Google to Chrome will it kill the user love?

The simple word Google and everyone knows what you are talking about, everyone loves to Google-it! But as other technology companies start moving in on the consumer love, is the love for Google fading?

Technology inspires enthusiasm amongst millions of consumers who love the products that companies like Apple, Nintendo and Sony bring into the market. People like something for nothing and that’s why we have been drawn to Google, we have Google Docs, Google Earth and now Chrome. Another draw is privacy between Google and its user, but is it all getting to much?

Google’s Eric Schmidt said earlier this year he wants the user to be able to ask the question “What job shall I take?” or “What shall I do tomorrow?” or and Google will know you so well that it will give you the answer. But is Google turning into a dominant media giant taking on companies like Microsoft and lose its familiar grounding and user love?

Samsung Acquisition talks with SanDisk

Samsung Electronics Co. were looking at a number of ways of tying up with SanDisk Corp. The electronics giant is even considering a possible acquisition of SanDisk, the world’s largest flash-memory card maker.

Analysts have said that if Samsung push this acquisition, it could help Samsung reduce the amount of royalties that they have to pay out to SanDisk. The acquisition could also allow Korean electronics giant to have a much tighter control over the memory market.

SanDisk currently get most of their chips from a joint venture that it has with Toshiba Corp., although Samsung are one of their suppliers. At this moment, the global memory-chip market seems to be suffering from an oversupply, a result of the global economy.

It was bound to happen, security researchers have been testing Google Chrome web browser and they have found vulnerabilities. It seems that they have now exposed a number of security issues with the beta browser.

One such vulnerability is how a hacker might be able to crash the browser. Rishi Narang was one of the security researcher has described the issue on the SecuriTeam Web site. He has posted the proof of his findings on another site, Evilfingers.

Narang explains that a hacker might be able to build a malicious link that includes an undefined handler, which is then followed by a certain character. When a user then goes to click on the link, Google Chrome will crash.

Apple has caused a stir, by sending out press invites for a scheduled event that is set to take place on the 9th September in San Francisco. With the empathises on the party devoted to music, we see this as a massive hint that they are going to be announcing lots of changes to the iPod family or maybe new products.

Even the event invitation isn’t much of a giveaway it just shows the usual iPod type design of a silhouette of a dancing man with the usual iPod, and the title on the invite reads “Let’s Rock.”

We have also heard that Apple are working with music industry partners and developing “interactive albums” these will work with the iPhone and iPod touch that will provide lyrics, photographs, liner notes and other exciting material to complement the music.

Now that the dust has settled on Google Chrome, the new web browser from the search engine giant, it is time for the Acid3 test. Well the results are very good, as it looks as though Google Chrome is much more stable than Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7.

For those who do not know what the Acid test is, Cnet explains that the process test how well a browsers complies with web standards. All three of the browsers passed the Acid2 test; it is chrome that has managed to pass 78 out of 100 on the Acid3.

Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3 only managed to lock out 14 and 71 respectively. However Google Chrome does not top the Acid3 test list that goes to Opera, that browser locked out on 83.

Google Chrome Review: first impressions not good

Well I have been waiting since yesterday to get my hands on Google Chrome, the search engine giant’s open source web browser. So I downloaded it from Google and then installed the software, and then decided to give Chrome a go. My first impressions are not that good.

So I then opened Google Chrome up and had a little play, and that was when I noticed the first of my problems. Firstly I could not find a button or logo to go back to my homepage, on further investigation it seems that you need to have your toolbar on for the Homepage button to appear.

Then there is the problem with my bookmarks which I imported from Firefox, for some reason I could not get them to show up. No matter what I tried I just could not find my bookmarks.

So what are your first impressions of Google Chrome?

Google Chrome web browser download now available

Well we have been waiting all day and now it is finally here, the download for Goggle Chrome, the new web browser from the search engine giant. Google Chrome is a web browser with a difference; it combines a minimal design while using sophisticated technology to help make it safer, easier and faster.

Google know what users want in a browser, which is why they have launched a beta version of a new open-source browser: Google Chrome. The world will now see what kind of a job Google can do in the web browser industry.

Although Chrome is open source, Microsoft must still be feeling the pressure. Google Chrome will have to prove itself against Firefox; this is the standard that most web browsers need to live up too.

The new Google Chrome web browser is set to be a new JavaScript virtual machine. Chrome will run on a process called tabbed sessions, each with a separate process. If there is a crash process, then the rest of the browser will not need to shut down. Will Google be able to take on the might of Microsoft and Mozilla?

It is a big week for Electronic Arts, as their new game Spore is released. The video game is one of the most talked about titles of the year, and the game developer are hoping that Spore will be better than good.

EA have now been losing money for six quarters now, the main problem was caused by their longtime strategy of turning out sequels for their Madden football game. Spore is now vital to the future of Electronic Arts.

It is a big gamble, one that EA are unsure of. Although Spore does promise a lot, you have to remember that is more than a year late, and gamers are not happy about that. We will just have to see what the future waits for Electronic Arts.

Is Google Chrome Web Browser the real deal?

September 1, 2008 by Peter

There have been a number of rumors circulating the Internet about Google Chrome Web Browser. There was an article on Google Blogoscoped, wondering if this web browser was in fact the real deal or just one of those rumors that get out of hand.

Philipp Lenssen, the man who wrote the article said that until he sees something like a beta release, then he will remain optimistic on Chrome. He did say that if it were true, then Google Chrome would be a logical extension of Google’s web based services.

It does make you wonder what has taken Google so long to come up with their own web browser, what they have done to their search engine shows that they can put their minds to anything. So is Google Chrome the real deal, or just another rumor?

T-Mobile G1 Dream first ever Android handset from HTC

August 27, 2008 by Nikki

We have heard some rumours’ that the guys over at T-Mobile will be the first carrier to offer an Android handset, sketches of the device have been leaked and posted onto the internet. there not that clear but we have posted them for you anyway.

It seems this phone is causing a stir for Android fans and industry watchers, who probably know this device better as the HTC Dream, whilst AndroidGuys are calling it the G1. It seems that this phone was also spotted on the US FCC site recently, of course this all adding to the rumour of the device.

It was reported that this handset was created for Google by HTC who are founding members of the Open Handset Alliance to demonstrate the Android mobile operating system.

So the HTC Dream or 3G G1 depending on what you believe to be the correct name is said to offer a trackball, a QWERTY keyboard and for some extra branding it also has “With Google” on the back of the device, how sweet.

HTC plan to launch an Android handset before the end of the year, although no more information has officially been released by the company, HTC confirmed this information to pocket-lint.

A sole email device by Peek, will it be a success?

August 21, 2008 by Nikki
Filed under Email / IM, News

With most mobile phones having an email function, do you think there is a need for a cheap email gadget that basically just emails? Well we should find out soon as Peek the company behind the email gadget is coming on September 14 to Target stores, although they say it will be available earlier on the web.

Peek (who were formally known as Txtbl) have posted some updates lately and also posted a photo of the gadget, which we have uploaded for you, they also have said that it is going to cost $99.95.

Ok, so we have a email gadget that sends and collects emails, it looks pretty smart in several colour’s, aqua, cherry and grey, slim form, has a full QWERTY keyboard and it worked over the T-Mobile network for $19.95 a month, and it’s said that there is no long-term contract, no mail rebate, no digital camera, no App Store, no MP3 Player, no SMS, no Web browser, no mobile TV just plain and simple email, oh although it does include Yahoo mail, Google Mail, AOL and the like.

Time will tell if Peeks email gadget will be a success, it’s hard to think with all the multi-use gadgets around that someone would want to possibly carry to devices instead of one, ok, it is slightly cheaper but adding the T-Mobile service on top it’s not that cheap, there have been a few one function successes the flip video camera has been one. But with such stiff competition for Peek we can only wish them luck.

Wallet phone coming from Japan

Today we are hearing that a government official of Japan has said that they will aggressively push their mobile technology abroad, and this will include Japan’s popular wallet phone.

Japan has been known for many years to be at the forefront of technology, and their digital TV broadcasts, high-speed Internet connections, and electronics are some of the most sophisticated in the world.

They may have some of the latest technology around, but Japan has failed to make its mobile handsets, mobile services and wireless technology hits around the world.

There is a new initiative led by the Japanese government, including manufacturers and wireless carriers that will help Japan market their wireless technology to the world.

The flagship product will be their wallet phone; these devices have a FeliCa chip in each cellphone that will then communicate with a reader-device at vending machines, train stations and shops for payments via phones.

Would you use the Wallet phone for your cashless shopping?
