Just had my truck redone. They sell a kit but you do have to drill out the old ones, and basically heli-coil in new threads. I let my mechanic do it. It cost 225.00 bucks.

My Ford Dealer wants to replace my manifolds on my 2001 and he only wants $1900 to do the job.

Talked to a mechanic who said if he can’t get the studs out he will have to take the heads off to get at the studs to tap.

Another mechanic said Ford removes the Truck cab to get at the studs. He thought a solution might be to trade in my Truck.

Still looking for a real answer.

I’m having the same issue with my 2004 F-150. The solution is to pull the motor, drill and install thte upgrade kit. I’m an engineer and designing parts that bolt together, you never mix different metals together. So what was Ford thinking….cheaper to sell a truck, but we will get them on the repair cost. Total cost is $1500, I’m replacing both manifolds. Has anyone had thier spark plugs replaced yet?
