NextEV NIO EP9 performance figures

By Peter Chubb - Nov 22, 2016

We’ve known for a while that NextEV was working on an electric supercar, although at the time not much was known not even its name. However, all that changed yesterday, as we now know its name, which is NIO EP9.

Before we go on, we thought you might want to know those all-important NextEV NIO EP9 performance figures. You get a megawatt of power, which equates to 1360 horsepower, and from the four electric motors and four gearboxes you will be propelled to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds. You will reach 200 km/h (124.3 mph) in 7.1 seconds and will keep going until it reaches a top speed of 313 km/h or 200mph..

What’s even more impressive is that the EP9 has beaten the Nürburgring lap record for an EV by lapping it in 1,52.78. The previous record was 7,22.329 set by the Toyota TMG EV P002.

Now, you might notice that the Tesla Model S P100D is able to get to 60mph faster, although this is thanks to it having no gearbox, and so the acceleration is seamless. However, the lack of gearbox also works against the Model S P100D because it is not able to keep that power going and so loses out in top speed.
