BMW recall affects 200,000 3 Series, 5 Series, X3
The NHTSA has announced that BMW have issued a recall of 200,000 of their vehicles. The recall covers both cars and SUVs, the models affected are the 2006 3 Series, 2004-06 5 Series and 2004-06 X3 SUVs.
The reason for the recall is a faulty airbag which does not deploy when the car is involved in an accident.
The problem is not down to the airbag itself but in the sensors that detect when there is someone sitting in the front passenger seat. When the system is working properly, the sensor will disengage the passenger airbag if there is no one sitting in the seat.
As the sensor is not working correctly, there could be a passenger in the car but the air bag will not deploy, this could lead to injury.
BMW has reported that there have not been any injuries, as there is a warning light that lets you know that the airbag is disengaged.
Owners of those BMW’s affected should contact their local BMW dealer.

Kroger ground beef recall could affect July 4 barbecues

As we all know it will be July 4 tomorrow, so many people will want to celebrate Independence Day by firing up their barbecues. Well some grills might look a little empty this year as a result of the Kroger ground beef recall, and news has just come in that the recall has now expanded to 20 states across the U.S.
The Kroger Co. has had to issue this voluntary recall of some of their ground beef products, as the meat may be contaminated with E. coli. The grocer, who is the largest in the U.S., has asked for all customers to check their ground beef in their refrigerators and freezers, just to see if it is covered by this recall.
The Kroger Co. had to issue this voluntary recall following a federal investigation, where investigators had to try and pinpoint the source of a salmonella outbreak, which was separate case. That outbreak was linked to tomatoes where almost 900 people become ill; this has now raised more questions as to the safety of the food that we eat.
Investigators still maintain that the tomatoes are the leading suspect however; they are looking at other produce, but they have not yet commented as to which vegetables they are looking at.
Ok this beef recall could not have come at a worse time, the thing is people would have already had their beef products for their BBQ’s and now have to send it back to the store. Now you have to wonder if there will be enough beef left on shelves as people try to replace what they had.

Ford Recall F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks: faulty power brake assist hose

Today we are hearing that there is a Ford Recall for F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks, the Ford Motor Company has recalled these trucks because of a faulty power brake assist hose that has caused no injuries but did cause 11 minor accidents. The company reported they would recall more than 650,000 vehicles that are equipped with the 5.4-liter three-valve engine. This recall includes 2005 and 2006 F-150 and Mark LT trucks, it was also confirmed by to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The problem with the faulty power brake assist hose is that it can swell over time and this can cause the hose to become detached from the intake manifold, if this happens then the breaking creates increased pressure on the brake pedal. 50,000 of the recalled vehicles are from Canada, 1,500 are in other countries and the rest of in the United States. Although we are breaking this news now, it seems Ford does not have the parts to make the repair needed and they have said they will start notifying F-150 and Mark LT owners of the recall in early July. This was made aware in letters to Ford Lincoln and Mercury dealers, if you do own one of the vehicles or want more information then you can contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Obviously this repair will not cost the customers anything when Ford starts the recall in a couple of months.
What do you make on this recall and would you wish to be contacted sooner?

Hyundai Sonata Recall of 393,714 Sedans: issue with air bag system

Today we are hearing that there has been a Hyundai Sonata recall of 393,714 sedans, the reason given was because of an issue with the air bag system and this issue is more to-do with complaints as the isn’t defective per se. The company has had customers complain about how the advanced air bag system in the Hyundai Sonata works, some small adults have sat in the front passenger seat and the system is shutting off.
These advanced air bag systems are meant to shut off when small children sit in the front seat as it’s said the force of an airbag deploying can do more harm than the airbag not being deployed. The Sonata recall will start in May and dealers will check over the air bag system and make the changes needed, if you need more information you can phone Hyundai on 800-633-5151.
Its good to see Hyundai taking the safety of consumers seriously, this is a company that has made a big investment in North America that totals more than $1 billion. The new model of Sonata is now being built in one of the most advanced auto assembly plants in North America.
Leave a comment if you have any other information on the Hyundai Sonata recall.

Even though this is the case, we are hearing that it will not be to the end of the month when Toyota will begin notifying owners by mail.
