I was given this frame and am happy with the hardware. The picture is sharp and bright, it has several inputs, it comes with a remote as well as menu navigation buttons on the side of the frame, and it has a removable wall mounting bracket. However, the firmware (internal software) leaves a lot to be desired. There is no timer to make it turn on and off at certain times of the day–either you turn it on and off manually or add an external timer. It automatically plays a slideshow of photos in the root folder of your memory card, but you can only store 256 files in the root. Saving photos to a subfolder fixes that, but you have to manually select the folder each time you turn the frame on. It has 1GB of internal memory which is nice, but if you want to transfer photos from a memory card or USB stick you have to do it one photo at a time through a slow, non-intuitive process. It displays the pictures from my camera, but if I edit them on my PC, they often do not display. Some pictures cause it to lock up, others display darkly, some have a wide horizontal band with corrupted colors, etc. I have tried saving the JPG files from several different programs with different options but none have fixed the problem. It also seems to have a problem with photos saved at 1024×768 resolution (the native resolution of the frame). This should be the best resolution to use…the photos do not have to be resized to be displayed, they take the least possible space, and load the fastest–they just don’t display. I tried to contact Piximodo’s support but they never responded.
