Last week we reported about the Pentax Optio W80 waterproof digital camera, well this week Agfa have announced their AgfaPhoto Waterproof DV-600uw camera. The main difference between the two cameras is that the AgfaPhoto is specifically designed to be a camera used underwater whereas the Pentax seemed to be more of a digital camera which can be submerged. Pentax Optio W80 Camera: waterproof point-and-shoot

Camera manufacturers Pentax have announced they will be releasing a new digital camera, this digital camera is called the Pentax Optio W80, and is a direct competitor against Canon’s PowerShot D10. The Canon PowerShot D10 currently dominates the waterproof point-and-shoot camera market however Pentax hopes to change this.
A quick run-down of the camera shows it has a 12.1MP camera, a 5x optical zoom, and a wide-angle lens. There is also the functionality to record video at 720p at 30 frames per second and the phone has a 2.5 inch LCD display. Along with the above mentioned features it also has face recognition and shake reduction, allowing crisper photos to be taken.
In terms of robustness the camera is designed to withstand submersion in up to 16 feet of water, also it can withstand the extreme cold (up to -14 Degrees Celsius) and drops from around 1 metre. The camera is also resistant to dust.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II firmware update and improvements

Good news for Canon EOS 4D Mark II owners now, as Canon have revealed that a firmware update is on the way soon. While it won’t bring the much desired autofocus feature, it will offer some other exciting additions.
According to Engadget, the firmware update is going to add manual exposure control while taking a video, while also adding improvements to aperture settings and shutter speed.
That’s the only details that were revealed at the moment, we’ll keep you updated on further news. Engadget state that owners of the camera should expect the update sometime around June, so not long to wait at all.

LG wins review by U.S. officials over Kodak importing cameras

LG Electronics Inc, (066570) had requested to bar Eastman Kodak Co. (EK) from importing digital cameras, and the Korean company has won a review by U.S. officials. Bloomberg have reported that the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington has said that they are to investigate the complaint that LG brought on February 20. Read more
