Following the promise of an extra $2 billion for the Cash for Clunkers program, it now seems that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has the votes to allow the budget increase. This extra $2 billion will allow approximately half a million more Americans to use the Cash for Clunkers program.
It is thought that many Republicans apposed the plan for a budget increase; however Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell believed his party “would not block a vote”, and stated “The matter will be completed.” Read more

According to John Fryar at TimesCall, it seems that the Cash for Clunkers program that the Federal Government launched last Friday has been received really well by the Public in Longmont Colorado, and the computer system that the car dealers have to use to file for certification for the program has crashed multiple times already due to high demand. Under the Cash for Clunkers program, people with older SUV’s, Cars and Trucks will be eligible for credit towards a newer more fuel efficient vehicle of up to $4,500 off the price. Read more

It is being reported that General Motors has filed documents in court against New Chrysler; GM hopes that they will force Chrysler into honoring its full pre-bankruptcy debt of $531,275. As yet the company has only agreed to pay back a third for work that was done on the Two-Mode hybrid powertrain. Read more

Fiat and Chrysler: Supreme Court will allow sale

The deal with Chrysler and Fiat is on again after the U.S. Supreme Court has said that it will allow the sale to go ahead. This means that Chrysler LLC will be able to sell its assets to a group being led by Italian carmaker, Fiat. The deal was put on hold due to the Indiana pension funds and consumer advocates tried to block the sale of Chrysler assets, but U.S. Supreme Court refused to grant a stay. Read more

More news on the Chrysler dealerships closing now. Earlier on, we told you about big savings to be made on Chrysler autos as seen in the video here. Well, it has now been brought to our attention that 800 national Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealerships have no option but to sell their inventory of new cars by June 6th of this year.
While this is surely bad news for the company, it is great news for those of you who want to splash the cash on a new family auto. As reported from Examiner, rebates are ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 depending on the model, while there are also further discounts on top for selected models.
According to Examiner, there is a Kemp Thorn dealership in Canton Ohio who are offering up to a staggering $10,000 in discounts on Dodge pick-up trucks.
