance Board is more expensive than was first thought is being blamed on the weak dollar. The Wii Fit was launched back in December in Japan and has been a huge hit; the people over in Europe will be getting the balance board on April 25, which is over three weeks before the U.S. will get their hands on this fitness-gym-in-a-box.

However if you do live in the US then the Nintendo World store in New York City has a great little offer, if you put down $5 on a Nintendo Wii Fit any time after April 18 you will receive a free limited-edition T-shirt with a print of Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto as well as a signature. However, you must hurry as this is only limited to the first 1,000. This is the first time that Nintendo have developed something to exercise the body instead of the mind, now your parents can no longer say that playing a games console is bad for your health.
