Apple iPhone 16GB from AT&T: pay $499.00 or wait for 3G phone

It’s not an easy decision to make when thinking of buying an Apple iPhone at the moment, the reason for this is because we could be seeing the 3G Apple iPhone much sooner than most consumers would like to think and that’s not long after we have seen the new 16GB versions.

When I got my iPhone it was just the 8GB version you could buy, now we have a 16GB option and also a 3G iPhone with many improvements coming soon. So do you wait for the 3G phone or just jump in now and buy the 8GB iPhone with the chance of it dropping price and you losing money.

Currently AT&T have the Apple iPhone 16GB priced at $499.00 and the 8GB priced at $399, you can buy them here on AT&T. You should also note that this deal requires you take a 2-year plan that is ordered during the activation process.

Since buying the Apple iPhone I will say that it was the best phone come handheld computer I have ever owned, the specs are amazing and they include applications such as Google Maps, a multi-touch screen, full-screen web browsing, best email ever on a mobile phone, lightweight and it doubles up as a widescreen iPod.

The one question left would be: do you buy now or wait for the 3G phone?

    I’m waiting.

I waited 6 months for my contract to be up and I was ready to pull the trigger last week.

    Then the rumours.

I’ve waited this long. A few weeks or months are not going to hurt now.

Moved to short term contract with Orange just for this moment. The iphone 1 was never going to make a real long term tool. Apple were just using it to test the water. Now they should know what the punter want and I’ll be ready to shelve Orange and their appalling service as soon as the iphone 2 is released, subject to improved functionality, a reasonable price and decent contract conditions.
If these improvements don’t happen, then its a Samsung or SE for me and many others I’m sure. (..and Apple will have lost the phone war; the competition will not give them another chance to get it right. They will be shafted.)
