Sir Tim Berners-Lee, set to launch World Wide Web Foundation

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the man who built the world’s first web site in 1991, said the World Wide Web must be controlled to prevent malicious conspiracy theories and rumours spreading and being passed off as factual information, this is why he is launching the World Wide Web Foundation.
Sir Tim said he is becoming very concerned how easily the “thinking of cults” can be accepted by mainstream internet users and spread across the world as truths. People have believed that the Large Hadron Collider could end the world and the MMR vaccine could give children autism, through the harmful online campaigns.
Sir Tim, who is preparing to launch a foundation aimed at upholding the Web’s founding principles; he said that system rating sites’ trustworthiness was urgently needed.
The World Wide Web foundation will offer kite mark-style branding to websites it thinks are a reliable source of information, he also added that this would not threaten freedom of speech and it will advance a web which is open and free. Basically it’s going to be a way to separate fact from fiction.

The First Autism Awareness Day: did you take part?

Today is Autism Awareness Day and the idea of this day is that it makes people aware of what Autism is and how it affects people in their everyday life. My son is 4 and is autistic and I have come across so many people who do not know about Autism so I think that this day is a great idea.
So many children and even adults are diagnosed with Autism every day across the world and without the understanding from others, things like social skills and even the educational side can be affected.
There are so many different types of Autism and sometimes it is hard to diagnose. Some children with mild autism grow up and are able to live on their own, but others with more serious problems will always need some kind of help that’s where this day becomes important.
Do you know anyone who has Autism?

Jenny McCarthy: Diet Can Ease Autism
March 6, 2008

It has been reported that Jenny McCarthy has called on the U.S. medical community to recognise that diet and vitamins can help ease the symptoms of autism.
Jenny whose five-year-old son Evan suffers from the disorder travels around America giving talks about the alleged benefits of natural medicines.
But it’s said that she wishes doctors would acknowledge how diets and vitamins can be used to treat autism.
Jenny said that “I’ve been speaking to moms across the country who are all shouting out the same thing: ‘this (diet and supplement intake) is working.’ “It’s so heartbreaking to see the medical community not support something called diet and vitamins. And it pains us, city after city after city. I see this heartbreak on these mom’s faces. Autism isn’t covered by (medical) insurance. If things like diets and supplements are working, then why not support it? These kids are getting better and I will not shut up and will not stop fighting about it”
My son who is four has Autism and anything that could help him I would be willing to try.
There are so many times of Autism out there I guess the doctors just want to make sure that it would help every type from slight Autism to full blown Autism.
