My son received the update; but what is stated to take a couple of minutes, is taking an hour.
How long should this take?

I just updated mine. Here is what I did: Turn on blu-ray player and format the local storage. Then I unzipped the firmware file and copied the 4 files on to a freshly formatted USB flash drive. I plugged it in and chose the firmware update option from the players setup menu. You select USB, then select yes. The player restarted and the front panel display reads “FLASH” and the tv screen shows a big memorex logo. It stays like this for a few minutes, then the player reboots itself and I went into the software menu in the setup menu to check the version. It should be 45.2009…. and a few other numbers. Before it was “2008″. Hope this helps
