Mazda 3 iTouring Sedan: Starting problems

If you start the car and move it a few feet (say from the driveway to the garage) and turn it off, it will not start again. You have to floor it several times while turning the key over several minutes to get it started again.
The first time it happened it was 6 weeks old and I had it towed to the dealer. The computer found nothing wrong, even though they had to try several times to get it started.

It has now happened two more times within a year.
I am told by the service department that they can do nothing unless they know what is wrong. And IF I leave it with them to try to re-produce the issue a loaner will not be available since they cannot confirm the problem.

Any one else run into this problem?
