Projectors ARE NOT Dangerous to use: Teachers & School Children need not worry

Me giving thumbs up
Let me start this off by saying I was a lead audio & visual engineer for about 4 years and knew my job pretty well, I myself fitted whiteboards all over the UK in many schools and I mean thousands as well as offices and conference boardrooms. The two main interactive whiteboards I used to fit were SmartBoards and Promethean boards and many different types of projectors. I will explain more after I have told you of the latest news that is out.

The latest news is there is a health scare in England about Whiteboard Projectors saying that these projectors are to blame for major panic for mums and dads across the country, apparently there as been an ongoing study of the projectors fitted in schools across the UK saying that and they quote “viewer’s peripheral retina could be overexposed even when they are not actually staring directly into the beam” Protestors are complaining saying that the brightness of the beam of light should be toned down to be no more than 1,500 lumens. Teachers and students alike have said that they get dazzle effects after looking at the board for long periods of time.

Happy using whiteboard

Right now let me say my piece – Yes looking directly into the beam of light can be harmful to your eyes if you look at it but and a big but, so can a house light bulb if your stared at it too long, yes so can the sun if you look directly at it. Children’s and adults have been taught and is common nature not too look directly at ANY light source. Now going back to staring at the whiteboard for long periods, of course you will get a dazzle effect, you are looking at one large area whilst standing close to it, but to say it can be dangerous is absolutely pathetic. People need to go get themselves a life and complain about real life issues that matter (you know like global warming, murders, peace etc). I say the complaints by teachers mainly stem from that they are scared of new technology, and I know this for a fact because 60% of teachers are of age where they are used to conventional methods you know (THE CHALK BOARD). (oh the picture right at the top is of me underneath install)
