The Olympus Evolt E-510 SLR is a solid built digital camera that comes with some nice features including Live View and Image Stabilization modes; these nice customization features are more than enough for entry-level users. While the autofocus is sluggish and the white-balance and exposure is subpar, these can both be improved if you tweak the default settings.

The exposure issues can be overcome by using a shooting mode other than Program and the blurring problem can be fixed by switching the Noise Filter to Low or off. The LCD preview (Live View) mode is fantastic and the sensor-shift image stabilization is a good feature. While it’s not the best in it’s the class, you may want to give the Olympus Evolt E-510 a chance because of the good Image Stabilization and Live View modes.

If Olympus had set the default settings a little different out of the box this camera could of achieved much better results in reviews, so this means that users would have to work out how to change them to get the best the Evolt E-510 can be. This is something not all entry-level users will like. You can get just the body of this camera for around $484.88, but if you are looking for the lens as well look to pay $626.69 - $805.95 (with 14-42mm and 40-150mm lenses). View stores on CNet.
