iOTA One 10.1-Inch 2-in-1 Tablet with Keyboard review

By Alan Ng - Jun 29, 2017

For those that continue to love Windows 10 above all other operating systems and are in need of a cheap tablet that can perform simple tasks, we have a new tablet to review for you now by taking a look at the iOTA One 10.1-Inch 2-in-1 Tablet with Keyboard.

Having a tablet with a connected keyboard instantly opens up the product to those who like to combine work with pleasure and you’ll be pleased to know that a keyboard case comes inside the box with this product.

Obviously there are a lot more premium products on the market such as the Microsoft Surface, so many of you will be looking for cheaper options and the iOTA One may be a good choice for you.

Design:

The iOTA One is not particularly lightweight at 1.09 kg but then again for the low costs involved you have to consider what you are getting in the overall package. Connectivity is good with Micro HDMI, Micro USB Port and two USB Ports included on top of Bluetooth support. It is very easy to connect up the keyboard accessory making it extremely convenient when travelling on a train or plane and you quickly need to get some work tasks done when you have a few hours to spare. When in tablet mode there are some helpful physical buttons on the back of the tablet which will give you quick access to the Windows Home button, power and volume settings.

 Specs:

It features a 10.1-inch IPS HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor.  On top of that, there is 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and room to expand upon this further with MicroSD which can offer an extra 64 GB.

Elsewhere you have a basic set of cameras on the rear and on the front but don’t expect anything spectacular in terms of quality. The rear sensor is only 2MP and the front webcam is only 2MP as well, but then again you won’t be buying this tablet to take pictures primarily so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Battery Life:

This is definitely one of the strong points of the tablet in our opinion. Even for it’s low cost, a 7,000mAh is more than enough power to get most of your tasks done in keyboard mode. Even if you are using it as a tablet to watch movies, we managed to get around 6 to 7 hours on a full charge which isn’t bad at all and certainly adequate for a road trip, or if you are handing the tablet to your children to keep them occupied for a few hours.

Our thoughts:

The iOTA One comes with a full version of Windows 10 as you would expect from using the software on PC, you are just doing everything on a much smaller screen. Cortana is set up and ready to go as soon as you boot up the tablet and you’ll also want to activate the tablet mode when the keyboard is not attached which you can do by clicking the icon in the bottom right corner as seen in the image below. Tablet mode will give you a much more visual friendly experience when you just want to sit back and watch some Netflix or play games from the Windows Store. Although the specs are not high end, for the selling price of £160 you are not going to be getting top of the range features. What you do get though is a fully functional Windows 10 tablet with a free keyboard inside the box that is perfect for handling small tasks on the go when you are outside of the home. We took our iOTA One on the train and it was the perfect size for firing out a few emails and getting some work done in a confined space.

Price and where to buy the iOTA One:

This tablet is not going to play the latest high end games, so you need to be aware of what you are buying. For £159.99 at Amazon though (a £30 discount) which is the best price currently, you will do hard to find a similarly priced tablet with the same specs that comes with a free keyboard accessory – click here to buy yours now whilst stocks last.

If you pick up the iOTA One with the sole purpose of having a spare computer for travelling, you will not be disappointed as we certainly were not. We also have to mention that inside the box, you get a UK and a EU power adapter which we thought was a very nice touch!
