4th Generation Apple iPod Nano: case spotted

September 3, 2008 by Peter

As we know there are so many rumors about a new version of Apple’s iPod Nano. The 4th Generation iPod Nano has not yet been released but we know it is coming and we have proof.

The proof is thanks to Engadget Spanish, it seems that while out shopping they come across a case for the new gadget. The case is taller than the older case, so it does look as if the taller iPod Nano will be coming in the next few days.

The case has been made by Hama; it says on the package that the Sport Case is specifically for the Apple iPod Nano 4G. So what other proof do we need? Check our more images here.

Cowon’s S9 Curve player set to amaze next month

In life there are certain things you just can’t seem to get your hands on, so close but yet so far, the Cowon’s S9 curve is just one of those things. The only people worthy of touching the S9 Curve at the IFA were the business partners of Cowon.

Even press on bended knee didn’t stand a chance to take a closer look at the S9 Curve, but we did get hold of the specifications for you. Germany is the first in line to get hold of the S9 Curve at the end of October, so looking closely at the spec, we have a 480 x 272-pixel, 16 million color, capacitive touchscreen which is 3.3 inches in size, the actual size of the player is 57.08 x 105.75 x 12.7-mm, so putting in perspective its slightly narrower than the 8mm think iPod touch which has a 4.3-inch display. The launch we will see the 8GB and 16GB of storage models, but a 32GB is on the cards in the not so distant future.

If you look at battery life then a 3.5-hour off the mains which is equivalent to 5.5-hours charge of the USB will give you 8 hours of video, or 40 hours of audio.

Apple looks set to announce new music related products at exclusive party

September 3, 2008 by Nikki

Apple has caused a stir, by sending out press invites for a scheduled event that is set to take place on the 9th September in San Francisco. With the empathises on the party devoted to music, we see this as a massive hint that they are going to be announcing lots of changes to the iPod family or maybe new products.

Even the event invitation isn’t much of a giveaway it just shows the usual iPod type design of a silhouette of a dancing man with the usual iPod, and the title on the invite reads “Let’s Rock.”

We have also heard that Apple are working with music industry partners and developing “interactive albums” these will work with the iPhone and iPod touch that will provide lyrics, photographs, liner notes and other exciting material to complement the music.

New iPod touch, it could it be a hoax

September 2, 2008 by Nikki

So we are wondering if our information spies have found out some hot news, or if it could merely be a Photoshop re-touch or us going completely mad? We are talking about the launch of a possible new iPod touch.

After seeing the Best Buy advert that showed a image of a iPod touch that looked slightly different to the one which is out now, normally we probably would not have mentioned this as it could just be a dodgy photograph, but with the news that the new iPod nano is coming out around the 9th of September, and all the rumours that are flying around saying that there is going to be a new iPod touch coming out it just makes us feel ablidged to let you know too.

Well I am sure we will find out soon, and with Christmas just a few months away, I’m sure it will be out sooner rather than later, we can feel it in our bones.

Harman/Kardon MS 100 all-in one iPod dock

Harman/Kardon has decided to show off their new MS 100 All-in-One Audio Entertainment System. My first look shows that there is nothing special about the system, although the aesthetics are stunning.

The Harman/Kardon MS 100 was on show at IFA 2008, and it was the iPod dock, CD player, FM tuner and clock/radio functionality that got peoples attention. I have to say that after looking more in to the system I think I have fallen in love.

There is no denying that when it comes to sound reproduction, Harman/Kardon is right up there with Bose, so I do hope that the sound quality from this all-in-one system is something special.

Apple launching album app for iPhone and iPod touch

It looks like Apple is about to launch a new album app for the iPhone and iPod touch, this comes thanks to a collaboration with Snow Patrol.

Apple plan on making this interactive album application downloadable via the App Store, fans who download the app will get extra content like lyrics, pictures, and artwork.

This is apparently the first time any application has been made in this way; the new album application will give users a more interactive look at videos and content. We can see more music artists following this example with their own interactive digital booklets for the iPod and iPhone.

iPhone PwnageTool 2.0.3 jailbreak software available

Filed under Cell Phone Information, Cell Phones

The new version of PwnageTool is now available; 2.0.3 jailbreak software for the iPhone supports the new version of iPhone and iPod firmware 2.0.2 5C1. The latest jailbreak software updates the installer.app to Beta 6; this update also includes localization for Germany.

DevTeam have been hard at work, not only have they launched the new PwnageTool 2.0.3, but also the ‘150’ beta update to the Windows QuickPwn application. This update improves the user interface as well as fixing a number of bugs for YouTube.

There is also support for BootNeuter, so that you can unlock 2G iPhones. DevTeam have issued a warning that the new PwnageTool 2.0.3 must only be downloaded as a .tbz file from their servers. They should not decompress it by using The Unarchiver application.

DevTeam advise that you should use the standard OS X Archive Utilityin in order to decompress the download; this should avoid breaking permissions within PwnageTool.

What new products will Apple introduce on September 9?

August 26, 2008 by Peter

A number of sources across the Internet are buzzing about the new range that Apple will introduce come September 9. Kevin Rose from Digg has gotten in on the action. Rose is speculating what he thinks the new products will be.

The first product that Rose believes that Apple will introduce is a revamped iPod Nano. He also assumes that Apple will tweak their iPod Touch as well as launching iTunes 8.0.

Many iTunes users are hoping that the new version will offer a number of price cuts. As usual this is all speculation as Apple’s Steve Jobs keeps things close to his chest.

What else do you think that Apple has in store for us on September 9; my money is on some tweaks to the Mac as well as the iPod. What they will do with these products I do not know.

New Kindle e-book reader could match iPod sales

August 26, 2008 by Nikki
Filed under Audio & Video Gadgets, Gadgets

The kindle e-book reader which is aimed at students from Amazon, it going to unveil a larger screen model, as well as an upgrade on the base model, which we could see in September, the source said that the new model will have a lot better screen and be much thinner, as well as an improved interface which before a lot of users found annoying, one insider said that the jump in quality of the new version is similar to that of the leap between the first iPod mini and the new latest version.

Jeff Bezos the CEO of Amazon has talked very highly of the Kindle and it seems soon we will be able to see if the Kindle does live up to all the hype, the original device which went on sale just over a year ago is said to have sold 280,000 units, this was just a ballpark figure releases from Techcrunch report. Any new venture which has put in $100 million or so in revenue a year is not to be ignored, figures based on the Kindle selling for $399 although its dropped to $359 not so long ago.

We have never seen a Kindle in fact heard of anyone owning one, although a report from Citicorp analyst Mark Mahaney suggests that the Kindle could match the first year sales of the iPod. The one amazing thing with the Kindle is that ability to download any book and some newspapers and subscription within seconds wirelessly when for Amazon, it’s also said that Amazon will lower the price to $299 or in some reports as low as $249.

3D hologram App available for iPhone and iPod touch

August 25, 2008 by Nikki
Filed under Apple News, News, iPhone News

A new application is out for all iPod touch and iPhone owners designed by David O’reilly which gives the look of a 3D hologram is jumping out of your screen.

It looks like you are constantly viewing the screen at a viewing angle of 35-45 degrees, almost like it is sitting on the table, it uses the same kind of technique that was used in Hans Holbein’s painting The Ambassadors, so the 3D scenes perspective is warped using anamorphosis.

The software rotates on the y-axis and uses the iPods built-in gyroscope as if we are acting looking around the scene on the screen. You can also move the scene manually with a slider that you will find on the left hand side of the screen. This is all very exciting stuff as the potential is massive within the gaming industry; O’Reilly is currently looking for developers to take this project further.

Today Sony has unveiled its new wireless multi-room music system that’s designed for use with iPod Touch and other compatible iPod players. The new system is called S-AIRPLAY (AIR-SA20PK) and it uses S-Air technology.

Sony’s S-AIRPLAY also has dual source, multi-zone capability that will allow your dock to transmit separate signals to each AIR-SA15R receiver/speaker. This means you could have an AM/FM radio station playing in the kitchen, while your iPod music players on another speaker in the living room.

Boston Acoustics Horizon i-DS2 iPod speaker system

This is the Boston Acoustics Horizon i-DS2 iPod speaker system, and its feature set is solid. The i-DS2 iPod will have no problems filling your room with clean and powerful bass thanks to the high performance full-range speakers.

The main features include: USB connector for iPod communication with iTunes, a composite video output for video-capable iPods, an auxiliary input for connecting additional media players, the remote control will put basic iPod functions at your fingertips and the 15 watts RMS/30 watts Dynamic Output Power per channel will please most music lovers.

Boston Acoustics Horizon i-DS2 will control and charge all dockable iPod models, and that’s more than we can say about the Bose docking station we have that fails to support the iPhone 3G.

The only problem we see with the Horizon i-DS2 is the price tag, $179.99 is not the cheapest for this kind of setup. What do you look for in an iPod docking solution?
