Every five minutes there seems to be a company stating that they have developed an ergonomic mouse that will be less strenuous to use. The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse is one such mouse that boasts this, and from what we know, it looks as this could actually be the one that works.

The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse gets off to a good start, as the mouse has been developed by two medical universities in Holland. There have been extensive medical studies into the design of the mouse, so it shows that these guys truly wanted to give us a mouse that can actually help reduce the stress in our hands.

The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse allows you to place the whole palm of your hand on the ergonomic mouse, unlike other models where you have to cling to the mouse. The Hippus’ HandshoeMouse is not cheap though, the mouse will cost €120, that’s about $166.

Microsoft is to unveil their latest product line-up on September 9, hold on isn’t that the same date as Apple’s new product line-up.

Microsoft has launched a new tag today with the slogan “Say Goodbye to Laser.” I have to wonder what their next step will be with their Mice range.

It is still not certain if the new Mouse without a Laser will be part of the new product line-up from Microsoft, but it is a safe bet that it is.

I hope that there is someone out there reading this post with a bit of knowledge on this, as I am intrigued to know what Microsoft will be able to use to track the position of a Mouse instead of Laser.

I’m sitting here now about to type this post and I realize something, how ugly and boring my standard keyboard is. That got me to thinking that I need something with a bit of color to help brighten my day.

Crayola are known for their bold colors, so who would have thought that they had the perfect product not only to help brighten up your day but also make your kids experience on a computer more fun.

Here we have the Crayola EZ Type keyboard; I have to say that their aim of making typing fun has hit the mark. Ok I am joking about the part of me using the keyboard, but it is perfect for your children as it helps them gradually integrate to normal keyboard usage.

The bright colors of the keyboard certainly make the Crayola EZ Type keyboard child friendly. Color therapy has always been a great tool for children.

Logitech is now offering you its highest level of comfort with the introduction of the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro keyboard-and-mouse combination. The second-generation Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro combines the field- and laboratory-tested comfort of the Logitech Wave Keyboard with the exceptionally comfortable, rechargeable Logitech MX 1100 Cordless Laser Mouse. If you’re looking to upgrade your mouse only, a battery-powered version of the MX1100 mouse will be sold separately.

“Independent research clearly demonstrates that the Wave Keyboard can help improve the comfort of your typing experience,” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops. “The keyboard’s wave-like shape is popular because it provides comfort without requiring people relearn how to type, unlike traditional ergonomic keyboards. And with the addition of the MX1100 mouse, which was designed according to ergonomic principles, our new desktop gives you even more comfort than the original Logitech® Desktop Cordless Wave™.”

Wave Keyboard Improves Comfort - According to an independent study by Peter W. Johnson, Ph.D., of the University of Washington, the Logitech Wave Keyboard improves comfort. Combining three distinctive elements, the newest Logitech keyboard offers you an innovative wave key frame, a U-shaped constant curve and a cushioned, contoured palm rest. In comparison to ergonomic keyboards, you can use a Wave keyboard immediately – there is no learning curve. The Comfort Wave Design guides your hands and cradles your fingers to create a naturally comfortable typing experience.

MX1100 Cordless Laser Mouse - A perfect complement to the Wave keyboard, the MX1100 mouse is designed to support the naturally curved shape of your hand. Logitech’s newest mouse features an elegantly contoured, full-size shape that fits your hand for maximum comfort, providing exceptional palm support.

When sold in the desktop bundle, with its included USB plug, the MX1100 mouse allows you to fully recharge your mouse while you’re working – you don’t need to stop what you’re doing. A 15-minute charge gives you enough power for up to one day. A 7-hour charge provides up to six weeks of power. Or, for your convenience, plug the USB cable into the included AC adaptor and recharge your mouse using any available wall outlet. (When sold separately, the stand-alone MX1100 offers up to nine months of battery life and uses two AA batteries.)

The mouse’s MicroGear™ Precision Scroll Wheel has two scrolling modes, including hyper-fast scrolling for flying effortlessly through long documents and Web pages. Eight programmable buttons allow you to get to the information, the Web pages, the files and the applications you want – fast. With software installed, a stealth thumb button makes application switching easy and zoom controls allow you to zoom in and out of documents with the press of a button. The mouse also features adjustable dpi (up to 1,600 dpi), which can come in handy when editing an image at the pixel level or, alternatively, when you need to move the cursor quickly within a document.

Logitech’s Advanced 2.4 GHz Wireless Technology - To give you a secure, reliable signal in a busy wireless environment, such as an office, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology dramatically reduces interference, effectively eliminating delays and dropouts. In fact, Logitech’s wireless technology exchanges data between the receiver and the mouse 300 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless mice – and 800 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless keyboards. Plus, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology provides 128-bit AES keyboard encryption for advanced security.

By optimizing the power management system, the improved wireless technology delivers a 3-year keyboard battery life – Logitech’s longest lasting – effectively eliminating the hassle of changing batteries.

Pricing and Availability - The Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning in October and in Europe beginning in mid-November for a suggested retail price of $129.99 (U.S.). When sold separately, the Logitech MX1100 Cordless Laser Mouse is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning in late August and in Europe beginning in mid-September for a suggested retail price of $79.99 (U.S.).

We reported to a while back about USB 3.0 getting tested at CES 2008, well now we have the latest news that may interest you. Intel has just released USB 3.0 specifications.

We was all a little worried when Intel announced that they was going release a brand new USB as standard until we heard it was USB 3.0 and what its capabilities was. Yes being backward compatible is very interesting indeed but Intel’s latest announcement proves to be good.

We already new that the new USB 3.0 would have a transfer rate of 4.8Gbps which is roughly ten-times faster than that of the current USB 2.0, we also know now that it will be much better in the way of power consumption.

PC Pro has said:

Intel has released a draft specification for the next iteration of the USB eXtensible Host Controller Interface

Those who joined Intel to form the USB 3 Promoter Group were HP, Microsoft, NEC, NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments and their aim is to get USB 3.0 on the market as early as 2009.

Many people prefer a mouse to a touchpad but often leave the mouse behind when moving from room to room. Logitech is about to change all that with the introduction of the Logitech® V550 Nano cordless laser mouse for notebooks, featuring the Clip-and-Go dock. The unobtrusive dock lets you conveniently clip the V550 mouse to your laptop – and go.

“Logitech research revealed that the vast majority of people who use a notebook PC are mobile both within and outside the home,” said Rory Dooley, Logitech senior vice president and general manager of the Control Devices business unit. “To meet the demands associated with increased mobility, the V550 mouse offers a complete set of features to make it easier to use a mouse with a notebook when moving from the kitchen to the living room or from one’s desk to a meeting. Now, you won’t have to choose between grabbing your mouse or a cup of coffee.”

Always ready for use, the V550 Nano also features the Plug-and-Forget Nano-receiver – it’s so small that once it’s plugged into your computer, you can forget about it. The Nano-receiver stays nearly flush against the side of the computer (protruding just 8 mm), so it doesn’t have to be unplugged when you stow your laptop.

With increased mobility comes increased concern about battery life. You don’t want to be caught out and about with a mouse that’s run out of power. The new V550 mouse offers up to 18 months of battery life and is the only Logitech cordless laser mouse currently offering this extended level of use. Plus, the V550 Nano saves additional power by automatically turning off when it’s docked or when the Nano-receiver is stored inside the mouse.

To enhance your productivity, the V550 mouse’s scroll wheel can spin freely to let you move quickly through long documents and Web pages. Or, by pressing down on the wheel, you can switch to click-to-click scrolling mode and scroll precisely through lists, slides or photos. In addition, the button directly below the scroll wheel allows you to switch between applications (after installing software available at no additional charge from www.logitech.com/downloads).

Because you often use your notebook in busy wireless environments, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology provides a powerful, reliable signal that effectively eliminates delays and dropouts. With its exceptionally robust signal, which exchanges data between the receiver and the mouse 300 times faster than conventional 27 MHz wireless technologies for cordless mice, Logitech’s advanced 2.4 GHz wireless technology dramatically reduces interference.

The V550 Nano is offered in two colors – gray with silver accents and silver with cool-blue accents. Logitech today announced the perfect keyboard to complement your Mac computer. The Logitech diNovo Edge, Mac Edition is the newest addition to Logitech’s line of award-winning diNovo keyboards and the first diNovo keyboard specially designed for the Mac.

“We’re truly delighted to offer discerning Mac enthusiasts our highest quality in keyboard design and performance,” said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops. “From the piano-black finish to its built-in TouchDisc™ touch pad, the diNovo Edge can make it a pleasure for you to type, control music or launch your favorite applications.”

Since the introduction of the original diNovo™ Media Desktop® in 2004, Logitech’s diNovo line of distinctive keyboards has garnered many awards in response to its blend of design and performance. The newest diNovo keyboard is exceptionally thin (½ inch or 11.05 mm) with a high-gloss, semi-translucent Plexiglas® frame, sharp angles and soft-orange backlighting. The aluminum palm rest with anodized-silver finish looks good with any Mac computer, including the iMac® and the MacBook® Pro.

In addition to its design, the diNovo Edge, Mac Edition features optimized Mac keys for one-touch access to Mail, Safari™ and iTunes®, as well as many other Mac-specific applications. The new Logitech keyboard even offers a Power button that turns your Mac computer on and off, while the TouchDisc allows you to scroll and navigate from your keyboard. Moving a finger up and down or across the disc moves the cursor on the computer screen, and moving the finger in a circular motion around the perimeter of the TouchDisc enables you to scroll horizontally and vertically through documents. (Logitech Control Center software installation is required for some features.)

For a typing experience that’s comfortable, fluid and silent, the new Logitech keyboard features the Logitech PerfectStroke™ key system. PerfectStroke is designed to create longer key travel – 3.2 mm compared to 2.2 mm – than that of typical notebook keyboards, which means that the distance your fingers have to travel to activate a key is optimized for your comfort. And because micro-scissors distribute force evenly across key surfaces, even if you strike the edge of a key, the key stroke still feels the same.

An included charging base eliminates the hassle of changing batteries, with a four-hour charge giving you up to one month of battery life. A 10-minute power charge provides one day of use.

So you can get started right away, the new Logitech keyboard connects directly to a Mac computer through Bluetooth® wireless technology, providing a range of up to 30 feet.

Pricing and Availability - The Logitech diNovo Edge, Mac Edition cordless keyboard is expected to be available in the U.S. beginning this month. The suggested retail price in the U.S. is $159.99.

There is no denying that one of the sexiest Bluetooth keyboards has to be the Logitech diNovo Edge. This however has only been available for Windows users that is until now. There is now a Mac version.

Now Mac users will be able to get their hands on this keyboard that has a smooth circular-scrolling track pad, with its orange-backlit keys along with its slick dock / charging cradle.

There is nothing new on the Mac version of the Logitech diNovo Edge, although the price is now a little lower, but $159 is still a lot to pay.

I have always had one problem with this keyboard though, the Caps Lock key. Logitech go through all the trouble of designing the diNovo to look as sleek as possible and then they go make a mistake like this.

With standard keyboards you have a gap between the Caps Lock and the A; this stops you from accidental presses. On the Logitech diNovo Edge there is no such gap, so you might put the Caps Lock on by mistake.

With the latest launch Das Keyboard it promises the best typing experience with an extra long 6.6 foot USB cable, a glossy black surface with blue LEDs, two USB 2.0 ports and gold-plated mechanical key switches. View the press release below for the latest information.

Austin, TX – July 14, 2008 – Das Keyboard (www.daskeyboard.com), a division of Metadot Corporation renowned for its completely blank keyboards, announced today the release of two new and totally redesigned keyboard models – the Professional and the Ultimate. Both models sport German-engineered, gold-plated mechanical key switches, but unlike its sibling the Das Keyboard Ultimate which is completely blank, the Professional has the traditional QWERTY markings on its keys.

Incorporating the industry’s highest keyboard standards with the best key switches money can buy, the Das Keyboard Ultimate and Professional are designed to make typing more comfortable and satisfying by providing a completely unique touch and feel experience.

“If you spend eight hours a day typing on a keyboard, it might as well be on a keyboard that offers the best typing experience possible,” Daniel Guermeur, creator of Das Keyboard and CEO of Metadot Corporation said. “The Das Keyboard was designed for discriminating users who appreciate comfort and quality and are tired of mushy, unresponsive, five-dollar keyboards.”

Setting the Das Keyboards apart from standard keyboards, the mechanical key switches create a distinct “click” with each keystroke and make the typing experience more crisp, decisive and fast.

“Das Keyboard is a ‘clicky’ keyboard that’s surprisingly addictive,” TechRevu editor Ernest Lilley recently stated in a review of the Das Keyboard Professional (http://www.techrevu.com/php/Review-id.php?id=2405). “Built on über-high quality Cherry micro-switches that you can really bang down on, the positive feel of this minimalist keyboard is sure to delight serious keyboarders….”

Both the Professional and Ultimate are available in the U.S. at daskeyboard.com for $129.00

Logitech as we know always seems to be at the forefront in mouse design technology, speaking from a personal experience it seems that no one comes close to their mouse designs. Tweaktown realize this which is why they have decided to do a hands on review of the new Logitech MX Air Cordless Mouse, which is being described as an evolution.

When you first take the Logitech MX Air Cordless Mouse from the box you know that you have purchased something special, and the black glossy finish mixed with hints of silver gives it a sexy sleek look. As you know when Logitech launch a new mouse you know that there will be a host of improvements over their previous model and the MX Air Cordless Mouse will no disappoint.

As our computers are a complete home entertainment system it seemed natural for Logitech to add a quick launch system for Windows Media Player or Media Center, all you need to do is give the mouse a quick shake, ingenious.

Tweaktown’s final thought on the Logitech MX Air Cordless Mouse are “As expected, this is a mouse with a lot to live up to. Logitech has a history of pumping out products that people buy en-mass, and the MX Air is another one that will be finding its way into living rooms thanks to the popularity of HTPCs.

Speaking of home theatres, this mouse has a few more surprises in store for us, such as the ability to open Windows Media Player or Media Center by shaking the mouse (also available is a customisable menu allowing you to add any files/folders/programs you want) or adjusting the volume by holding the Volume and moving the mouse side to side.

The only final gripe I have about the mouse is that it dims its on-board lights after several seconds, indicating that it has entered sleep mode to save power. While this is a really great power saving feature for a wireless mouse, its drawback comes when you disturb the rodent from its slumber; it takes almost a second to register movement on the screen. This can be annoying when it occurs repeatedly, like right now while I’m typing and editing this review.

There is one thing that will hold the mouse back from flying off the shelves in my opinion, and that is the price. Logitech has put this mouse in their luxury range, and with a suitable luxury price tag; a tad too rich from most people’s tastes, I can believe.

However, looking at the components present I think the price is justified to a degree; we have a pair of RF transceivers capable of up to 30m range, 3-axis accelerometers, lithium ion battery to save weight and add battery life, and finally the laser tracking module for the precision desk work. Combined with a sexy design and solid software/firmware, it’s easy to imagine how the cost adds up pretty fast.

The good points however far outweigh the bad here; this mouse is amazing once you get it house trained! - I’m always using it now on the sofa when I’m watching movies because it’s just so much fun to use every time I pick it up. If you have the money, or don’t have the money because you just built a HTPC, take a loan or borrow it from your friends, because this rodent is the perfect accessory to complete that sweet living room setup”

If you have a laptop without a webcam, the best thing for you to get is one that will just sit nicely on top of your notebook screen. However somebody forgot to tell the company who made this USB Webcam.

Why would you want to use a webcam with a huge suction cup that will have to waste a huge portion of your screen? And you know how strong some of those suction cups can be, there will be a number of people with a weird bulging shape on their laptop screens.

I am sure that the USB webcam was not made to stick on your notebook screen, however where else could you stick it as you need a smooth flat surface. Waste of time if you ask me.

Many off you may think that the USBee Flash Memory Drive design is a little to weird but we say get some glasses because we love it, it is not only different but the whole design is unique with some clever things going on.

The name for starters is a little wacky but makes sense considering the way it looks, ok this is only a concept but should be pretty easy to make it reality. The eye catching USBee is clever because unlike normal USB thumb drives they can sometime break when putting in or out of computers but this one will not because it is flexible.

The USBee has a clever combination of aluminium and silicon shell and this is where it becomes flexible, it also has a clever ventilation system to prevent it from heating up.

Now this is what we like a good pro keyboard and mouse, BTC (Behaviour Tech Computer Corp) have the 9051H Cheetah keyboard and mouse combo which in many peoples eyes will say it looks horrible but I beg to dither on this and say it looks brilliant, but then they do say the proof is in the pudding and one can only tell when it is in ones hands.

The keyboard does have the right oriented FPS key cluster and a clever little system where the backlit keys can change color dependant on typing speeds.

The keyboards comes with a normal looking mouse with variable DPI (800, 1300, and 2000) and two programmable buttons, oh and as usual there is no word on pricing nor availability as of yet.
