Nintendo has problems keeping up with NES Classic Edition stock demands both in the UK and USA, although they aren’t the only brand having issues meeting demand, especially if you look at other popular toys and tech products before Christmas. These include Hatchimals, PlayStation VR, My Friend Pikachu, and Build-A-Bear Stuffing Station to name a few.
Exactly why people latch onto certain products isn’t always clear, but for Christmas 2016, there’s a larger number of “Must-Have” products that you will really struggle to find stock. In regard to finding the NES Classic Edition in stock within the UK, Facebook money saving pages like Money Saver online might be your best bet.
They reported earlier that the NES Classic Edition last went in stock at the official Nintendo Store on 16th December, but stock sold out within 15 minutes. We contacted Nintendo to find out when more stock will arrive, but they cannot confirm when that will be and it’s very unlikely this side of Christmas.
Toys R Us had stock of the NES Classic Edition on 6th of December, but again this sold out as quick as it arrived in stock.
In the United States, GameStop received stock a couple of days ago at the same time as the official Nintendo Store in the UK. Currently, both out of stock.
Depending on how desperate you are, you can turn towards eBay and Amazon to purchase, but you should expect to pay up to 3 times the asking price thanks to Amazon’s dynamic pricing model and sellers on eBay aiming to make money out of the shortage.
