Dell Inspiron Mini 9, flyer leaked with price information

September 4, 2008

We wrote earlier this week about the new Dell netbook, although it’s not actually had an official announcement by Dell. The guys over at pocket-lint have a leaked flyer of the Dell Inspiron Mini which discloses the price, so we have posted it for you to have a look at the evidence.

So if we take a closer look at the flyer, this great new Dell netbook will be called The Dell Inspiron Mini 9, will sport an internal WiFi module and include an Intel Atom N270 processor. This little beauty will weigh in at 2.28-pounds.

The baseline model which will set you back $349 will include: 4 GB SSD, 512MB of RAM and will include Ubuntu Linux 8.04, and it’s looking like it will available in black and white. If you want to pay an extra $50 toy can get the 8GB SSD and a cool 0.3-megapixel webcam, whilst if you dig a little deeper into your pockets you can get Windows XP thrown in, 0.3 megapixel webcam and 1GB of RAM for $449. So do you think it’s a deal or not? Remember this information was leaked, and not given in blood by Dell, so could change, but we doubt they would change at the advertising stage.

The idea behind the OLPC program is that when a person purchases an XO laptop, they will pay for two, one they keep and the other they donate to a child in a developing country.

As we mentioned above Amazon will start to sell these in November around Thanksgiving in the U.S. and should go on until some time in December.

The IFA show in Berlin saw Commodore showing off a handful of prototype devices, and trying and actually succeeding in impressing the guys at IFA. The Commodore Company had lots of interesting and intriguing concepts, as well as the soon to be released netbook.

The two other devices were a Pocket PC’s, one of the pocket PC’s had a folding design and was extremely stylish, we have posted an image above of this one, and the other design wasn’t as stylish and had a sliding out QWERTY keypad.

We don’t have any information on the specs of these Pocket PC’s but there is talk that we should be able to pick them up from about 100 and 150 Euros, or roughly $220 to $290 if you want to know in US dollars. We also have no release dates, but these Pocket PC’s are something I am going to have a very keen eye on.

Dell confirms Inspiron 910 netbook arriving this week

September 3, 2008

Well I wouldn’t exactly say that the Dell’s Inspiron 910 netbook birth is a well kept secret, we heard about it about 4 months ago, although Dell reps played down the specifications which were out back then saying they were “pretty much rumor and speculation”.

Good news though, Dell told InformationWeek that the much talked about Inspiron 910 netbook is launching later this week, we can’t wait to get the full spec, but we still think that we can expect an 8.9-inch screen and 1.6GHz Atom inside the netbook.

Well any Dell reps out there reading this, are we right? I guess you’re going to keep us all in suspense, not long to wait now, we have no idea of price on this netbook but I’m sure Dell will come up with a good price tag for us, won’t you guys?

If you are looking for a powerful notebook for serious stuff then the new mini notebook from Raon digital is designed with people like you in mind.

Looking through the Raon Digitals sales brochure I saw nothing new apart from new images showing the underneath of the device, plus it now states that their new dual-core AMD-Turion based Everun Note has a revised weight of 748g which is lower than the last weight stated by Raon.

This little beauty does not come cheap, with it’s a leader in battery life and extremely miniature what else would you expect, its recommended sale price will be $879 before the US tax has been added, although it is a lot cheaper that the other high performance UMPCs, the Q1Ultra Premium and Sony UX, plus it includes a 16mm pitch keyboard and easy 3G upgrade path. Samsung X360: Better than Apple MacBook Air

September 1, 2008

This is the new ultra-thin Samsung X360 laptop, and it’s not only going to take on the Apple MacBook Air but it can also win easily.

First up, if you prefer Windows Vista when compared to Mac, the Samsung X360 is an easy choice but when you look at the features it also beats the Mac Air hands down.

The Samsung X360 notebook comes with a massive 100GB Solid State Disk (SSD), Intel Core Duo processor, a big keyboard, 3 USB’s, a VGA out and HDMI port for hooking up to HDTV’s. The weight is less at 1.27 Kilos compared to the MacBook Airs 1.36 Kilos.

As a person looking to upgrade my portable computing to a MacBook Air, it looks like I have now been converted and will wait until later this year when the Samsung X360 is released for around £1,200.

The main reason for this is the massive battery life of 10 hours; this is ideal and much longer than other laptops currently in local computers stores. Watch a video of the laptop below.

Commodore have now hit the tiny laptop market, not much is known about this tiny laptop. It will have to be something special to kick Asus of their thrown though as the Ultra Mobile PC kings.

Every time I hear the word Commodore, it reminds be of my youth. I spent many of hours late at night on my Commodore 64, and that was just to load one game.
