Two years ago you may have heard that Heathrow Airport planned to roll out driver-less pod taxis, at the time the idea seemed a bit far fetched and it sounded more like something out of a science fiction movie. However Heathrow Airport are now rolling out these driverless pod taxis.
These new pods are called the ULTra Personal Pod cars, and they can transport four passengers and their luggage at a time. They run on their own road network and are capable of speeds up to 25mph. They are powered by batteries which means they are more environmentally friendly than the current coaches Heathrow use Read more
Apple iPhone TV advert banned
August 27, 2008
Filed under Apple News, News, iPhone News

The UK’s advertising watchdog have banned a TV advert for Apple’s iPhone saying that they have over-hyped the internet capabilities of the smart phone and mislead consumers.
The Advert that showed the iPhone looking through the internet, with images zooming in and out, in one shot it shows a weather forecast for Cape Town then a map how to get to Heathrow airport, the stylish transition looking truly amazing and a iPhone voiceover on the advert saying “You never know which part of the internet you’ll need … which is why all the parts of the internet are on the iPhone,”
There were only two complaints received by the Advertising standards Authority both claiming that the advert was misleading as the iPhone does not support Java or Flash, which are both vital for many web pages to be viewed correctly.
The iPhone can offer access to all internet websites; the advert was to highlight how other handsets that offer lower-level access to WAP cannot match the iPhone at present. Apple reported.
Apple said that the web browser the iPhone uses, Safari, was built to open internet standards. Flash and Java technology were not open source, said Apple, adding that it could not ensure compatibility with “every third-party technology in the marketplace”.
The U.S. computer giant said that none of the content in the ad was Java or Flash-based and that the line “all parts of the internet” meant website availability, “not every aspect of functionality”.
Clearcast, the advertising pre-vetting service said they had given the go-ahead for the advert after demonstration and the advertiser’s assurances.
Although the ASA said that claims made by Apple implied that “users would be able to access all websites and see them in their entirety”.
It was concluded by the ASA that “the ad gave a misleading impression of the internet capabilities of the iPhone” and that the advert had not explained the limitations of the iPhone.
The TV advert must not be broadcast again in the same form the ASA ordered.

Playstation 3 Owner Asks: What should I do with my Xbox 360?
July 9, 2008
Filed under Gaming, Sony Playstation 3, Xbox 360

One of the authors on PS3 Daily who obviously owns a Playstation 3 has asked an interesting question about the Xbox 360.
They owned an Xbox 360 before the PS3, now it sits collecting dust so they have a few ideas what to do with it but want your help deciding.
They said “The 360 was good and the online gaming was awesome but things started to go from bad to worse, the fans within were so loud I thought I was at Heathrow Airport, so I went and bought a fan cooler, yep you got it; nothing happened.
I then got the crap red ring of death (RROD), now not one to bore all you PS3 fans with the 360 problems I spoke to my cousins and of course many friends, they all said the same go and get a PS3”.
Have a read of the article on PS3 Daily and let them know what you think should happen to their Xbox 360, remember this is not playing one console against another its just an interesting position they are in.

A man with a rucksack has run into the path of an aircraft at Heathrow Airport - sparking a major security alert. He jumped the perimeter fence shortly after 2pm and was tackled by armed officers on the northern runway. “Flights will obviously be disrupted due to the closure of the runway.
Police will now want to question the man, and the first question will be what he was doing there. However the question I would like to know is “how did he breach security.” This is now the second time in only a few weeks that people have managed to breach Heathrow Airport security.
