Asus have kept a lot of important information close to their chest for example it is no longer clear whether the PC-in-a-keyboard will be running Windows XP or a version of Moblin, another detail Asus have yet to confirm is what hardware will be within the Eee keyboard.

Asus still haven’t revealed an approximate retail price, obviously this is a major factor in whether or not the device will become successful, this is more than likely the reason why they seem to be considering opting for the free open-source Moblin rather then Windows XP. As more details emerge we will keep you posted.

The keyboard will be called the OCZ Sabre, and plans to utilize the Art Lebedev’s OLED-in-each-key-technology. Upon further inspection you will notice that the Sabre does not utilize the OLED-in-each-key completely, in-fact only the numpad uses it. It also has a bright blue LED sidelighting and a monochrome color scheme.

At this time it seems that the OCZ Sabre should retail at around $200 however this has not yet been confirmed. Check out Gizmodo for more details. We will keep you posted as more details are revealed.

PCMCIA has now announced the official release of the ExpressCard 2.0 standard, and with it comes support for SuperSpeed USB 3.0.

The transfer speeds are increased by 10-times, this is compared to the old ExpressCard 1.2. The new ExpressCard 2.0 offers up to 5Gbps bandwidth, this helps it when adding things like eSATA ports as well as high-speed storage, this includes the latest SSDs.

DigiTimes informs us that ExpressCard 2.0 is backward-compatible with previous PCMCIA cards, which means that your current 3G data card will still work with these new sockets. There is still a long wait until we will see these new ExpressCard’s, as they will not hit the market until 2011.

The best advice I can give you is spend wisely. If you are in the market for a new Bluetooth v2.0 Class 2 Mini USB Dongle, then the USB06C is the perfect choice.

Most laptops and computers already have Bluetooth built-in, but for those who do not, the only answer is to get yourself a Bluetooth dongle. The device is very simple to use, just install the software and then plug the device into a USB port. When you start the software up you will then be asked to look for Bluetooth devices, once you find a device just pair them up and you are ready to go.

Some of the features include, lightweight and mini design, Send and receive range: 20 m/65.61 ft and Multi-language support. The Bluetooth v2.0 Class 2 Mini USB Dongle - USB06C measures just 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.25-inches (L x W x H). Buy.com has this device on offer for just $12.99.

Thanks to an Engadget reader, we have learned that Apple’s iMac standard keyboard no longer comes with a numeric keypad.

This is the same design as the wireless model, which also lacks the numeric keypad. This wired version has USB plugs on each end. The old keyboard has not gone anywhere; you just have to make certain that you configure your new purchase when you make your order.

The upgrade is free, the new Mac Pro ships with the regular keypad. It is not certain why Apple have decided to change the keyboards, it just makes no sense at all, maybe they have done away with the numeric keypad for those who have a small desk at work.

The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse gets off to a good start, as the mouse has been developed by two medical universities in Holland. There have been extensive medical studies into the design of the mouse, so it shows that these guys truly wanted to give us a mouse that can actually help reduce the stress in our hands.

The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse allows you to place the whole palm of your hand on the ergonomic mouse, unlike other models where you have to cling to the mouse. The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse is not cheap though, the mouse will cost €120, that’s about $166.

Microsoft is to unveil their latest product line-up on September 9, hold on isn’t that the same date as Apple’s new product line-up.

Microsoft has launched a new tag today with the slogan “Say Goodbye to Laser.” I have to wonder what their next step will be with their Mice range.

It is still not certain if the new Mouse without a Laser will be part of the new product line-up from Microsoft, but it is a safe bet that it is.

I hope that there is someone out there reading this post with a bit of knowledge on this, as I am intrigued to know what Microsoft will be able to use to track the position of a Mouse instead of Laser.

I’m sitting here now about to type this post and I realize something, how ugly and boring my standard keyboard is. That got me to thinking that I need something with a bit of color to help brighten my day.

Crayola are known for their bold colors, so who would have thought that they had the perfect product not only to help brighten up your day but also make your kids experience on a computer more fun.

Here we have the Crayola EZ Type keyboard; I have to say that their aim of making typing fun has hit the mark. Ok I am joking about the part of me using the keyboard, but it is perfect for your children as it helps them gradually integrate to normal keyboard usage.

The bright colors of the keyboard certainly make the Crayola EZ Type keyboard child friendly. Color therapy has always been a great tool for children.

Logitech is now offering you its highest level of comfort with the introduction of the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro keyboard-and-mouse combination. The second-generation Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro combines the field- and laboratory-tested comfort of the Logitech Wave Keyboard with the exceptionally comfortable, rechargeable Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse. If you’re looking to upgrade your mouse only, a battery-powered version of the MX1100 mouse will be sold separately.

“Independent research clearly demonstrates that the Wave Keyboard can help improve the comfort of your typing experience,” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops. “The keyboard’s wave-like shape is popular because it provides comfort without requiring people relearn how to type, unlike traditional ergonomic keyboards. And with the addition of the MX1100 mouse, which was designed according to ergonomic principles, our new desktop gives you even more comfort than the original Logitech® Desktop Cordless Wave™.”

Wave Keyboard Improves Comfort - According to an independent study by Peter W. Johnson, Ph.D., of the University of Washington, the Logitech Wave Keyboard improves comfort. Combining three distinctive elements, the newest Logitech keyboard offers you an innovative wave key frame, a U-shaped constant curve and a cushioned, contoured palm rest. In comparison to ergonomic keyboards, you can use a Wave keyboard immediately – there is no learning curve. The Comfort Wave Design guides your hands and cradles your fingers to create a naturally comfortable typing experience.

MX1100 Cordless Laser Mouse - A perfect complement to the Wave keyboard, the MX1100 mouse is designed to support the naturally curved shape of your hand. Logitech’s newest mouse features an elegantly contoured, full-size shape that fits your hand for maximum comfort, providing exceptional palm support.

When sold in the desktop bundle, with its included USB plug, the MX1100 mouse allows you to fully recharge your mouse while you’re working – you don’t need to stop what you’re doing. A 15-minute charge gives you enough power for up to one day. A 7-hour charge provides up to six weeks of power. Or, for your convenience, plug the USB cable into the included AC adaptor and recharge your mouse using any available wall outlet. (When sold separately, the stand-alone MX1100 offers up to nine months of battery life and uses two AA batteries.)

The mouse’s MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel has two scrolling modes, including hyper-fast scrolling for flying effortlessly through long documents and Web pages. Eight programmable buttons allow you to get to the information, the Web pages, the files and the applications you want – fast. With software installed, a stealth thumb button makes application switching easy and zoom controls allow you to zoom in and out of documents with the press of a button. The mouse also features adjustable dpi (up to 1,600 dpi), which can come in handy when editing an image at the pixel level or, alternatively, when you need to move the cursor quickly within a document.

Logitech’s Advanced 2.4 GHz Wireless Technology - To give you a secure, reliable signal in a busy wireless environment, such as an office, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology dramatically reduces interference, effectively eliminating delays and dropouts. In fact, Logitech’s wireless technology exchanges data between the receiver and the mouse 300 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless mice – and 800 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless keyboards. Plus, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology provides 128-bit AES keyboard encryption for advanced security.

By optimizing the power management system, the improved wireless technology delivers a 3-year keyboard battery life – Logitech’s longest lasting – effectively eliminating the hassle of changing batteries.

Pricing and Availability - The Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning in October and in Europe beginning in mid-November for a suggested retail price of $129.99 (U.S.). When sold separately, the Logitech MX1100 Cordless Laser Mouse is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning in late August and in Europe beginning in mid-September for a suggested retail price of $79.99 (U.S.).

We already new that the new USB 3.0 would have a transfer rate of 4.8Gbps which is roughly ten-times faster than that of the current USB 2.0, we also know now that it will be much better in the way of power consumption.

PC Pro has said:

Intel has released a draft specification for the next iteration of the USB eXtensible Host Controller Interface

Those who joined Intel to form the USB 3 Promoter Group were HP, Microsoft, NEC, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments and their aim is to get USB 3.0 on the market as early as 2009.

Many people prefer a mouse to a touchpad but often leave the mouse behind when moving from room to room. Logitech is about to change all that with the introduction of the Logitech® V550 Nano cordless laser mouse for notebooks, featuring the Clip-and-Go dock. The unobtrusive dock lets you conveniently clip the V550 mouse to your laptop – and go.

“Logitech research revealed that the vast majority of people who use a notebook PC are mobile both within and outside the home,” said Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. “To meet the demands associated with increased mobility, the V550 mouse offers a complete set of features to make it easier to use a mouse with a notebook when moving from the kitchen to the living room or from one’s desk to a meeting. Now, you won’t have to choose between grabbing your mouse or a cup of coffee.”

Always ready for use, the V550 Nano also features the Plug-and-Forget Nano-receiver – it’s so small that once it’s plugged into your computer, you can forget about it. The Nano-receiver stays nearly flush against the side of the computer (protruding just 8 mm), so it doesn’t have to be unplugged when you stow your laptop.

With increased mobility comes increased concern about battery life. You don’t want to be caught out and about with a mouse that’s run out of power. The new V550 mouse offers up to 18 months of battery life and is the only Logitech cordless laser mouse currently offering this extended level of use. Plus, the V550 Nano saves additional power by automatically turning off when it’s docked or when the Nano-receiver is stored inside the mouse.

To enhance your productivity, the V550 mouse’s scroll wheel can spin freely to let you move quickly through long documents and Web pages. Or, by pressing down on the wheel, you can switch to click-to-click scrolling mode and scroll precisely through lists, slides or photos. In addition, the button directly below the scroll wheel allows you to switch between applications (after installing software available at no additional charge from www.logitech.com/downloads).

Because you often use your notebook in busy wireless environments, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology provides a powerful, reliable signal that effectively eliminates delays and dropouts. With its exceptionally robust signal, which exchanges data between the receiver and the mouse 300 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless mice, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology dramatically reduces interference.

The V550 Nano is offered in two colors – gray with silver accents and silver with cool-blue accents. And with the purchase of the new Logitech mouse, you’ll receive two Clip-and-Go docks – one silver, one black. An included setup kit makes it easy to install the dock, and to remove it, if necessary.

The new Logitech mouse is compatible with both PC and Mac® computers, and the Clip-and-Go dock is compatible with all notebook styles. For more information, visit www.logitech.com.

Pricing and Availability - The Logitech V550 Nano cordless laser mouse for notebooks is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in late August. The suggested retail price in the U.S. is $59.99. Read more Logitech news.

Logitech today announced the perfect keyboard to complement your Mac computer. The Logitech diNovo Edge, Mac Edition is the newest addition to Logitech’s line of award-winning diNovo keyboards and the first diNovo keyboard specially designed for the Mac.

“We’re truly delighted to offer discerning Mac enthusiasts our highest quality in keyboard design and performance,” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops. “From the piano-black finish to its built-in TouchDisc™ touch pad, the diNovo Edge can make it a pleasure for you to type, control music or launch your favorite applications.”

Since the introduction of the original diNovo™ Media Desktop® in 2004, Logitech’s diNovo line of distinctive keyboards has garnered many awards in response to its blend of design and performance. The newest diNovo keyboard is exceptionally thin (½ inch or 11.05 mm) with a high-gloss, semi-translucent Plexiglas® frame, sharp angles and soft-orange backlighting. The aluminum palm rest with anodized-silver finish looks good with any Mac computer, including the iMac® and the MacBook® Pro.

In addition to its design, the diNovo Edge, Mac Edition features optimized Mac keys for one-touch access to Mail, Safari™ and iTunes®, as well as many other Mac-specific applications. The new Logitech keyboard even offers a Power button that turns your Mac computer on and off, while the TouchDisc allows you to scroll and navigate from your keyboard. Moving a finger up and down or across the disc moves the cursor on the computer screen, and moving the finger in a circular motion around the perimeter of the TouchDisc enables you to scroll horizontally and vertically through documents. (Logitech Control Center software installation is required for some features.)

For a typing experience that’s comfortable, fluid and silent, the new Logitech keyboard features the Logitech PerfectStroke™ key system. PerfectStroke is designed to create longer key travel – 3.2 mm compared to 2.2 mm – than that of typical notebook keyboards, which means that the distance your fingers have to travel to activate a key is optimized for your comfort. And because micro-scissors distribute force evenly across key surfaces, even if you strike the edge of a key, the key stroke still feels the same.

An included charging base eliminates the hassle of changing batteries, with a four-hour charge giving you up to one month of battery life. A 10-minute power charge provides one day of use.

So you can get started right away, the new Logitech keyboard connects directly to a Mac computer through Bluetooth® wireless technology, providing a range of up to 30 feet.

Pricing and Availability - The Logitech diNovo Edge, Mac Edition cordless keyboard is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning this month. The suggested retail price in the U.S. is $159.99.
