Samsung X360 could it beat Apple’s MacBook Air?

As fashion models try to squeeze down to a size zero, the computer giants are also joining in the craze, Samsung have announced their new ultra-thin laptop and hopes to push Apple and HP off the top slot of the world thinnest laptops.
It seems everyone is at it, slimming down was hot news with the television manufacturers as well. But Samsung stole the limelight by unveiling the X360 it the IFA in Berlin, the X360 is not to be mistaken for the Lenovo’s X300 range. Not only does this mean machine look and feel fantastic, the X360 is reported to have 3 USB ports, a 34mm express card slot, a built-in HDMI connection and VGA output.
If we take a look inside the X360 we find an Intel Centrino 2 processor, 128GB Solid State Drive (SSD), Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, 02.11a/b/g/n wireless connectivity and a integrated 1.3 megapixel camera, not forgetting the Ethernet socket and 7-in-1 memory card reader.

Nokia has recently announced that they will be releasing their two new Nseries smartphones. One being the N79 and the other will be the N85. The release date is due to be tomorrow.
The N79 is said to be replacing the older version N78. The camera on this phone has been updated from 3.2 mega pixels to an improved 5.0. It uses a dual-LED flash. It is designed as a fashion phone that will have changeable back covers, so the owner can have to their taste. It is in a candy bar style and comes with full 3G, WiFi and GPS features. The 4GB microSD card lets you store more than the previous model. And for someone like me, who likes their music, that is a good thing.
Nokia’s N85 is the better model and is replacing the N81. This camera has also been upgraded to five mega pixels, and includes GPS. It also has an AMOLED 2.6 inch screen, which should provide a better color. It can run about 28 hours of music from just one charge.
This N85, like the previous N81 is thought to be an N-Gage friendly phone. It has an 8GB microSDHC card and also gives the owners an option of upgrading to an impressive 16GB or more later on if wanted. They can access the internet through the WiFi or HSDPA-based 3G, although we’re not aware if it has international support yet.

A sole email device by Peek, will it be a success?
August 21, 2008 by Nikki
Filed under Email / IM, News

With most mobile phones having an email function, do you think there is a need for a cheap email gadget that basically just emails? Well we should find out soon as Peek the company behind the email gadget is coming on September 14 to Target stores, although they say it will be available earlier on the web.
Peek (who were formally known as Txtbl) have posted some updates lately and also posted a photo of the gadget, which we have uploaded for you, they also have said that it is going to cost $99.95.
Ok, so we have a email gadget that sends and collects emails, it looks pretty smart in several colour’s, aqua, cherry and grey, slim form, has a full QWERTY keyboard and it worked over the T-Mobile network for $19.95 a month, and it’s said that there is no long-term contract, no mail rebate, no digital camera, no App Store, no MP3 Player, no SMS, no Web browser, no mobile TV just plain and simple email, oh although it does include Yahoo mail, Google Mail, AOL and the like.
Time will tell if Peeks email gadget will be a success, it’s hard to think with all the multi-use gadgets around that someone would want to possibly carry to devices instead of one, ok, it is slightly cheaper but adding the T-Mobile service on top it’s not that cheap, there have been a few one function successes the flip video camera has been one. But with such stiff competition for Peek we can only wish them luck.

Photosynth: turn you photos into a 3D wonderland

There is no denying that technology is moving faster than ever, it wasn’t that long ago we could only get a snap shot of an image, then came video, digital images and of course photo manipulation software, but nothing quite like this, Photosynth is a new service available from photosynth.com that will certainly change the way anyone see’s and shares there photos.
How do you fancy reliving a vacation or maybe going back and looking at that landmark or historical place you visited? And how about doing it all in a three-dimensional, 360-degree experience? So here is how it works, you take a regular shots from your digital camera, upload them to Synth, take your imagination, creativity and Synth will do the rest creating an entirely new visual medium. If anyone sees your synth you have basically given them your shoes, let them share your experience, this kind of image is impossible to achieve in conventional photo’s or video, the clarity, scope and detail is second to none.
Photosynth anaylzes each photo for similarities to the others, then it amazingly uses this data to build a model of where the photos were taken. It will then create a canvas for you to display your photo by re-creating the environment. It’s like just walking into a 3D dimensional photo or video game of your own experiences.

Filed under Cell & Mobile Phones, Handsets

Traveling salesmen and business people love the RIM BlackBerry, but now Apple has made their iPhone 3G more loved by the business world, RIM need something new.
Titled the “iPhone 3G Killer”, the new BlackBerry Bold is a smartphone that can be the only phone for some users. They would not entertain any iPhone. The new BlackBerry Bold will aim at more than just a business user, it has been designed for ordinary people, and is Research In Motion’s most ambitious attempt yet.
The BlackBerry Bold has all the trademarks of previous devices, but this phone is also the best entertainment device BlackBerry has ever produced. They have raised their game in response to Apple’s iPhone 3G.
The Telegraph has taken a look at the features of both phones, they have compared Camera and GPS, Email, Look and usability, Web browsing and Multimedia. You can read their full review via the read link below this post.
In summery, they found iPhone 3G better for the consumer thanks to superb multimedia capabilities, but if future firmware updates give Apple’s iPhone the ability to edit documents on the go, it could become the business choice as well.
The BlackBerry Bold looks better than any of its predecessors, and it does more than the iPhone, although its design is still suited to the business user and not the consumer.
