As reported from Examiner, GPS Pal has been designed by a Texas-based company and works by disguising itself as a ‘cup holder’ to store your expensive GPS unit inside.

GPS Pal will support any standard GPS unit in your vehicle’s cup holder for quicker access and unobstructed windshield visibility. Other advantages include protection from sunlight in hot conditions and it also eliminates the obstacle of wires.

What are your thoughts on GPS Pal, do you think it will be a success? More info through the link.

Engadget recently put the camera through its paces and here is a quick run through of what they thought. First of all the camera is quite expensive retailing at around $800, with this price tag users will demand an exceptional standards.

Aesthetically the camera looks and feels like a camera Olympus would have designed in the 60s, the camera seems very rugged and is not too heavy, and compared to other DSLR cameras it feel extremely compact. You can see a gallery of pictures of the camera here.

To the rear of the camera you can see a 3 inch LCD which is said to be extremely hard to see in outdoor daylight, therefore when outdoors you have to almost shoot photos with the camera blindly as there is no viewfinder either. The standard settings and photo options are all easily accessible via the controls on the rear, and after using the camera for a short while you do not feel lost in its menu structure.

The photo quality can be seen here, as you can see the stock lens can produce some exceptional photos at a wide range of distances. Our early impressions of the image quality from the E-P1 are mostly positive, this is accomplished by the impressive autofocus. However as mentioned above outdoor shots sometimes seemed more luck then judgment.

As for video shooting reviews came back very positive, the 720p video is said to be ‘breathtaking’ and the only criticism is that sometime when the lens is focusing the lens motor can be heard during playback, obviously this usually would be worked around by having a audio input for a microphone, however the camera does not have one. Check out the video below to see the video quality.

From what we can tell the camera only has to slight imperfections worth mentioning, these are that it has no viewfinder and it has no audio input for microphones.

Check out Engadget for the full review which shows sample pictures, photos of the product, sample videos and a lot more.

And we think it’s wise to do so, considering the $1300 asking price for this unit. We have three reviews for you to check out, thanks to the Photography Blog, Wired and ePHOTOzine.

The Photography Blog have highlighted the excellent weatherproofing in the K-7 and have said the LCD screen was ‘one of the best they had ever seen’ on a DSLR.

ePHOTOzine were impressed by the sheer quality of images, while Wired said that the package given was a robust one considering the price.

Have a read of all three reviews and let us know your thoughts on the Pentax K-7.

Amazon will ship the OLED walkman on July 3, 2009, while Sony will start shipping tomorrow, July 2, 2009. SoftSailer have remarked that they do not think purchasing the new Sony Walkman would be a great idea, as the iPod Touch now has the new iPhone OS 3.0, which brings with it a host of improvements.

Microsoft also has its new Zune HD, which is certain to have a host of features that are better than the new OLED Sony Walkman. If you still wish to go for the Sony device, then you will be pleased to know that the device comes with 100 free MPs downloads.

Just a last bit of advice, Amazon are offering free shipping and a discount, not sure how much though.

If you head over to Gizmodo you can see a full review of Panasonic’s latest digital camera, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1, if you read our review on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 last November you will probably be shocked to hear that this latest camera has exactly the same still shooting capabilities as the G1.

The thing that is different about this version of the camera is it has a ‘H’ in the model name, this ‘H’ simply stands for High-definition, considering there is a $700 price difference in my opinion this is a big difference just for the additional High-definition video recording capabilities.

Due to the identicalness of the still photography with the G1 and the GH1 you would hope that the video recording was exceptional to justify the price difference, as it turns out the video recording was exceptional, recording a 1080p.

The major thing holding this camera back is its current $1500 price tag, if you already posses a half decent still photography camera why buy this rather then a cheaper High-definition camera?

Check out Gizmodo for a full detailed review which include sample photos, videos and a much deeper look into the cameras features.

We already know much about the D300s, but not much is known about the D3000, as Nikon had not announced it. The D300s sports a microphone, which could be used for the rumored video mode. Apart from that, there is not much difference with the body from this new model and the old D300.

The body of the D3000 is similar to the D5000 (Read a detailed review), but it does not have a Microphone and of course is a little smaller. There does not seem to be a HDMI port either, so this all points to an entry-level DSLR camera. The signs are all pointing to a summer launch for both models.

The main difference between the two cameras is that the AgfaPhoto is specifically designed to be a camera used underwater whereas the Pentax seemed to be more of a digital camera which can be submerged.

The DV-600UW camera is allowed to be submerged to a diving depth of 30 feet which is almost double what the Pentax can withstand. The 6 megapixel camera is designed to have great light sensitivity for dingy underwater shots. It seems also that Agfa have really tried to create an easy to use camera which can easily be switched from underwater mode to land more extremely quickly.

For non professional underwater photography you cant go wrong, in terms of design, ease of use, functionality and cost the AgfaPhoto Waterproof DV-600uw delivers on everything.

Epson today announced that they were starting to mass produce its 3LCD chips, these tiny LCDs have a diagonal of just 0.55 of an inch and support a resolution of 1024×768. These chips are believed to be the worlds smallest LCDs and are to be used in data projectors.

Using the new 3LCD chips will enable projectors to deliver up to 2600 lumens of brightness, apparently the company managed to achieve this by combining an organic alignment layer to a liquid crystal material with high light resistance.

With portable media players becoming ever popular demand has grown for portable projectors, such as the MiLi Evolution Mini Power Projector which allows you to plug your iPhone or iPod Touch directly into the projector. Therefore smaller internal components are allowing such technologies to become possible.

Details are still quite scarce however it is understood that this will act as a projector dock for your iPod Touch and the iPhone to sit in, allowing users to watch videos from their Apple devices projected on screen sizes up to around 70 inches.

Chances are that due to the size of the unit image quality will not be really sharp, nor will it be great in conditions that aren’t very dark, the The MiLi Evolution Mini Power Projector is expected to retail at about $255 at the end of July.

While it doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as good as the Samsung P410m, it is certainly a good concept which may lead to better products in the future.
The first thing to mention is that Aquos TV’s and Sharp professional LCD’s that are currently on sale are fine to be sold, more importantly new displays that should be hitting the shelves soon have been modified so that they no longer infringe Samsung’s patent.

Sharp were keen to add that this does not change the the TV’s specs in anyway. The new TV’s model number can be distinguished easily as they are the same as before, but they have a ‘N’ at the end.
Whether this is an indication of a possible future iPod version or something that has been blown out of proportion is yet to be seen however a while back a reference to an iPhone 2.1 model was found, this turned out to be the iPhone 3GS. If this does in-fact turn out to be an indication of a new version of the iPod chances are Apple will release it in September.

The Canon PowerShot D10 currently dominates the waterproof point-and-shoot camera market however Pentax hopes to change this.

A quick run-down of the camera shows it has a 12.1MP camera, a 5x optical zoom, and a wide-angle lens. There is also the functionality to record video at 720p at 30 frames per second and the phone has a 2.5 inch LCD display. Along with the above mentioned features it also has face recognition and shake reduction, allowing crisper photos to be taken.

In terms of robustness the camera is designed to withstand submersion in up to 16 feet of water, also it can withstand the extreme cold (up to -14 Degrees Celsius) and drops from around 1 metre. The camera is also resistant to dust.

If you are one of the unlucky few, whose Garmin 7×5 Series GPS will not even turn on, then there is an online support section where you can request a return authorization so you can return it for repair under its warranty.

Garmin have also admitted that this issue could also be affecting some of its other models; these include the GPSMAP 620 / 640, 800 series, 8×5 series and the zūmo 660. All models will also be receiving a new firmware update soon.

The video can be seen below or on Engadget‘ s website.

The video shows off its robust look, along with the small design, however in my opinion the two features that stand out the most is the extremely bright OLED display and the extremely quick OS which seems instantaneous.

Whether the Zune HD will ever compete against the iPod Touch is yet to be seen, but I really like the look of the Zune HD and reports state that there have been no issues discovered so far, even with its HD video playback, don’t forget to check out the gallery on Engadget.

Would you buy a Zune HD?

According to the Los Angeles Times a huge blow has been dealt to Sharp Corp, they have recently lost a U.S Trade Commission ruling stating that they infringe a patent held by Samsung. According to Engadget and The Los Angeles Times this has resulted in a ban on Sharp importing LCD’s into the U.S, for this ban to become effective it will have to be scrutinised by President Obama.

The infringement is said to have occurred with some of Sharp’s LCD’s (Liquid Crystal Displays) and some computer monitors, this wasn’t the only patent which Samsung felt was infringed however the U.S Trade Commission overturned the other accusation.

Samsung are already the worlds biggest manufacturer of LCD’s and this will be another chance for Samsung to expand their ever growing dominance in the market.

It is also said that Samsung infringe four of Sharp’s patents, and earlier this month a judge recommended that Samsung TVs should also be banned from the U.S, however this was only a recommendation and has yet to materialise.

We all know that technology these days is getting better like everyday but there is nothing that makes this new digiframe much different from the rest, its not like it has Bluetooth built in or even a feature when you can send the pictures directly to your computer using a Wi-Fi connection.

Considering this frame isn’t much different to the rest it does still have some useful features such as, a new quick touch toolbar, a collage mode so you can view more than one picture at the same time, you can also watch the videos you have recorded and even listen to music on it, a rechargeable battery so you can have it looking like a normal picture from with the cordless look and it also has 1GB of memory built in and there is a new picture finder feature which allows people to view pictures in the order they were taken which makes it easier for them to locate the picture they are looking for.

This new digiframe isn’t yet available in the US or Canada but when its released it will have a price tag of $139 but if your living in Europe you can pick one up now but with a price of €149, the expected release date for this new digiframe in America and Canada is this September.

For the full report on this new frame head over to engadget.com
