Do not purchase from this company, tech support is a joke and they do not stand behind their product.

Don’t buy from this company they will rip you off. Was at the pga show in orlando two years ago and got a unit they said was a demo unit to loan for demo purposes. Have a small retail store and thought it would be a new gps to loan foe demo to sell as an alternative to the sky caddie. Needless to say when i got it home it had only west coast courses on it so i they it in the drawer and about two months ago i took it out and thought i would try it again and again it didn’t work contacted tech support and they couldn’t make it work. They told me to send it back they would replace it and send it back. Three weeks later they call me and they tell me the unit is a dummy and they would not replace it. I told them that i was told that it was a demo not a dummy they said they wouldn’t do anything. I told them to at least refund the shipping they alked down to me and told me that the money for shipping went to the shipping company i told them you had to be a mental midget not to know where the shipping money went. I told them that the only dummy was me for thinking that golf buddy was a reputable company. i hope i am around at the pga show this year and tell customers the service you will get with this company. I have friends that own 16 golf stores and they already know what they have done and they are governing theirself accordingly. I hope this make it to as many people as possible so everyone can see how this company treats the retailers what do you think they will do to the average customer.

Sorry to hear you had such a lousy experience. I only looked at a few reveiew for the Golf Buddy vs the Sky caddie and it seemed to me since I didnt want to pay an annual subscription and liked the fact that 20000 courses came preloaded would be nice so I didnt have to load upp courses I might play. Needless to say I bought it a week ago and went to 3 different courses in my area and each were redy to go when I walked up to the tee box. Autocourse recognition is really nice. Shot tracking and more.
Anyway a freind of mine has the skycaddies sg5 and putting our side by side and after playing a round together he is thinking about getting one of these sky buddies and giving the skycaddie to his son to use.
The golf buddy is really cool. Incase I didnt mention I have the GolfBuddy Tour model.
Anyway just thought I would share a positive experience!

I have hade my GolfBuddy Pro and have had no problems with it. Accuracy is good and went golfing in Va., Florida at Disney courses, Orlando National and Myrtle Beach and the couses clicked on when we where at the course. Do not have to pay for downloads. I had a sureshot but sold it and did not want to pay download fees and it would only hold 10 courses. I think it is good value for the money

My overall rating of the Golf Buddy Plus is poor. They advertise it as being durable. The definition of durable is “lasting for a long time”. I bought my GPS on July 30th, 2009 and it lasted until September 18th, 2009. The first thing that went wrong was the plastic cover for the UBS port. It fell off and was lost. I accidently dropped the unit on my foot and then it slid to the ground. The “Mark” button broke. I called Golf Buddy and explained and they asked me to send it back for repair. I received a call from Jason who explained that they do not carry that part any longer and could not fix it. They gave me two options. They could send the unit back to me as is (Broken) or I could pay an additional $100 plus shipping and get a new Golf Buddy Plus. Somehow this doesn’t seem fair. I feel the right thing to do is replace it at no cost and revoke the warranty on the new one. They do not back their product what so ever. I handled this unit very carefully except for this unfortunate accident. If this is what they mean by “Durable” they are sadly mistaken. Additionally they decided to drop the shipping charge. After I explained that it wasn’t fair to call their product durable when it did not perform as they advertised. They dropped it to $80 at a later point. I guess the ironic thing is they went into a negotiation with me when all I wanted them to do is the right thing. Apparently they do not understand what that is. If you decide that Golf Buddy is for you be very careful not to drop it or get it wet because they will blame you for it and refuse to back their product. Customer satisifaction is not very high on their priority list. Consumer beware.
