Call of Duty World at War: Not reconizing disc

I recently purchased call of duty world at war. I installed it and then attempted to play solo. A message came up “please put proper dvd-rom and press enter”. I only have one disc with game. My computer has all the memory and everything else you need to play game. I have tried numerous times to install the game and get the same message. I have also downloaded all patches. Can anyone give me some advice? Thank you.
