Ronn Motors Scorpion runs on hydrogen & gasoline

Ronn Motors looks as if they are about to please two types of people, firstly drivers who love speed and secondly people who care a little for the environment.
Ronn Motors have developed the Scorpion, which has huge amounts of power but does not produce as much emissions as other supercars. The Scorpion is both clean and fast; this is thanks to the car using a mix of hydrogen and gasoline.
According to Bornrich, the engine used in the Scorpion is a 3.5-liter, six-cylinder VTEC engine from Acura. The engine usually pushes out 280hp, but thanks to twin turbos this is bumped up to 450hp. The hydrogen fuelled engine is connected to an on-demand hydrogen system, this then breaks down the molecules and holds them in a non-pressurized tank. This system does without the need for a hydrogen refueling station.

30 to 40 percent of that hydrogen then gets mixed with standard gasoline; this allows the Scorpion to achieve 40mpg.
The Ronn Motors Scorpion weighs 2,100 pound and will go from 0-60 in just 3.5 seconds.
If you love speed and also care for the environment then I hope you have deep pockets, as the Scorpion will set you back $150,000.

Porsche based GT9: details and pricing

I was one of those who thought that the Bugatti Veyron would always be the ultimate supercar, but I was mistaken as the Porsche-based GT9 will have enough power to make the Veyron seem slow.
Not only does the GT9 have the power but it also has the looks, this is thanks to the work by German tuner 9ff.
The tuner has been developing the GT9 for many years, but this is the first time that we have been able to give you details and pricing of the supercar.
The front of the car looks much like a 911 GT3, but the chassis used is very different as it has been constructed from carbon and kevlar fibre, this is lightweight but very strong.
The GT9 sits low at just 1.18 metres tall; the bodykit makes the car look low to the ground. Both of these features help the car achieve a top speed of 254mph, that’s just 1mph more than the Bugatti Veyron.
The engine used is a from the 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo however; this powerplant has seen an upgrade. The turbos have been reworked; there is a gold-finished induction plate as well as dry sump lubrication.
All of this helps the engine push out 973bhp and a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds.
There will only be 20 of these GT9’s made, with a price tag of £394,000.

Ferrari Enzo successor will be their lightest and quickest supercar

It seems that the guys over at Maranello have their work cut out for them, as they are now working on a successor to the Ferrari Enzo. Everybody knows just how jaw dropping the Enzo was in looks and performance, and Ferrari have said that this successor will be their lightest and fastest two-seater super they have ever developed. It seems that Ferrari are now thinking how other car makers have been doing for years “Less is More.”
Ferrari has had to respond to the current environment issues, and have now been working hard to improve fuel economy by 40 percent as well as reducing emissions by 25 percent. These are uncharted waters for the Italian automaker; they have always gone for faster cars while fuel efficiency has always seemed to suffer. Well it seems that the guys over at Maranello have found a way to do this without compromising its reputation for performance, it seems that we are about to see a greener Ferrari.
As yet Ferrari have not given the Mini Enzo a name but what we do know is, it will arrive in 2010 and will have a 600-horsepower engine and will only weigh 2,200 pounds, that is 660 pounds lighter than the Enzo. As yet people have no idea as to what the new Ferrari will look like, but many assume that it could take some of its styling features of the picture above.
The new car will have an aluminum space frame, and it is thought that the Ferrari V10 engine will be used. Figures say that the new Ferrari will go from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.65 seconds, and should be able to reach a top speed of 225 mph (362 kph). As the car is so light, it should have one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any car on the road. As you would expect this will not come cheap, there will only be 300 made and is expected to cost at least $500,000.
$117,000 for 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: most expensive GM model
June 17, 2008
Filed under Autos, Coupe Cars, Supercars

Well it is now official, GM and Corvette have just released details of how much the new 2009 Corvette ZR1 will cost. You had better sit down because the cost of the sports coupe will have a starting price of $103,300. However; you then have to consider that you have to pay an extra $1,700 Gas guzzler tax, if you are bored with the standard rims then you can upgrade to chrome wheels, this comes at a cost of $2000.
If you want to upgrade to a different option package then you only have a choice of one, the package costs $10,000 and with that you get Bluetooth, Bose audio, leather-wrapped interior, nav system and power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. With all these extras included the total price comes to $117,000. Autoblog believe that the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has to be one of the most expensive models that General Motors has ever produced.
So what exactly are you getting on this car with a huge price tag? Well firstly the engine is something special a 638-hp lump. The car will go from 0 to 60 in just 3.4 seconds and will max out at 205 mph. Now comes the bad part, fuel consumption, 14 mpg city and 20 mpg highway.
Other cars in the market range have better fuel efficient figures like the Porsche GT3 and the Dodge Viper, but then again they are not as powerful. Ok so the Porsche is also more expensive, but my money would be on the GT3 when it comes to getting round a track quicker.
Controversial Jaguar TV campaign to Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Drifting

Do you remember a few years back when the new Jaguar XK came out, the company launched an ad campaign which critics had to question. The message in the ad was subtle, where is showed that older men were able to have fun with ladies of a younger age. Well it seems as if Lamborghini have learned from that Jag ad and taken their ad for the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 a little further. The ad was shot in downtown Los Angeles, where you could see the supercar drifting around on the roads.
This car shows you what the car can do, but I also love the messages that the new ad gives, about what will happen when you drive around in the vehicle. It shows that if you were to drive the Gallardo LP560-4, then it will help you collect the names and phone numbers of tall brunettes, now I have to get one. The ad also puts the message across that if you own one of these Italian supercars, then you will be guaranteed access to all the trendy bars in town.
Also in the video you get two see two Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4’s facing up against each other, one black and the other white, it’s as if two bull’s are facing up for a fight. The two cars then drive out of LA and then start on their long journey on long winding roads, just to show you how well they handle.
The ad is pure genius, check it out below.
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano catches fire: from supercar to hotrod

When we think of Ferrari we think of supercars that has that certain sex appeal, no one makes a fast car quite like the Italians. However it seems as if the prancing horse has a little issue with catching fire, the car this time was a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano which self-ignited when it came to a stop. I would hate to be in the driver’s shoes right now, as it was not even his car. The car was being driven by a worker for Romans International supercar garage in Banstead, UK, while he was driving the dream machine he could hear a strange sound coming from the rear, which was quickly followed by a huge amount of smoke and then the fire.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano worth £250,000 is now a write-off, thankfully though the Ferrari was still covered under its warranty. However, this is no consolation to Ferrari owners around the world who must now be wondering if their prized possession will catch alight. You would think that a company like Ferrari would never suffer from any such problem like this, the worrying this is there have been a number of documented cases of these supercars catching fire. I do not understand why Ferrari has not found out why this is happening, many believe that the engine is overheating. Ferrari run one off, if not the best Formula 1 teams so you would have thought that they would have solved this issue by now.
9ff GT9 Based on the Porsche 911 GT3 hits (409 km/h) 253 mph

As you know when it comes to fast cars Porsche is one of the best machines on the road, but when it comes to über-fast supercars the German automaker has not had anything to handle the onslaught from others like the Bugatti Veyron and the Koenigsegg CCX as well as the new supercar king the SSC Aero Twin-Turbo. Well it looks as though there is now a Porsche that might be able to take the fight to these mentally fast vehicles, the 9ff GT9 is sadly not a car directly made by Porsche it has been based on the Porsche 911 GT3, although the chassis is about a foot longer.

The 9ff GT9 has managed to hit 409 km/h that’s a mental 253 mph, this is been done with the help of the twin-turbo 4.2-liter flat-6 which pushes out a massive 987bhp. We are not sure if this is the best speed that the 9ff GT9 can manage or wheather the vehicle has a little more left to try and make the other über-fast supercars look over their shoulder. I reckon that the super Porsche 911 GT3 still has a little more to give, and I bet it would outperform the Bugatti Veyron, as it looks a lot lighter and more agile. Who just wants a car that is fast in a straight line, its all bout the handling and quick it can get you around a race track.

RWD Lamborghini Murcielago SV Spy Shots: to debut at Paris Motor Show?

Remember when Lamborghini promised that they would launch a new model at every major motor show this year, well it seems like the Italian Supercar maker is trying to live up to their promise.
Thanks to Autocar they believe that they have a spy shot of what they think is the new Lamborghini Murcielago SV. This car is based on the top of the range LP640, the SV has a mid-mounted V12 engine and will push our 680HP to its rear wheels, that right it is a RWD.
The car will be very light just 3,500 pounds, Lamborghini have worked so hard to try and save weight and one of the major weight savings is by doing away with power to the front wheels so no need for a front drive shaft and front differential.
Lamborghini have not let slip when the new Murcielago SV will debut, however Autocar believe that we could see this supercar at this years Paris Motor Show.
