RIM launched their latest Smartphone in the U.S. yesterday; the BlackBerry Storm is another handset being hailed as a rival to the iPhone. One thing is certain early sales shows that the Storm has gotten off to a much better start than the T-Mobile G1.

Mercury News reports that there were long lines at a number of Verizon Wireless stores, with some of those stores actually selling out of the BlackBerry Storm. Certain stores along the east coast had at least 150 shoppers queuing up to get their hands on the latest iPhone rival.

The T-Mobile G1 was the first handset to use the Google Android software, and was being hailed as a rival to the iPhone, and many assumed that sales would be huge. The G1 is a very capable phone, but it did not live up to all that hype. It shows that the BlackBerry Storm is more competition for the Apple iPhone than any other phone on the market that is evident in the marketing campaign.

Now we want to know what is the real deal between RIM and Apple, what we mean is the fact that Verizon is releasing its BlackBerry Storm today and Apple has just released its new iPhone 2.2 software update, is there a plan or is it just coincidental.

Now we want to know about our readers and which one you will be doing today, will you be getting your Verizon BlackBerry Storm today or will you be playing around with your Apple iPhone after you have installed the all new 2.2 update?.

Are you an Apple iPhone user in America thinking about going over to the BlackBerry Storm? Just seems a little weird how Apple decided to release the 2.2 update today when they could have released it yesterday.

We are hearing reports that the new BlackBerry storm phones may come without the latest software upgrade. Blackberry forums have advised customers to check around every so often in case new changes are made. Alternatively, Wirelessandmobilenews have listed some steps for you to follow which will aid you in case you are not sure.

The website advises you to firstly check for any updates, and then run any drivers when prompted and from there you just select run to begin the update process if you need one. As always though, when you start your update do not unplug or cancel your update, as this may lead to problems with your phone.

Keep checking this site for the latest news on the new BlackBerry as we will be reporting on first impressions on the phone. Let us know if you have any update issues by leaving a comment below.

A new video which was taken at the Adobe MAX conference has showed the T-Mobile G1 with Flash 10 running on it which means good news for all you owners out there.

In the demo shown, it displayed interactivity, full zooming and panning on the G1, so it appears that Google phone users will not have to wait as long as some of the other phones out on the market. At the moment Apple’s iPhone is not able to view Flash, and there has been no word on support for BlackBerry either.

If you would like to read the whole story, head over to Phonesreview, where you can also view the video. Flash 10 support will open up all sorts of possibilities for users no doubt, what are your views on this story? Leave your comments below.

The official launch date in selected markets for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is fast approaching, and it seems the price confusion has left many with a sour taste in their mouth. It is this price confusion that could affect the sale of the new Nokia handset.

Those potential buyers in Spain were not happy with the thought of paying EUR 429, instead of the promised EUR 279. So we are left with the question “Why a higher price.” Eldar Murtazin from Mobile Review has now resolved the mystery over the price confusion of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

Murtazin has been speaking to his sources over at Nokia, where they state that the base price for the 5800 should still be EUR 279 before subsidies and tax. Nokia did add that each country is free to offer a number of bundle choices, which will affect the price of the handset.

The LG Prada II has a 3-inch 400 x 240 pixel multi-touch display, 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, HSDPA, WiFi, and quad-band GSM connectivity. The cool looking Prada Link Bluetooth watch can sync to your LG Prada II handset.

Once synced, the watch will be able to show you your incoming calls and text messages. As yet there are still no details on pricing or a release date. One thing is certain, LG know that they have a nice phone on their hands, perfect for those who wish to look like a celebrity.

If you were to go back just five years ago our cell phones were only capable of making calls and sending text messages. There were a few other features on our handsets, but they were still in their basic form. When it comes to technology evolution, cell phones are evolving faster than we ever imagined.

We have always known that computer technology moves at a fast rate, but the only thing that ever changes is the speed and efficiency of them. With a cell phone it is much different than that, yes phones are getting faster at their tasks, but it is all the features that they can do which keeps consumers amazed.

When it comes to phone brands there are just a handful that stand out above the rest. These include Apple, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. I have left out Motorola for a good reason, although they do produce great phones, they do not amaze us with technology packed features.

These seven phone manufactures certainly break the boundaries in the technology that they use. The phones that stand out above the rest from these phone makers are the Apple iPhone 3G, BlackBerry Bold, Curve and Storm, HTC T-Mobile G1 Google Android and Touch Pro, LG KP500 Cookie and Incite, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Samsung Behold T919 and the Eternity A867, i907 Epix and finally the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1.

Many of these phones share the same sort of technology, such as touchscreen, as well as Wi-Fi capabilities. Some go even further than that by offering up apps, the use of adding new applications to a phone will help the handset become far more than it ever was when you first removed it from the box.

It seems that every new cell phone that’s released has a touch screen interface and this might be to meet the demand of consumers who want these next generation features on phones, but they do have their problems.

Millions of phone buyers have never owned a touch screen phone and want to experience it, they do have so many advantages but with all technology, the more advanced it gets the more problems you end up having.

Some of the latest touchscreen phones include the iPhone 3G, BlackBerry Storm and LG Incite. Personally using the iPhone for a while I can confirm that its touch screen is both revolutionary and a pain at times. Apple iPhone owners, has your cheek ever turned the loudspeaker on?

You may not need a touch screen phone, but one day you may have no choice with more and more phones having them. Touch screens are also a lot harder to use for texting and email, there is no tactile feedback like on normal cell phones

If you love watching videos and movies on the move then the large touch screen is a must, but watch out for the screen scratching easily.

What do you love and hate about touch screen phones and do you own one?

The lead-up to the launch of the Blackberry Storm in the UK and U.S has been massively publicized and last weekend was the first with Blackberry’s first touch screen in consumer hands, well that’s the idea.

The reality was thousands of BlackBerry Storm chasers not finding the latest Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM) phone in smaller Vodafone stores, but instead ended up with a choice from the BlackBerry Curve, Pearl or Bold.

This may not be a surprise to many who have experienced Apple iPhone release days, it’s common for demand to be more than is possible to make and with the Storm being marketed very well, we expect shortages. Although Vodafone said it was a “logistic problem” why smaller stores did not get any of the 70,000 Blackberry Storm’s ordered.

Did you manage to buy RIM’s latest handset?

RIM’s latest handset the BlackBerry 8350i is to be released on Sprint, but finding the release date and price has been very hard to come by. Many future owners were hoping that they will be able to get their hands on the iDEN-powered BlackBerry before the end of the year.

Thankfully Engadget Mobile might just be able to give us some insight. Sprint are to launch the BlackBerry 8350i on December 1, so you had better consider if this is the phone for you fast, as it looks all set to be a great seller.

The suggested retail price of the BlackBerry 8350i is $479.99, less a 2-year $150 rebate, then take of the instant rebate, then a mail-in rebate. The final price should be $149.99. That is not a bad final price, much lower than some of the other new cell phones hitting the market.

Other networks such as Verizon will be feeling a little jealous right now, but come Friday they will not care, as the will have the BlackBerry Storm. I have to admit, the HTC Touch Pro will turn a few heads with its sleek and sexy design.

The new handset does come at a price though, and a high one at that. The HTC Touch Pro will cost $239.95, about $195. That price is for a three-year contract that is a huge price to pay for such a long contract.

Samsungs new phone, the Tobi S3030 will be aimed squarely at young adults and children in a bid to offer a phone which will hopefully boost its popularity with a young audience.

They said the Tobi will give users a fun and safe experience with the phone, and it will be offered in a variety of 6 colours and the phones body is made out of biodegradable and recyclable plastic. As for the phones list of features, it isn’t too overwhelming but there are some interesting ones such as SOS Message, SOS Call and Fake Call. It will come with a 1.3mp camera, Bluetooth USB 2.0 and with 15mb internal memory with a micro SD slot if you wish to add more storage.

If you are interested in this phone, look out for it in retailers in the UK this month, and it will be released in Europe and China shortly. What do you make of Samsung’s move to create a phone for kids?

We have fresh details on Toshiba’s nifty little device the G450 as it is now out in some parts of Europe. In case you didn’t know, this tool has the ability to perform as a modem, an mp3 player, usb dongle, and a phone! Read on for more details.

IntoMobile has posted a hands on with the device as they give out details about all its features and how well it performs as a multi-functional device. When they tested out the modem’s capabilities, they said that it reached up to 2.7Mbps on O2’s UK network, and performed well when using the internet.

Its USB facility offers up to 160mb of storage for you to use, while its other main function, being a phone performed well as a ‘backup’. Its music feature offered playback including all the usual formats too, but 160mb wasnt ideal for putting a lot of content on. They concluded that Toshiba’s device was excellent, and was a good value for £140 considering all the features within.

Over the past year we have seen the launch of many cell phones, such as the Apple iPhone 3G, T-Mobile G1, BlackBerry Storm, and the latest to join the party is the LG Incite from AT&T. All of these have one thing in common, they have a touch screen.

Having a touch screen on a cell phone is obviously the future, as these new handset have now taken on a complete new look. The first touchscrren handset I had was the LG Viewty, at the time it was good, but now I have the iPhone I can now see how unresponsive the phone was.

As we know the Apple iPhone was the first serious handset with a touch screen, but many say that the lack of feedback is a downside. Other new phones like the BlackBerry Storm have included feedback as you type, it is that responsive feel that gives the user more confidence when using the handset.

The T-Mobile G1 has a touch screen as well as a QUERTY keyboard, which many users prefer when typing. I hope that the next Apple iPhone will have a haptic touch screen, but then again the battery life is bad enough as it is.

Do you prefer cell phones with or without a touchscreen?

The Canadian BlackBerry designer company Research in Motion has said that it hopes to avoid previous mistakes in wireless technology by incorporating 4G into their products when it comes available.

Reports suggest that the company have assigned a team to specifically build a Smartphone capable of higher internet speeds using the Long Term Evolution (LTE) which is standard within most North American carriers.

Expect news of this phone to emerge once the 4G service is announced properly. Phone operators Verizon, Bell and T-Mobile are hoping to launch their first LTE networks in 2010. It is clear that BlackBerry hope to turn the market towards their favour in coming years as recently they have been outsold by Apple’s iPhone.

More news on the BlackBerry Storm now, as it looks as if Canadian networks Bell and Telus are going to go head to head, and release the BlackBerry storm on the same day when it is released shortly.

This will mean customers will have to make a choice to see which network they prefer, and it’s no doubt that each company will try and persuade its customers by offering various deals and incentives.

A memo was sent to all Bell retail managers informing them that Telus will be releasing the Storm on the same day as them, thus prompting mandatory training for all employees. Reports suggest that the phone will go on release in Canada on the 10th December.

Stay tuned and we will keep you updated if there are any changes regarding release dates. Follow the link for more information.

There was a big media interest when Sony launched their XPERIA phone back in February. A few month on though, and Sony have released their most useful Smartphone on the market, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1.

There are a lot of features that this phone is able to, but we would like to show you some of the main advantages and disadvantages of the X1 so you know a bit more about the phone. To start off, the operating system of the phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 professional, and naturally with this comes a fast processor and plenty of RAM for you to use, so you will be able to perform many tasks at once.

Other main good points about this phone is its impressive 800 x 480 pixels display, which will come in handy when taking pictures with the 3.2mp camera or taking clips with the VGA recorder. You wont have to worry about battery life either, as that is another strong point about the phone and you’ll be able to store lots on content thanks to the 4gb MicroSD card included. With plenty of connectivity options and software to use, this is a phone that is jam packed with features.

A few disadvantages with the phone could be the lack of official support for Flash in the phones Opera Browser. A lot of customers out like to watch a lot of flash content these days, so that could be one improvement they could make. You would also expect a TV-out port when running Windows related software, as with all the features on the phone, it would be nice to view some of the phones content on a big screen. Some other users may complain about its overall weight and price tag you’ll need to pay if you pick up the phone.

Whether you are more business orientated or not, this phone will appeal to a lot of you, simply due to its stylish look, and feel. It is one of Sony’s top of the range phones, so you would expect it to be one of the best. You can read the full review in the link below, where you’ll also find a lot of pictures of the Xperia X1 in action.

Google’s new voice-enabled search application was meant go live on the Apple App store on Friday, but as you’ve probably heard, It never went up on the store because Apple themselves forgot about it.

We reported earlier about the iPhone Google voice-powered search and asked where is it? Following on from that post, this is a strange thing to happen after having a big launch on Friday, only to have Apple ruin the party. This is surely quite embarrassing from Google’s point of view, if you consider the fact that they decided to launch the App on the iPhone first rather than its own Android platform.

At the moment, only the old version of the app without voice features is available and it is unclear when Apple is going to respond to the news and put the new app up on its store. Apple really screwed up with amazing app in our opinion, this application will sell tons of iPhones and it’s been treated just like any other app.

Google’s iPhone app will take your speech and within seconds send a sound file to Google’s servers and return the search results. This is revolutionary and takes browsing the web on your mobile phone to another level, but Apple should of pushed this app through for Friday? (Google’s press day).

Let us know what you think of this mess and who is to blame for the late launch?
