In order to shrink the hard disk to set up another partition, had to use recovery disks as the PC ocmes with unmovable files physically located at the back of the disk!
Also, while the PC says 800 mhz memory, mine has 667 in it. Will be following up on this. Others hsould probably check.
Vista64 won’t run 16 bit programs. Throw out all of your old stuff. I am looking into downgrading the system (would prefer XP); I would rather give up the gigabyte of memory than throw out my old stuff!

i’ve had this toshiba for three weeks and i’ve found that it’s great, just one thing… it happens that after some time like 10 minutes that i turned it on the synaptics touchPad stops working and that happens every time i use it, and i haven’t found the reason, and it might be something little for some, but i found it very useful, and now that i don’t have it, or that it doesn’t work, it’s very stressful and i’ve seen other reviews and it’s not just me, it happened to several people that have this toshiba.

Purchased at Best buy for $479. Great performance for a low cost machine.

Purchased at Best Buy for $479.00. Unbelievable price for a 4G of RAM and a 64 bit system. Works great and looks good

I got this unit for Chirstmas and it is a good machine for my use. It meets my needs to surf the net and do some gaming. I like that the webcam feature for long trips away from home. It would of been nice if it had an S-video and a fire wire port but I can live with that. I enjoy this machine easy to use and recommend it to anyone who needs a quality laptop at a reasonable price good for a young student or adult with daily uses.

I Got the laptop from Best-buy on the day after thanksgiving, and paid $420 for it. Ran pretty well, but there was an issue with one of the USB ports.. I think it was just a fluke, as I haven’t heard . took it to best buy to get it repaired, and their customer service was terrible… Not the laptop’s fault though… The Nerd-Herd lost my box with charger, manual, restore disks, and put scratches on the cover, screen, and hand-rest… refused to replace the laptop, and only gave me a copy of vista to load after arguing for almost an hour(they didn’t reinstall it when they replaced the hard drive)… Back to the laptop… It still runs extremely cool.(but I don’t use it on my bed or lap without a hard surface underneath) battery life hasn’t declined, and its pretty durable. The hinges are still strong. It wouldn’t run the 64 bit version of vista that my brother loaned me.. Could be that its for the L305S, but I’m not sure. Right now, I am running Linux Mint 6 Felicia. It runs, but there are numerous driver conflicts… the wireless card took me a few hours to get working, and if you force quit Linux, you have to re-run the installation.. Takes 5 minutes if you have the instructions and files still… Audio doesn’t play well in Linux, though its great in Vista.
Overall, this is an awesome laptop for the price.
DO NOT BUY AT BEST BUY!!! >.<

This machine was broken out of the box from best buy in November, 2 weeks got it replaced, 4 months later there is a hardware issue of sorts nobody seems to know sent it in for repair first time they fixed something totally stupid 5 minutes out of the box problem still there its power related. I called toshiba tech support was useless tell me I have to send it back I say know guy thinks battery is bad (I don’t Think so) so I let him send me one anyhow Guess what its still broke, now I have to send it back to them again. I want my money back or a new machine I would even upgrade. until they do seomething I will say toshiba is the worst investment ever. wven if the price was good machine still sucks

i dont undertand why the battery gets so hot. my brother has a hp pavilion dv2700 and the baterry gets normal temperature. I have had some problems with the cord power( ac adapter). few months ago the cord power didnt want to flow electricity. after some time 20 minutes it fixed. 2 months after the same, i don’t know why. also it says we have to wash hands after handleling the cord power becauseit has a chemical that could affect reproduction or produce some birth defects. Common Toshiba i have to wash my hands everytime i touch the cord power and it seems hazardous. the rest works pretty cool fast and easy, i don’t like the graphics ati radeon x1200.

I bought the L305D at Best Buy and have only one minor complaint: The graphics card is to old to run several games. The game “Mirror’s Edge” was started a few years ago and requires pixel shader 3.0 (also shader model 3.0). The card that supports that is an ATI Radeon x1900 (or Nvidia GeForce 6200). I have an ATI Radeon x1250 which does not have shader model 3.0 and therefore won’t play Mirror’s Edge, which I later found out doesn’t run well with ATI Radeon’s anyway. When I bought this laptop the rep went on and on about it being top of the line, but if it were it would have an up-to-date graphics card. I also bought GTAIV, but again it requires shader model 3.
here’s a list of some games that require shader model 3:
GTA IV
Mirror’s Edge
Sins of a solar empire
