If you are looking for a cheap laptop to buy in the UK but worried that it won’t be good enough for gaming, we have a heads-up on one model that may fall into this category.
The Acer Aspire ES 15.6 Inch AMD E1 4GB 1TB Laptop is now selling with a big discount at places like Argos and actually we saw that prices will drop as low as £179.99 – a nice price from the usual £250-300 price that you’ll see elsewhere.
Acer ES1-522 specs include a 15.6-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution, a AMD E1-7010 1.5Ghz dual core processor, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.
It also has AMD Radeon R2 graphics, 3 USB ports with one USB 3.0, HDMI, Bluetooth, SD card reader and runs on Windows 10. Is the Acer ES1-522 Laptop with AMD E1-7010 good for gaming though?
Sadly, we can’t recommend this laptop if you are looking for a fast system that can play games on medium to high settings. The warning signs are there right away with only a dual-core processor but the Radeon R2 graphics are already outdated by today’s standards.
We couldn’t find any AMD E1-7010 gaming benchmarks at the time of writing, but we have however picked out a brief gaming demo of the slightly older E1-6010 running Skyrim and performance is not good at all – just 25FPS and lag everywhere, that’s the old Skyrim as well not the Special Edition.
In the Acer Aspire ES 15.6-inch AMD E1 4GB 1TB laptop reviews left at Argos in 2016, many buyers have already commented that while storage is fantastic, it suffers in slow performance.
A price tag of under £200 is still very appealing though, especially if you are just looking for a casual browsing experience and are not looking at gaming aspects at all.
