For the XBox 360 version of Call of Duty World at War, it won’t find any players in the lobby other than me when trying to play Live.

Yes, I have the same exact problem for me too, but i have the ps3 version.. i cant seem to figure out the problem, i have set up a static ip adress along with opening ports 28960. Still with that done iam still left in the lobby “waiting for other players” or ” trying to join potential matches”. AHHH NOTHING IAM PISSED OFF AS OF RIGHT NOW. HELP!
I’ve had the same problem for the xbox360. But I found I have to do this everytime I log on to find a match: Select to find a game, then team deathmatch (or whatever match you’d like to play) then while it’s waiting, go to your xbox dashboard and sign out of LIVE. Then sign back in immediately after and try to find a match again. You should be dropped right into a game from there. I don’t know why it gets stuck, but I guess I have to do this every time I log on.
i can do this on free for all but not on any others is there any answer to this problem is it the disc or what will it eventually sort it self out?

i had the same problem on the ps3
i connected in like 2 seconds and had 8 other players once but then after it just keeps saying “waiting for 3 players”

The issues you guys are having keep an eye out for the good old message Downloading games settings i was getting this message while having no luck connecting to cod4 and cod5 sessions on 360 live.
I have since found out from manufacturers that this means packet loss to servers and or hosts.
I also got lots of game freezing etc and endless wait times to get into a game only to find laggy sessions etc.
ISP is at fualt - if you get long periods of downloading game settings message, as this message indicates directly that you are having network issues.
I got my isp to remove NAT function from my cable modem — all my problems went away i think they my have moved me off traffic shapers too as speeds are a little better im on 20mb cable so you would imagine i have more than enough speed and that is true , however my isp insists on overcrowding the network (greed) and this i believe is the route casue to this issue. Like all of you, ALL my other games run fine only these two cod vers need so much online connectivity for multiplayer sessions and fast ping rates.

try ping your countries ver of google ie i mean if uk then ping google.co.uk or in my case in ireland i do start/run/cmd in dos box type ping google.ie -t - this is a continuos ping test, times to reply will be displayed , Now im on 20MBS so i should be blazing like a mad dog from hell but no i get 150 - 200 ms replies to a search engine in my own coutnry now that sucks
GET ON TO ISP = is the answer provided you are getting the downloading game settings message.
this makes me mad. when i go in trying to play team death match on 360, it searches then it says waiting for 6 more players and my name doesn’t show up then i says “you must be signed in to Xbox LIVE” bla bla bla and it signs me out. Microsoft better figure this out.
This is soooo weird. I see what dave is saying, but I don’t get it. What is NAT function and 200 ms? I have an xbox 360. I don’t need a headache from all this IT Techie jibberish. I mean, seriously man! Why do Tech savvy people think EVERYONE knows their language. Why can’t I just plug in and play. Isn’t that the idea behind all this PS3/XBOX/Wii explosion. I mean, kids and parents want to play online, but then theres all this other nonsense about ISP’s and NAT connectivity, and 200 ms, and static IP, & Strict NAT vs. OPEN NAT. What is all that. I just want to play. Now, can anyone tell me who’s fault it is?
My connection is AWESOME. I have 3 other wireless devices off the router and they are tip-top. What up with the 360? I just want a match in a few seconds, not HOURS.

i had same problem today,turned downloads to max 200 kbps on my pc and i havent had problems since
i had the same problem. drove me crazy till i found this site. i was downloading something on my laptop and as soon as i logged off it worked normally. Thanks vavaff

Okay, so my problem is, my xbox will come on and say downloading settings. I go “okay, i guess i’ll wait.” But when i try to find a match it takes forever, then when i get in a match it’s super laggy where i can’t even play. I need semi-basic instructions on how to fix this cause i am getting real mad.

There is problem with your xbox live connection.
Need to run an xbox live test.

hey, i have been having this problem like anyone else. i assume its because i am downloading all kinds of shit and thats why this is happening. well its not me exactly, my roommate is the one downloading lots of stuff. so i am want to know how i can figure this out without having to stop the downloads. i figure i have to talk to my isp. in that case what should i tell them? let me know thanks.
