Pokemon Go 1.8.0, 0.38.0 update after Buddy feature

By Alan Ng - Sep 12, 2016

Pokemon Go fever has hit millions of users worldwide, with the app breaking the record to become the most downloaded mobile game in the US and has now even passed Twitter for most daily active users.

That is staggering when you think about it, but now it’s time to get to business: New Pokemon Go updates. The developers are busy updating the game on Android and iOS and now we look ahead to when the next Pokemon Go update is out on iOS and Android.

This should be the Pokemon Go 1.8 update or 1.7.5 patch on iOS and possibly 0.38.0 or 0.37.5 on Android – we are currently on version 1.7, but we have seen that versions keep jumping upon each release so Pokemon Go 1.7.1 probably won’t happen.

More importantly though, the developer Niantic Labs has said that their next priority for the game is to add trading to Pokemon Go!

There’s no confirmation that trading will come in the next update, but hopefully it will along with plans to add other big feature requests as well, such as battling with friends in Pokemon Go.

One thing is for sure, the next Pokemon Go update in September 2016 needs to be a good one, as it’s clear so many players are angry after Niantic removed third-party tracking apps which allowed players to find and identify Pokemon easily.

We will be updating this page regularly when new updates are released, so bookmark this page and keep checking page for the next Pokemon Go update, which should be version 1.8 or 1.7.5 on iOS.

Do you have any problems with the latest version of Pokemon Go on iOS or Android? Leave your thoughts below and tell us how bad you want to see trading in Pokemon Go.

I really hope they’ll make the new tracker available for everyone in the next update :'( So many ppl in Germany/England already got it, it seems like they forgot our region. I really hope the next update will make it available for everyone or at least some more regions.

Am I alone here or is the 1.7.0 update on iOS still not out yet? I’m still stuck at 1.5.0 here in Indonesia.

  • NgTurbo

Added the current patch notes to the game, what does everyone think about the Buddy feature and what needs to come next??

  • Jess Pe Benito

0.35.0 on Zenfone 2 Deluxe crashes with weak network. Had to go down to 0.33.0 just to play

  • NgTurbo

1.5.0 is live on iOS! 0.35.0 on Android.. Niantic pulling out another surprise. What does everything think about appraisals?

  • Loly pop

I want friendly battles so that I can get xp fast

  • NgTurbo

Wonder what Niantic are saving for their big Pokemon Go 2.0 update.. will this be the trading patch?

  • NgTurbo

Tester, looks like they listened to you with the new update. Happy?

  • tester

not happy with the loss of battery saver mode.

  • NgTurbo

So it looks like 1.1.1 killed the game for a lot of people.. how can Niantic get everyone back?

  • Tracer

I wonder when we get finally some actuall update on android… it was supposed to come this week and all we got was minor patch fixing some random texts.

  • NgTurbo

Wonder if Niantic is saving trading and battling until version 2.0, all these 1.0.x patches are probably just going to be bug fixes

Reportedly there were a lot of studies commissioned to see how well the game would do and they did expect it to be much bigger than Ingress but no one at Niantic or Nintendo or the Pokemon company (yes, they really did make it its own company) expected it to catch on so suddenly.
They thought they’d build a solid base and expand the game over time but there was a perfect storm of word of mouth, the massive nostalgia of the fan base and social media that just exploded months faster than expected. It didn’t hurt that at this particular moment in time people were looking for a fun, innocent diversion from constant bad news AND the game brought people together in friendly ways which is something people are always searching for.
So now they are spending almost all the time and effort that would have gone to upgrades on server overloads and hackers.
The games been out barely two weeks. We need to calm down and be patient. This is worth it.

    • Dhajxhd

      Totally agree

  • Manuel Bonnay

    That s bug bug bug
No pokémon are poping and there s already the foot bug… This maj is totally useless

  • NgTurbo

Disappointing update guys! Who else expected more??

  • Seles Zelyph

Trading, friend system, team menu, old school battle system where you earn xp/$. Old school leveling system. Player alert system that tells you when another player is within a set radius of you and whether that player is a friend.

    • Alca Bringer

if you want “oldschool” battling, play the real games. pokemon go is not a main title.

and this comes from a pokemon competitive player since 19 yrs.

  • CraigConstable

Just downloaded 1.0.3 update description is “Minor text fixes”

    • Travis Chaney

      Yup. What a joke.

  • Jason Butler

Trading.. nah i think thats a bad idea. Pokemon should be found not bought!

They should focus on the bugs/issues first

    • Tracer

trading was ingame since one of the first editions on GBC so its quite logical to see it here too.

  • NgTurbo

What does everyone want to see next?

    • Catwoman

Crashes/bugs/servers fixed. I think that should be priority over anything else. If the base game isn’t working properly, why add new features? You don’t put rims on a car with a bad tranny…

  • NgTurbo

Lots of ppl still having problems with the trainer club after his iOS update, me included. Anyone else??

    • Elizabeth Cheeney

I just did the update on IOS and now it has me starting all over! Please tell me this is a bug and there is a fix. I’m about to cry!
