FIFA 18 Nintendo Switch features missing vs PS4, Xbox One

By Alan Ng - Jun 12, 2017

If you haven’t heard, FIFA 18 is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This is obviously great news but at the same time it will unfortunately be coming with less features compared to the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

We wanted to give you a concrete breakdown now of some of these features that you won’t see on the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

No Frostbite engine: This is obviously the major one for most, as EA has revealed that the Nintendo Switch version is built on a custom engine and not the Frostbite engine which PS4 and Xbox One owners will get.

No Journey Mode on Nintendo Switch: FIFA 18 won’t be featuring the Journey if you buy it on this platform as this was a mode built specifically on Frostbite.

No Crowd Celebrations: Another byproduct of the Frostbite engine meaning that it won’t be available on the Switch version.

No FUT Champions on Nintendo Switch: While you will be very pleased to hear that there will be Ultimate Team on Switch with most of its core features including portable FUT pack opening, unfortunately EA has confirmed that the Switch version will not contain FUT Champions.

No new animations every frame: The PS4 and Xbox One versions will enjoy a new animation every frame with FIFA 18, but this won’t be on the Switch version as the game will use normal animations instead.

No Quick Substitutions: Another feature that won’t make it into the Switch version, at launch anyway are quick substitutions. So if this is a feature you enjoy, you may want to opt for PS4 or Xbox One instead.

These are all we have at the moment, but if we discover any more in the build-up to launch we will add them in.
