We know many of you can’t wait to see Red Dead Redemption 2, with a release date confirmed by Rockstar for Fall 2017. Since the initial teaser trailer we have not heard a lot about the game but we do have some comments from Take Two to share now, with regards to how Red Dead Redemption 2’s online mode will work along side GTA Online.
GTA Online has turned into something of a phenomenon, more so recently after it was announced that there had been records broken in terms of players still actively playing GTA V despite the game launching way back in 2013.
Now Take Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has said that there is no danger of Red Dead Redemption 2 overshadowing GTA Online when it comes to the new online mode that has been confirmed for RDR 2.
When speaking in a recent investor’s call he said:
I don’t think there’s any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases apart from the fact that our success is driven by quality. So, I think, the success of Red Dead, which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality. And I think the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto Online is driven by its extraordinary quality”.
It’s going to be interesting for sure to see if there’s still an active GTA Online player base when it comes to Fall this year and the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Take-Two are obviously remaining very confident, but personally will you be saying goodbye to GTA Online when RDR 2 hits the shops?
If you want to pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2, Amazon is offering it right now for £45.99 which is a nice price so far away from launch.
